Brigand Leader (?)--Corellia, pretty sure

Pardon me if this has been asked 1 million times, but I "DID" search the boards looking for a definitive answer.
Why would you say that melee speed is useless to a light saber master? Is it that you max the speed of the light saber, so the melee speed bonus is useless? So, if you don't master light saber, then melee speed does boost your speed? Just curious, but there seems to be some discussion still about melee speed/accuracy boosting your lightsaber speed/accuracy.
What about melee accuracy? Is that still valuable as a light saber master? I would guess so, since accuracy is alwasy decreased by the defense of the opponent.
Thanks in advance,
Leland
Weapon speed formulas all cap at 1.0 speed. The very nature of the way that speed is currently calculated makes any speed at orabove 100 essentially mean that every weapon attack (including specials)will be at that 1.0 speed cap. (It's a little more invovled than that, but I'm just stating as simply as possible for this discussion.)
Since a Lightsaber Masterwill have+100 speed for all three lightsaber types it means that any other additional speed (such as Force Speed)is arbitrary.
Of course this is something that is slated to change in the upcoming Combat Revamp, but we'll see if it actually makes a difference... currently they are just talking about moving around the speed cap for different weapons (so a double-bladed lightsaber might be hard-capped at 3.0 speed for example), which wouldn't make that much of a difference to the above problem.
As for accuracy, more is always better and there is no hard-cap.

While all these tables and facts are fine can we have a bsic answer to the most basic question? DO we still have to grind through professions? How does one move to being "force sensitive". How does this whole Jedi thing start?

UNDERSTANDING THE MELEE AND RANGED SPEED FS SKILLS
I feel this is something that needs to be discussed and cleared up right away, before we have a lot of people upset over a misunderstanding.
The Force Sensitive skills, Combat Prowess: Ranged Speed and Combat Prowess: Melee Speed seemingly grant a combined total of +12 each to their respective weapon types. However, this is wrong, it is not a hard number added onto your existing speed modifier, it is actually a percentile adjustment within your overall speed calculation. It’s not like adding a +12 speed attachment, they don’t add directly onto your existing speed modifier. Instead it’s like getting 12% more speed.
The overall speed calculation is as follows:
attack speed = ((100 - speed mod) / 100) * ((100 - fs speed mod) / 100) * weapon speed * special move speed mod
Attack speed is your final delay time after an attack.
Speed mod is the modifier for the weapon type you are using (for example, Twohand Melee Speed).
FS speed mod is the combined bonus from the Combat Prowess speed line (either Ranged or Melee depending on the weapon equipped).
Weapon speed is the attack speed of the weapon you currently have equipped.
Special move speed mod is the hidden modifier that all special moves have attached to them (if you used a special move).
For example:
A Master Rifleman with a +90 Rifle Speed modifier and has the full Combat Prowess: Ranged Speed line (+12 enhanced ranged speed), uses Head Shot 3 (which has a special move speed mod of x3) with a T21 (7.4 speed).
Now, would the Rifleman’s speed be 102 (90 + 12)? The answer is NO!
The Rifleman’s speed would be calculated as follows:
attack speed = ((100 - 90) / 100) * ((100 - 12) / 100) * 7.4 * 3 = 1.9536
Another example:
A Master Swordsman/Brawler with a +80 Twohand Melee Speed modifier and has the full Combat Prowess: Melee Speed line (+12 enhanced melee speed), uses Head Hit 3 (which has a special move speed mod of x3) with an Acklay Power Hammer (5.9 speed).
Again, the Swordsman’s speed is not +92. It is actually calculated as follows:
attack speed = ((100 - 80) / 100) * ((100 - 12) / 100) * 5.9 * 3 = 3.1152
So hopefully the above examples show you that if you were planning on picking up these lines to circumvent attachments that they don’t actually do what you think they might do. (If I haven’t been clear enough in this please let me know and I’ll try to elaborate further.)

The information in the first post relating to the Force Sensitive Range and Melee speed skills is wrong.
I unlocked Melee Speed today and the net effect was the same as adding a +12 speed armor or clothing attachment for all of my melee skills.
My damage output went from 612 damage per second using mindhit3 on my speed sliced powerhammer to 1192 using my *damage sliced* powerhammer using mindhit3. The speed gains were enough to make it worthwhile for me to use a damage sliced powerhammer over my speed sliced one.
In fact, I was capped at 1.0s attack speed on all special moves available with my 2.6s Scythe including Hit3 (which has a delay mod of 3.3 -- the highest in the swordsman tree). This would only be possible with a 75+12=87 speed mod.
Please correct this as I was quite alarmed when I read the FAQ.
Thankfully, I duly ignored it, unlocked the speed line and I am raking in xp at a phenomal rate compared to yesterday. The speed lines make a huge difference and will help me get through this long ass grind ahead of me.
