Thread: today I saw for the real face of the ugly truth...

Pre Cu I used the solo-groups. Capping 900k tka + 900k 2h +300k combat was doable in 3.5 hours. The long grinding buffs time.
Post Cu I join groups, I cap 1.2m tka + 1.2m pike + 300k comabt +200k swords+ 10k 1h + 200k rifle + 200k carbine + 200k pistol + 900k med (the cap is higher here but I never reach it) in 4-5 hours if the group is good.
Pre Cu it was 160k FS exp, Post Cu its 117k + 30k medic.
Conclusion: it's not that faster or slower, it's almost the same. The con is it's hard to find good players while in the solo groups it was all easy.
But but, scout exp is crazy faster now. If you plan to have ranger0040 you fill 1 sense branch in real no time.
Yup, post cu i manage to fill 2 full trees using scout and med xp in just 6 hours. Shame they nerfed the conversion rate on med xp, but it was a little easy tbh.
What is the point? XP happens whetheryou are grouped or solo. Grouping saves time. An ideal group for speed is eight cl70 or better. I have been in quite a ew groups like that. On the other hand, I have been in mixed groups with all sorts of levels and have had just as much fun. With my Mdoc/Mcarb toon I can tank and heal for one to four people in a group, and I can solomany creatures as long as I don't get mobbed. I prefer smaller groups or using an alt toon of lower level to grind up with my armor clad doc/carbineer. I still get the job done.
As jedi I take my time and chances. Jedi comes out when I want to go after high end content that I choose to pursue. Also occasional PvP, and the waiting game for a BH attack. In any eventjedi roleplayrequires a lot of preparation, and I still grind XP to bank just in case I choose to change something, which I do often.
The game will change over and yet again, it is up to the player base to adapt, report bugs, and test the system. Too many people complain and create more problems rather than helping come up with a solution. My take is balance the game and make it a challenge to achieve your template or goals. In many cases the FOTM way of SWG is not all there is to do. Folks who play that way lack any sense of invention, and in my view are hapless slackers, and tactless bores.
Get with the game and find your way. Deal with the changes and challenges the game presents you. Make a positive contribution. Help someone who asks or needs it. Play nice, be fair, and enjoy the game.

Back on the subject, you really can't remove the grind from the game. The grind comes about because so much focus is placed on the end goal. It's been around since the inception of RPGs... "Can't wait until I get to 10th level, I'll get a fifth level spell then. Let's go back to the kobold cave and kill some more, i need the exp." The idea of 'farming' experience has been around for a loooong time, and regularly gets made fun of in RPG comics like Knights of the Dinner Table and PvP. Any time you have a goal that is the focus of your gameplay, and you can't get there immediately, you get a grind. Whether it's grinding exp, or grinding through a bunch of 'click this guy, now go click that guy, now go back and click the first guy' quests a la Ultima 1-4, it's all a grind IF you're obsessed with achieving a goal.
