Thread: Petition: Bring back solo grinding........
I consider -80% xp gain for being in a group as "forced" against grouping.

Let it be a choice like it was in the old system and don't force it on people. The new system forces groups. I would always groups with my guildmates for stuff under the old system, because I was given a choice to group. The CU is just forcing groups on us and not allowing choices. Being force to do something is not fun.

I wish, Why do you think wow has so maney millions more suscribers ? Because you can solo their easy to max level. BIg loot is uber guild still but you are not forced into grouping and pvp like a jedi is here.
ditto

It means players live and interact with other players in a common world, it doesn't mean you NEED other players to freaking check your harvestors, or grind a profression.
Stupidity I can handle, I just wish there wasn't so much of it...
Thus, sologrinding worked against player interaction, it worked against multiplayer, the very essence of what an MMO is about.
Ok, this is not entirely true... But you have a point...
THey should of fixed the group grinding reward, not make solo grinding impossible.
Like I have said 100 times on these boards, if they would of just LEFT THE XP reduction rates alone, these problems would not exist.
In pre-cu, if I wanted to grind lower level creatures, and only have a mild fight, I still got a considerable % of XP.
Now to solo grind, to get XP you have to keep in 5 Levels of your character, and THIS IS NOT EASY to do alone.
Just make it so killing a lvl 40 character gives about 50% of the xp of killing a lvl 80 character.
IT IS THAT SIMPLE OF A FIX TO A LOT OF THIS NIGHTMARE...
In Pre-CU your groups were reward with higher Level spawns (remember getting 130 lvl spawns on dant?). Now your group is NOT rewarded, in fact, if you have a ton in your group, you should even more XP and higher level missions, IF YOU CHOOSE TO TAKE THEM.
Remember mission terminals used to give out Missions from low level all the way up to what your group could handle.
NOW - it only gives out missios +2 -3 of your highest lvl character in your group.
I know where the Developers got this XP idea from, Go play EQ2, it is EXACTLY how EQ2 works; however, in galaxies this type of XP DOES NOT WORK. In EQ2 if you are a lvl 80 and encounter a lvl 40, no matter how many, you INSTANTLY kill them. In SWG if you are lvl 80 and encounter a lair of lvl 40s, they are still not an easy fight, as they have a high HAM, even though they don't hit so hard.
So, think about this, and instead of NERFING groups or NERFING solo grinding, bring back the old XP system, so that if you want to make less XP, but still screw around in game you can go kill LVL 40 creatures if you want, and get more than 1XP per animal.
This is SO Freaking simple and clear and really one of the main things that broke SWG with the CU. Sure they screwed Docs and other things, but the solo grind being impossible because of NO XP for lower level creatures (THAT ARE STILL HARD TO KILL in SWG) is ridiculous.
How often have you been back to the squill cave to grind lower level Squills because you were bored? This POI as most are now dead, because there is NO reason to ever go there, 1XP per kill is a worthless POI.
It would be fine if not EVERY CHARACTER was Level 80 in a few days, but face it, most everyone that is combat IS. It is that simple and easy...
GIve better XP for lower level creatures instead of NONE if you are not in a group. PERIOD.

PS There is more to an MMO than GRINDING IN A GROUP.
Even when I solo grinded my Jedi on Endor, I had Group and Guildchat. I talked to people more in game then, than I do now...
In a virtual world, you don't ahve to be fighting RIGHT BESIDE THE PERSON to be in the 'game' with them.
There was a large socail community that they DESTORYED for combat. I used to sign in as a dancer to talk with people and hang out, I used to sign as a doctor and heal and talk to people. This is how a real Virtual world and MMO works, NOT JUST GRINDING COMBAT TOGETHER.
I totally don't think you grasp the psychology of an MMO past the, grab friends and go kill stuff.
(BTW I am a developer that specializes in User Interfaces and Computer User interaction - an online world (MMO or Just MSN Messenger) is about virtual presence and creating the social structure first.
If your example held true, then only the BEST WARRIORS in the game would fight together and they would not join groups and fight with their friends - knowing their friends are NOT the best combat people.) Instead people DO group with friends first...
Social interaction, psychology and many 'experience' related aspect are FAR MORE IMPORTANT TO an MMO than just finding good people to group with to gain XP. PERIOD.

Ya, and kill lvl 80 creatures in a reasonable about of time how? If you tried to solo grind anything now, it would take 10-20 times the time it took prior to the CU...
Why? Because you GOT XP FOR LOWER LEVEL creatures (even though LVLS were not displayed).
Now you don't XP for them, you get a waste of time. They are nothing but large spawns of crap filling servers, no one will kill because there is NO LOOT, and NO XP for doing so.
Additionally, in the old days you could take a low level misison on the terminal and still get SOME XP, now you can't even do that. You either fight for your life, or a a long ass fight, or you DO NOTHING SOLO.
I'm sure you mean well, and from your perspective the XP changes and non-solo grind world being gone has little impact on you, but you truly are missing a large concept of what this game was and why it WAS succesful...
the entire concept of fun pve totally evades these devs. really. they have zero clue what makes a game fun.
It's not even funny any more.
Yea, but some ppl on here don't know anything besides post-CU...Granted there are players around that have seen both and seen things since the beginning. So, my point is let it go. All the "boo-hooing" about I want pre-CU etc. Things change for good and bad, and if it isn't fair....Guess what, life is the same way and if you haven't learned that by now, you been lucky.
They where not Jedi, nor had they any intention to be one.
