this was put in response to jemmyM's post about "freeing" the pve jedi.


everyone is forced to pve, whether they want to or not. Quite frankly the holo grind and now jedi grind is makeing me sick 90% of pve in the game. You were never forced to be a jedi, thus no forced pvp.

It is a difficult and delicate balance that they've failed to achieve. Just as they're abusing and punishing those of us who like to solo with non-FS characters, they're current Jedi system, which was revamped and so should be better than before, is non-sensical. However, many people seem to think that the entire point of Galaxies is PVP, and that bugs me too. Again, a balance needs to be found, because the game is supposed to be about both PvE and PvP, as well as community, politics, and economy. IE: this is supposed to be like living in Star Wars. In a lot of ways, it is now, but soon won't be.

My hats off to you troubled Jedi, though. I didn't get very far into FS because of how the system is set up currently, I can't imagine what sort of problems exist at higher levels.

I'm not getting into a debate or PvE and PvP as both ahve valid points. I understand the original posters comments though...Jedi do have to PvE to grow in strength, in fact, all combat professions do. Is that the right way to do it? Well, I don't know, but it gets boring as hell after so long. I know I personally would prefer "quest based" leveling...and not the type that the village grants...as that's just camouflaged grinding for the most part. Both styles of play need something more than the grind at this point.

Anyway, I just had to quote that snippet from the post because it made laugh. Very good observation, and quite funny too

I would guess 99.9% of the Jedi Knights have their skill set complete when the reach the final Knight trials.

Of course it makes sense as a Knight in full open pvp stands to lose more xp thus digging a hole so deep that the continuation of their skill set would be hindered.

Jedi is almost purely a pve catered gaming style !

Why as a person who enjoys playing my Jedi characters in a pvp playstyle be forced to pve to gain experience that way?

Why is the system so biased to those that enjoy the pve playstyle?

When I put my neck on the line against a Bounty Hunter or for my Faction or my Guild or my city or my planet why canI not gain experience for "my choice" of playstyle ?

Why shouldI be forced into a playstyle that other prefer to build the skills of my Jedi ?

If a dev wants to come here and simply state that the data supports the fact that the majority of the subscribers want it that way well then I'll take that as an answer.

But if there is no real legitimate reason for it then why can we pvp luvin Jedi get a system that allows us to play our jedi "our" way too ?

I LOVE this post, absolutely brilliant questions SOE should address, but they wont cause they dont care about us.

The problem with the title of this post is this:

You have to PvE grind for a while or you can't PvP effectively.

You can't have one without the other. In the CURB, PvP is great now. But if you didn't get a full PvP template in before CURB, you can't PvE to get that PvP template anymore.

That's what's gonna kill the game and it has to be changed. Quickly.

The statement in red is so true the devs dont even have a clue that this is whats going to kill this game if they dont fix it.

just my 2 cents on this conversation, but alot of jedi brought this on themselves, i have seen 3 rebel jedi (not padis) gank a 3 of 4 day old player trying to work faction up i mean peope with no badges, a cdef, and newbie clothes. to be honest wheres the honour in that, it takes a big person to gank a newbie, yet alone going 3 on one with him. and everyone wonders why jedi are hated? lets think about this.not wanting to start a flame fest, but it was pretty unreal, now with the comabtant options things are different, but considering the new deathblow nerf, it is pretty much impossible for alot of us to kill a jedi, except by tripple incap. about 90 percent of my deaths in pvp are jedi related, ask anyone who killed me i dont grief about it, i have event joked and talked to enemy jedi in pvp.

just remimber jedi, with awesome power, comes awesome responsibility. i honestly think its pretty bad when from what i have seen the imp jedi are really the good guys, i know alot more friendly imp jedi than reb jedi. most reb jedi i have ever enocountered are really arrrogant snobs. think about the basis of your faction. and what it stands for.

You need to check your dsl connection. I don't know if you know this or not, but it's basically taken 5 months for your reply to reach the forums. lol
