Thread: Sick of all the PRE CU mentions.

You do realize if they made a pre-cu server then they would actually have to do every patch and publish and expansiion twice for the different coding.

Good one. Pre-cu was what 3-4 keys. Post-cu is what 5-6, I feel smarter because I can press 3 more keys than before !
You only use 5-6 keys? I have past 40 custom keys in my keyset, and I use all of them. I have about 12 attacks and 2 debuffs that I use when time is right, yet I am only 4004.

ummm no they wouldnt, they would go back to the day that the CU went live and just not update it anymore..... if it was pre cu they wouldnt need to update or add any new items because everything we needed was already ingame.
QFE I'd transfer my characters to that server in a heartbeat and be just fine with it.

Pre-cu and starwars is two different things.

I played this cause it was different and i love star wars. And ill never let preCU go, cause i loved that came.
Pre-cu was about dots, powerhammers, vibroknucklers and composite armor. None of them are native to the starwars world.
dont talk bs yrself, i thought you were better aswell...
And ToOW is, lavasabres, snares, mcm, quai-gon-jin-whatever qube? I mean, hmm i see we follow the timeline in the game aswell.
So picking up "not part of the swg world" is a bit false

You can actually report them.

This is the Jedi boards... CU vs pre-CU discussions belong on the Core Systems board, not here.
And I agree. It's financially impossible to support a pre-cu server, and probably technically impossible as well. Reading 10-20 posts per day about the subject is annoying.
People should spend their energy on buffing the current game instead.
QFE
Fixed again.

* Single combat professions mixed with crafting/entertainers were as valuable as full combat temps.
They where not as valuable, and you still can do it.
Good luck with that, ever try tanking a Krayt Dragon at level 54? My TKM/Architect used too.
WAAAAAAAH!!! I'm an uber-dude! My TKM should be able to punch holes in Star Destroyers!1!11! He was so close before, but now he can't!! OMFGWTF!?!?!?! That's what this sounds like.
* Each profession was unique, a few had strengths, most had weaknesses only
Fixed.
Only if you didn't know how to cover yourself from those few weaknesses being exploited.
How do you "cover" from mind fire? How do you "cover"when you havegimped state defenses (as most professions did...unless you were a melee stacker)? What do you do against a 2300+ damage Powerhammer, or a 1000+ tick Mind Poison?
* Weaponsmiths could actually sell weapons other than the one that does the most damage.
That's post-cu yes, where SAC, Speed and Damage is important. Pre-cu, damage was everything.
Pre-CU Weaponsmiths sold stuff, Post CU you just got it as a reward from Kashyyyk
Well, I liked the old crafting better, so...nothing to say here.
* Mobs were more interesting as they had various resists and armor levels which required some knowledge/skill to fight them.
F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1
You mean Attack 1 Attack 2 Heal Attack 1 Attack 2 Heal Attack 1 Attack 2 Heal in the CU is better?
Also you're forgetting weapon resists, the fact that NPC's used diff weapons with diff damage types on them which made you look at what armor you were wearing. Last I checked it wasn't smart to attack a NS Elder who had a stun baton.
Resists werea good idea gone bad. I had a suit of composite armor that when coupled with a good PSG pretty much made Stun Batons and Jawa Riflesequal to janta knives. If they actually worked (the resists), cool, however uber-duber armor put an end to that.
* I spent more time watching the fight and not flashing buttons.
F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1
F1 F2 F1 F2 Heal F1 F2 F1 F2 Heal, all the while your watching your cooldown timers and not the fight.
I use a lot more attacks than this...repeating the same ones over and over is an archaic way of thinking. I vary it up and it serves me quite well.
* I didn't have to spend half an hour shouting "looking for group" before I could go earn some xp in reasonable quantity.
You surely spent time to find a sologroup, after spending time to find an entertainer, after spending time to find a doctor, wasting 30-45 minutes just to go out and do something.
My guild had entertainers in its cantina 24/7, and Docs online 24/7, I'd be buffed and ready to rock in 3 min.
And for those who didn't have this luxury? Sorry but mandatory buffage is not a good system...even if you have access to those buffs at the drop of a hat.
* PVP wasn't a "he who heals best wins" situation
PVP was about "who got lucky with the loot" situation.
PVP was rarely about who got the lucky loot, and more about who know's their skills better then the other
PVP was about uber MindFire lances looted fromNS(and Rifles... /wink). It was about using whatever mind attack you had to hopefully beat your opponents down faster. It was about 1400-tick CM poisons. It was about buffing your mind as high as possible. It was about having the best armor. It was about having the legendary or exceptional weapon. It was about having the better foods. This talk about skill...no...sorry, not buying it..and yeah, this is coming from an ex-PvPer who had the gear and the template to put plenty of Rebels in the cloner. There were tactics that could be employed, sure. There was some"skill" in knowing which attack to land and when to land it (mainly to get the Dizzy-KD)...but that's about it. At the end of the day...all it was was breaking down that blue bar as fast as you could. I'm not saying the CU has evolved us past this, but please...spare this tired act of the old system being something eloquent and hard to master...it was far from either.
* My state changing attacks worked.
Still does.
With next to zero effect (+20 damage for being dizzy? YAY! waste of action)
Should the game be all about the Dizzy KD though...like it used to be? Yeah the states are crap now, but...should they be the focal point anyway?
* Mastering one of the jedi professions actually was worthwhile.
Jedi was not in scope of the CU.
We may not ahave been in scope of the CU but we definatly suffered from it
Agreed.
* Doctors had a viable way of earning money in the game.
Unbalanced ruin of the games economy. We get 10k per pve mission now, just like everybody else.
Have you ever crafted as a Doc? Yes they'd make money but no faster then a loot **edit**, or a Weaponsmith who was good. 10-15k credits per buff that lasts 3 hours or more is not much to ask when you can pull in millions in that time.
I'm still going with the...Doctors ruined the economy (Or contributed to it anyway) thing. I had plenty of Doc friends...I knew how much they were making and how fast they weremaking it. The only reason I chose not to do it is because I couldn't stand the boredom. The money though...was incredible.

sure ur not just tired of hearing about the good old days u never experienced?
Outside of the larger player base...
What was good about Pre-CU again? Please, refresh my memory.
Cities were populated, Yes, the population went down the crapper...unfortunately.each profession had a reason to play the game. Okay, I'll give you that...a lot of unnecessary nerfs took place to non-combat profs. Doctors could make a living off of buffs, Already touched on this...doctors played a good part in the inflation of the economy, but Idon't know if they should have been taken down as much as they were.crafters who excelled at their profession would become known server wide, Agreed. Idon't like post-CU crafting at allmelee combat characters could actually tank things, Melee isdoing just finein the tanking department. If you can't tank as melee in post-CU then...just stop playing.dots had an effect that you actually had to care about, DoTs were one of the worst ideas ever put into this game...good riddance...and this is coming from an ex-Pikeman...lol states worked Meh...it shouldn't be all about states, although they are pretty useless now...save for KD., pvp wasn't nearly as mindless as it is today (snare snare snare snare root snare snare snare). PvP was mindless as ever pre-CU (head hit head hit head hit head hit, dizzy, stun, KD. Repeat. Or.../toss uber mind poison ftw) The Dev's stated that they wanted to make it so you didn't have to get buffs or all of that jazz to play the game, however they also stated that they wanted to bring everyone together to rely on other people as well. Last I checked I just wander around doing nothing for hours at a time and every 2 months I stock up on some basic childs play food, Blob, Kanali, Spice Tea, and the occasional 4 crates of Booster. This allows me to do pretty much anything in the game. Nothing has been balanced, there are FOTM templates for pvp and pve, both of which will win every time.Professions are more clearly defined now, although I agree that thereisstill no balance. The only thing that has changed is a bunch of new bugs were introduced and they dumbed down the whole game. Crafting is a joke, since everything is pretty much the same, pvp is a joke now because if you can move its a miracle with all the stringed roots and snares. Before you actually had to think, you wanted the best set of armor, the best buffs, the best Weapons (even if some were over powered). When you fought you worried about states and dots and knock downs. You get knocked down now you just hit a button and up you go (most of the time, since its bugged as well). And pre-CU it was Dizzy-KD for the win if you had no defesne against it. That'sjust as mindless. I rarely had to think I pre-CU PvP. I learned what worked real fast and pretty muchkept doing that over and over again...and it worked very well. Anyways, this is just a quickly thought out rant at how you could forget what was better about Pre-CU.Meforgetting was sarcasm. Clearly you and I value different things, and many of the things you liked about the pre-CU...Icouldn't stand...hence I asked for a "reminder"Everyone could do their own thing, if you wanted to rule in PVP/PVE/Crafting then you worked at getting the best equipment and learned your skills, not have them handed to you because you were too lazy or just didn't want to put in the effort to obtain that stuff. People still have to learn how to fight. People still need to get the money and items to make their "uber" weapon, even if the stats are capped. The game is not what it used to be, but all of these things are still possible...it's just different now. Does that mean it's better? I'm not one to say. But I'll say this much...I dont' miss the Pre-CU. Only thing pre-CU I miss is my friends, and my old template.

Perhaps if those of us who knew it and recognised its strengths keep reminding the Devs how good their original creation was, elements of the old system might be returned. Just as happened with the 'new' group xp system.
Never happen, every patch they've had since the CU would be totally borked. and they're not going to dump more than a years worth of work down the drain.

You are clueless lemme tell you something, old doctor buffs = new squad leader buffs. Go ahead and try some combinations and you can be uber and 1-2 shot people.
