Thread: Need Hard Data on Crystals and Pearls
3 good pearls
damage, fc...
63, -2
49, -2
40, -3
conclusion... I wasted my money
crystals
58 dmg -2fc
99 dmg -2fc
pearl
107dmg -5fc
i got good dmg for my saber but the pearl let me down with speed so i lost 4 pts DPS
Is there any reason why you are just including the damage and not the speed and force cost in your charts?
I would guess that each of these variables are tuning independently of each other. So if you had a 5 percent chance for a 100 damage tune, a 5% change for a -0.2 speed tune and a 5% chance for a -7 force cost tune, you would only have a 0.0125 percent chance to get adecent 100, -0.2, -7 fc combined tune. That's closer to 1/10,000 tunes to get a 100 dmg/-0.2 sp/-7 fc tune from a good crystal. So any statements that it is possible to get a good tune from any crystal/pearl are true, it is just highly unlikely in your lifetime.
Data for the mean and distribution/variance for each of the variables as well as combinations of the variableswould be useful to show whether this is true or not.
52, -.11, -2
44, 0.0, -3
32, -.06, -3

I am keeping that data when it isprovided Coronula. I can tell you there is no correlation between damage and FC and that the average FC tune so far is -3.33. That would group FC tunes at the low end, just like damage tunes. There has been some speculation there isa correlationbetween speed and damage, but I haven't compiled that data yet. You are absolutely correct, if they run off different tables, there is a very small chance for a good tune over all 3 catagories; damage - speed - FC.More like 0.0001% than 0.0125%. I'll provide more information on damage / speed when I have enough data to show a patteren, if one exists.
Coronula,
Might want to buy that Powerball ticket. The actual probability of tuning a fair /good crystal over 100 damage is around 0.6%. Some people on the forums are claiming Tiggs lied when she said a perfect tune from a fair / good crystal is possbile. Possible yes, but about as likely as a whale making love to a shrimp and having babies afterward.

Final results are posted. Look at Pearls and Crystals - The Statisical Truth
Thanks guys .. everyone here helped a bunch.
