Thread: Why exactly do you hate Jedi?

Jedi are a scape goat, pure and simple. Hating jedi is merely the cover for being jealous and immature. They have the idea that you need alot of cash to be a jedi. You don't. You can start from scratch with a CDEF pistol like the rest of us did and earn our cash. You can make a tailor or a weaponsmith or a dancer and go make items that people want to buy. You can save your money just like the rest of us did. You can make friends and join guilds and do just like the rest of us did. You can learn professions like the rest of us did, and follow the current steps to Jedi, just like the rest of us did.
Instead, people accost you in starports and ask for a million credits to get themselves started so they can hurry up and get Jedi too. They want you to babysit them in groups, take them to the areas to get their badges then kill Krayts for them so they can loot the pearls. They want everything NOW. They want to be jedi but don't want to put out any effort to gain it. They want the same badges, money, professions, friends and reputation that you have worked 2.5 years for in 6 weeks. They want to level in huge groups doing the minimum effort possible, and wonder why they die when they are on their own. They don't know how other professions work or how they can support orbe hurt.
Before Jedi, all the problems of the game were blamed on TKM/Smuggler/Pistoleers. Then it was Commandos were the bad guys. Then it was the Combat Medics were the reason we were all going to hades in a hand basket... If they removed Jedi from the game, it would be Squad leaders are the evil reason the game is a pile of crap. They blamed Doctor buffs for unbalancing the game, then just gave us permanent buffs. Be careful of what you blame for all your problems, they will nerf it. Myself, I blame the Devs, the real problems with this game. Now, if they get nerfed to oblivion, the game just might get better.
to this i cant say much more then AMEN !!

ones that dont care about Jedi are ex-Sims Online/Earth and Beyond or another 'not knowing about Star Wars' player.
Hey! I played Earth and Beyond :/. Was a great game when Westwood ran it. But EA ran it about like SOE is running SW:G.
Sadly this guy is 100% correct SOE is ruining this game not jedi, just like EA destroyed a perfectly good EnB
Ok, the way i see it:
People dislike jedi for a number of reasons. A few of these include:
1) inability, ineptidude, or too lazy to grind their own
2) no desire to HAVEa jedi so noone else should either
3) star wars timeline/cannon
these are only a few, but from my experience, most people fall into #3, then #2. Not many in #1 but they are there. IMO, people who hate jedi most are the bounty hunters that could do nothing with them. They'd get a mission and get sliced up. try again, die again. SO, they finally whined enough and got their nerf to jedi so they can kill them now.
Now the situation is reversed. The jedi have been SCREWED into being a sub par profession who can barely hold their own. It is an elite profession that SHOULD be slightly (and only slightly for padawans) higher than the other professions simply because of the time it takes to actually be permitted to become one AND the time it takes to grind a full template. It boils down to the fact that BH's are happy right now because they can grab some CM in their temp and kill 90% of the jedi on their server. They flame jedi who complain because they know whining and complaining worked for them and don't want to see their easy cash go down the tubes again when the Devs fix jedi. What we really need is some FIXES to the jedi profession and some of the other profession. No more nerfing. One step forward and two steps back NEVER gets you anywhere. just makes you frustrated. Lets take steps to IMPROVE every profession rather than taking abilities away from others.

Why I should think that obvious my naive friend. It is plain that there are far too many Jedi in the game. Also, it seems to be everyone's main goal in the game. EVERYONE wants to bea Jedi. And the amount of Jedi will keep on increasing until the vast majority of the servers ARE Jedi. What fun would that be? I do not aim to unlock Jedi. I really would like it if the game were more like the movies. Everything else with the game is fine. I don't understand how anyone couldn't see the problem with Jedi! It's obvious! I DO wish that Jedi would be removed. And yes I know that it is a valuable asset to the franchise. But if you're only playing to unlock Jedi, then you shouldn't be playing anyway. Is this really accurate to the movies and EU? Many Jedi are around and they all hang out in Theed. WHAT SENSE DOES THAT MAKE? None! And alsoall the Jedialways seem to be PvPing against each other all the time inTheed.Thatisn't accurate either.
Jedi has phucked up this game so badly. So in my closing statement, I repeat my main points:
1.) There are too many Jedi in the game. If they don't remove them they should at least make it harder to get.
2.) It seems that unlocking Jedi is everyone's main goal in the game.
3.) All the Jedi are always PvPing against each other, usually in Theed.
Now those are my main pet peeves with Jedi. You asked, you got an answer. Take those glowsticks of yours and shove em up your @$$es if you don't like it.
I picked your post to quote, since you were slightly more coherent than others. The reason I picked you is that you typify the ignorant ME centric attitude of alot of people. You bought the game, logged in and then are disappointed that everyone else that bought the game and is logged in, isn't following your idea of what the game should be. Wow, those arrogant pricks are playing the way they want to.... how dare they. They have the utter gal to actually do what they want to do with the game they bought.
If you don't want to be a jedi, then don't be one. If your plan in life is to be an Entertainer/Artisan, then be one. Craft, quest, hunt, do anything YOU want to do. No one will stop you, and you have absolutely no right to stop anyone else. If you don't like Jedi, then don't buy from them, don't group with them, don't support them in any way. The danger of that is, the crafters with the best armor or guns, are probably alts of Jedi. That chef that has the best food is probably the alt of a jedi too.
Interestingly enough, alot of the jedi haters want me to come tank their lousy groups so they can grind faster and bash jedi some more. Then they want to complain if they don't get healed instantly by my evil nasty hated self. I don't group with fools. You hate me bad enough? Make a BH and come try to kill me.
I personally don't care what your main goal is in the game. I don't care if everyone can be a jedi and actually gets one. I don't see the difference between a battle filled with all Jedi and a battle filled with all TKM's, all BH's, all Rifleman, or all SL's. They are all boring, except that the Jedi will all die to each other faster than the rest. This game is for everyone to fulfull THEIR dreams. It is not Johnny's game where everyone caters to little Johnny's idea of who gets to play what. That type of game play is usually left behind once you get your 7th birthday. I think Nintendo still makes those kinds of console games, you might have better luck there.
If the estimates of how many jedi are in the game are correct, Theed would explode and crash if the entire Jedi population was dueling in front of Theed. I hate to break your little bubble, but alot of us never go to theed. We don't duel constantly, nor do we hide who we are. Any BH that has my mission just needs to send me a tell, and I will be happy to tell him where I am. If I am not out helping guildmates, you can find me in Shadow Valley on Talus. I don't need to prove anything to anyone, nor do I need to appologize for being a jedi. I paid for my game, I pay for my subscription for several accounts each month. I produce some of the best Chef and Artisan food on the server and have one of the best Weaponsmiths as well. Be careful too, if you buy some of my BE items as well, you might just be supporting a hated Jedi.
1.The numbers of them: Who's fault is that? Not the Jedi. Blame the devs for making it as easy as it is. I knew nothing about gettng glowy when I started but within days was told what to do (this was over a year ago). I did my TKM prof, played content, and did the villiage as required to unlock in 6 phases. Then the CU hit and the Jedi I invested so much time into was unplayable. I felt cheated and left for 6 months. Been back a month and have been spinning my way to a MLS/MDEF/ENH0002/HEAL3000 template. Be done in a few more weeks. BTW, in the 6 months that I played before leaving, I not only ground a Jedi but also ground a Chef, cooked foods and made money, helped co-found a player city (Corbantis, Ghost Town, now called Praxum) and the guild (formally recon now prax). Made lots of friends and had lots of fun. Helped many new players learn how to play the game, gave them credits, armor, weps, etc. Even did this for peeps not in my guild. Yep, we Jedi are really bad people and only care about becoming Jedi... pft.
2.The way they play, I like the starwars univers. Alot of jedi(not all) spend their time waving their glowbats in starports I actually agree with this. I preferred the pre-cu days when you rarely saw a Jedi in public and never saw one grinding. It was a long boring grind for us Jedi, but hey, pre-cu soloing was the way it was for everyone. I sometimes miss the solitude of solo grinding and it was a lot easier to do as no need to form and manage a group. Of course it took longer, but that was a good thing too IMO.
3.GCW, unless you are a combat medic or Doc you can forget being a part of GCW/JediWars, and even then get ready to be ganked by 10 jedi at the time. This again is the devs fault, not Jedi's fault. I never do GCW as it just does not interest me, nor does PvP. That's just me and I have always much preferred PVE. Give Jedi high end content and take us out of the GCW... like we have asked for so many times.

Okay this is my third shot at a post I hope it goes up this time...
This is stupid. All the posts so far are calling all us Jedi haters "stupid" and "immature" and "lazy".
This is not true. I wanted to play SWG to be a smuggler so, by golly I'll be a smuggler!
Let me try this question:
Why did you GO Jedi in the first place?
Actually, not all Jedi players are calling people lazy and stupid. There ARE however those that deserve to be labelled as such. Isn't it rather coincidental that once Jedi was made "easier" (In actuality, it was just defined more fully), many players started going Jedi? Some people HAVE posted that they don't want Jedi for themselves -I find that wonderful. I honestly wish that Smuggler WAS a viable profession, that Commando was a viable profession, etc. but, they aren't. And that's the crux of the problem.
Before the CU, there were exactly TWO professions that were working as designed, TK and Jedi. BOTH were called "overpowered" by the masses - When in reality, they WORKED, unlike all the other professions. And instead of FIXING all the other professions, they nerfed the ones that DID work. This has been the response for the entirety of this game's existence. Sadly, every nerf makes the game less viable, and les fun to play - And even MORE sadly, Jedi gets the blame for everything.
As to why *I* personally chose to be a Jedi is this. i've played the other professions. I've done almost all the content. I had only Jedi left, so I took the path. This is MY "last hurrah" in this game, unless they manage to make some of the other professions worth playing. Currently, BH is working, and working well. THIS is why many Jedi alts are BH. If Smuggler was working just as well - Many would be smugglers. And so on down the line.
