I could never understand why people waste their time with proposal's like this one. If you have been playing this game since launch or even later then that then you all damn well know that the dev's will do what THEY want and they rarely take the advice of the community on any issues. The FRS is a huge overhaul to jedi and it will take a long time for them to finish it but I guarantee it will be totally different than any ideas that have been posted in the jedi forums.

If they wanted ideas from the community they would of asked for them by creating a thread asking for player ideas and input of what we want as a whole for the FRS. They have never done that and they never will.

I used to believe that too, but not any more. The devs themselves keep referring to "Fanfest feedback" when discussing XYZ changes that they are making, such as what to do with payouts when they remove Jedi names from BH terminals.

I wrote the "Jedi Anonymity on BH Terminals" proposal (linked in my sig) almost 8 months ago. Now that it's on test center, do I feel like I have wasted my time writing it and keeping it updated? Of course not, and the same goes for this thread. It's not like we have a working FRS and I came up with another one and I expect them to delete their own and start over with mine, as if they have nothing better to do. We don't have an FRS, and the official word is that nothing can be said about the next FRS until they actually start working on it. Which means, now is thebest time there ever was to be floating ideas about what the next FRS should look like.

I would say two things -

1.) Your ideas are well thought out. But you are proposing major additions to the game mechanic that really only affect one profession. The devs have to consider an economical wayof doing the most good for the most players with the least amount of changes to the over-all game mechanics (don't mention the CURB. That's an aberration, LOL). So don't expect much from these ideas. It's fun to be creative with this stuff, but it's not realistic. Bottom line: Keep It Simple.

2.) Don't keep bumping your own threads. If there were truly a community interest, people would respond. I would suggest going back to the drawing boards to find something that fits the template I gave you in point #1.

Thanks for the feedback.

Granted, the full idea as posted is not simple -it is a grand design. But if one wants to strip it down to bare essentials foran economicalimplementation, allone really needs is a circle of mist enterable only by Knights, with one NPC and a Force Shrine on steroids in the middle, and the vulnerability rules and turning countdowns. The actual scenario in the background is not the essence here; drawing Light and Dark Jedi intostructured PVP conflict they cannot afford to avoid if they wish to advance in the FRS is the key here, and at its heart, that is a simple and beautiful idea that may even find application in a completely different way.

Regarding the point about changes that only affect one profession, have you checked lately just how big our profession is? Here's a hint: click "Professions" above, and scan the number of new posts in the different profession forums. If you leave out the BH forum, the Jedi forum has more new posts than all the other thirty professions combined. So in fact we are talking about changes that affect the largest single group of players, excuse me, I meant to say customers, and there is plenty of scope for investing development resources when the point of the exercise is to find something that will keep this largest group of customers playing, and most importantly for SOE, paying.

There is also the Law of Unintended Consequences. By catering to the largest single group, you will be excluding others, regardless of their numbers. Any perk for a large group will be seen as a snub for the minorities. It's a political concept, but you see it as the foundation of many of the Jedi-flaming that goes on in the forums. Smugglers will wonder why they got passed over again. Same with Rangers, etc. The natural progression of your idea would be to give each 'over-looked' profession something special on a similar scale. Otherwise, mass defections of the player base may occur once again. It's better to improve a game system that affects everyone, rather than just one group. That's not always possible, so the devs work a little on each profession at a time, trying to maintain a balance of satisfaction for everyone.

There are many obvious paths to improve the game, but they are usually easier said than done. And very often they have just as many cons compared to the pros.

I hope that helps.

Sounds like i nice idea. Only change i would make is the knight only thing padawans should also be allowed in(Rping purposes, quests etc.) because lets say if they put the master/padawan thing in he should be allowed to come help. And in the moive heh the only people who really were defending the temple were the padawns heh oh well i dont think it would ever be added sense in the time era if there were in jedi temples what so ever vader would brind his superstar destoryer and bomb em.

not bad idea, but it should not be all frs, maybe 10% of frs, or we can say one part of mod from frs

-i like pve and pvp, but all day to do pvp.. . it's not a big fun for me... from time to time, yes but i rather killing higher lvl mobs than poore people... i'm too peacefull person a don't want to db and nerf people just because of other faction, from time to time where are some idiots around... sure.. db for him but not without reason

so you are missing a big part.. for people who like swg and play it as social / helpel players

but as a small part of frs, to a change your gamestyle it should be ok, (sounds like battlegrounds from wow... that's also good idea but not for whole day)

Well, I never suggested that devs should drop everything and do this first, I am merely suggesting what the FRS should look like when the devs decide it's time to revamp it.

Your comment about the law of unintended consequencesstill doesn't change the reality that for every one smuggler or ranger or other minority profession there are tens of Jedi in the game. What if they pushed the FRS revampto the back burner to spend a few monthsrevamping smugglers and rangers and every other minority profession? Wouldn't they lose more customers that way? (I know that the reason there are so few smugglers and rangers is because they have been broken for a long time, but that shouldn't be a factor, because that'sjust crying over spilled milk...).

"A little at a time" takes too long. This is a live game after all, not alpha stage software. They shouldtemporarily expand the programmer team so that three to five major projects can be worked on in parallel, instead of just one, thus clearing the backlog of problems that have been plaguing this game since its premature launch. Then the core team can stay on to respond quickly to the largest problems affecting the largest groups of players. That's the right way to do business.

I like the idea...as for the timeline it is time once and for all to forget the Timeline. There was a starting point that point is long past....I really like your idea for most of the reasons you laid out...2 things:

1) master/apprentice might be allowed to participate in some sort of limited fashion.

2) I like the out of the box thinking...Jedi (of either side) should be secret and somewhat reclusive...so protecting it the way the village is protected makes sense. Just please god don't have it be 6000M from somewhere....and someone might want to think about a non attackable TEF surrounding where the temples would be..no camping Mr MBH

Zorron, like your idea, but I have a few suggestions:

1. Make it only on 2 or 3 planets (Yavin, Dant and Dath spring to mind, but what about Talus, Lok and Yavin to boost population?) The reason for this is that if this was on *all* planets, the jedi would be spread too thinly across the galaxy.

2. For any temple that is attacked, all knights of that side, no matter where they are will get a system message (so they can travel to the endangered temple and fight) - even if they are on a different planet.

3. The turning criteria should be something like more than half not revived, rather than *all* not revived, since it might be easy to miss one.

Alternatively, the temples could be like the static cities- when some jedi action occurs (still like the idea of all jedi being notified), then whichever side has the most 'points' at the next server restart gets the temple.

Also, how about the top of the temple (inner sanctum, etc) has a portal/shuttle/some thing else that allows aligned jedi to 'port in' to protect the temple from attacks. (They still have to travel to the correct planet, but until the temple is taken, this allows them to defend the battle and enter at a safe place).

Nice idea.

Thanks Kaigo. I agree with you that the top priority would be "so normal chars can be left a bit alone from all these Jedi". I wish more people would post their feedback, so I can refine this idea further and to have a realistic hope of the idea getting a fair hearing from the powers that be.

In the last two months that I have been floating this idea around, the number of template complete Jedi on most servers has mushroomed thanks to the village phases maturing, the respecs and the rryatt trail. This is an idea whose time has eminently come.

As a non-jedi, I love it. It looks like it will keep jedi clear of the GCW, removes fight clubbing, and deals with jedi content. I also like the fact that the temples will give some good bonuses, and if you are losing, you get smaller bonuses. An addition, should these temples be worth anything the GCW meta-game? And as for the quests....thats another reason to fight for the control. Have "sensors" (for a lack of a better word), and as soon as a foe enters the building, the alert goes out. The idea as a whole is good, and I like it. (BTW, im a BH as well...)

I like yourproposal Zorron.

An idea like this (if implemented) would not only provide FRS content but, also keep Jedi out of public view a little more.

Hell, I remember along time ago, in a SWG far far away, when seeing a Jedi was a rare treat. Now its more of an annoyance.

I would like to see these "Temples" be very creatively designed. WhatI mean is, a lot of corridorsand rooms onlike 5levels. No fancy decorations, just simple stone walls.

I say this because it will providenumerousdefensive & offensive possibilites for tactics and strategic planning. Not just for the group with greater numbers but for the outnumbered groups as well.

I would also like to see radar and overhead map capability for these areas to be disabled. Jedi attackers should have to scour the entire Temple to find NPC's to kill but, always be on the lookout for the lonedefending PC Jedi waiting in a dark corridor to ambushany of your group that is lagging behind. Basically, removal of radar and overhead map would providemore possiblility for tactics and strategy. Instead of "rush to the red dot" or "run from the red dots".

I also wouldn't mind removing the [TAB] function to locate targets. No shortcuts, just get in there, and find them yourself. Jedi are supposed to be the "elite" sodon'tserveup their enemies for them on a radar, map, or auto-target; makethem find them for themselves and be leary of the shadows, or even use them to their advantage.

It is also my opinion that the NPC council members or masters should not be located in one place but, scattered throughout the temple. That would prevent the possible mindless rush to the same location everytime for defense and takedown.

Probably wouldn't hurt to make these temples instanced, like how we now enter through those big doors into hunting grounds and stuff on Kashhyykk. You step through the door andfind yourself at the foot of an enormous ancient temple surroundedbyfog, with possible enemies hiding inside. Ofcourse each player would have to be "non-attackable" until he or she walks through the fog to prevent "load ganking".

And finally, I'd like to see less padawans running around too.Maybe there could be an idea for that.Special grinding places, etc., etc. Who knows.

Anyway, like I said, good post Zorron. Hopefully it will put some good ideas in the heads of the devs; if someone manages to get them to read it.
