Counter question. Would it be acceptable for me to use my alt and keep you kd'd and unable to fight until you ended, thusly giving me a duel win by default?

A duel is toe to toe. My personal opinion is that if you go beyond the range of attacks the duel would be over and the person running would have lost. In most cases that would be 64 meters for ranged and 32 for Jedi. But thats just me.

This is yet another reason I find dueling pointless. Why run?

what u talking about this KD thing, because thats not possible. and if u had a jedi and u were fighting a Mdef with AI on, would u stay and take ur beatings? while the other person cant die or worry about mind burn

Heh, I can keep you perpetually kd'd and unable to fight. Trust me on this. If you don't believe me fine, create a character on Shadowfire and send Court/Lilith or Gheist a tell and I'll meet up with you and prove it. Last time I did this was in pvp and I got bored after 5 mins and decided to bike away.

As for the Mdef one, I stand by what I said. If you go beyond the range of the template either you or your dueling partner has, I personally feel its a win for the other. I'm not talking ducking in and out of range. I'm talking about beyond attacking distance for great lengths of time.

As for this Jedi without the healing who has to auto-ai in duels. Dumb ... very dumb. But yes I'd stand toe to toe. Why? Because in approx 2 mins of fighting they will be dead. Period.

Only way to keep someone down without exploitingis to KD + Stasis/Paralyze/Concussion (which gives 45 seconds without being able to damage them) or KD + Startle/Panic which last for about 3s so you get in an extra hit.

And it took you five minutes to beat on someone on the floor that couldn't get up before you either won or looks like gave up?

Also if you AI then you are going out of the range of damage of a Sabers or even Powers Template because they are doing no damage to the Defender so there is no range of damage being inflicted....... so then AI auto loses duel right?

Note for everyone else he said going out of range of their template... well if they have saber throw go more then 5m out because saber throw is 32m so your in range but round time on saber throw isn't going to let them do enough damage.

I never said my template was designed to deal damage. And yes *I* got bored and left. This wasn't a duel, it was pvp. That 5 mins was ment to leave a lasting mark on my target (that time). Beyond that, it is possible to keep people out of a fight indefinately. KD'd pretty much forever and unable to fight.

And my only point about being beyond range would only apply if neither target can attack for any great length of time. Skirting that 32 m edge is hard and I wouldn't begrudge anyone that tries to play that edge (be it pistoleer, jedi or otherwise). Where I would have problems is if one goes beyond attacking range with the intent to take NO damage whatsoever. And this would apply to someone fighting a defender with AI activated or a melee reverse-kiting a rifleman.

Yup and the Defender uses AI with the intent to "take NO damage whatsoever"

Oh btw since you believe that trying to get out of range then the runner is the loser............ most bh's didn't really win then

The whole thing about bh is ranged (most to all bh's)and most bh's aren't going to stand there and waste armor when they can hit and not get hit back.

Big difference.

1. Most defenders at that point would be taking enough damage to be overwhelmed

2. Most AI'ing defenders go in to the negs (in regards to health).

3. AI'ing doesn't prevent you from dying, it just prolongs the death with the attempt to get a second chance at life.

Running away cannot incap you. When a Jedi AI's there is nothing preventing you from still attacking them. Am I right or am I right?

if a jedi needs to use avoid incap vs a non-jedi in 1 on 1, the jedi has already lost as he is using his last line of defense first and in the process cutting his lifespan down to 3.5mins tops.

a master defender has better defense then anyone in the game so they shouldnt be using AI in a duel. they should be busy beating the crap out of the opponent, and simply healing themself.

and in jedi vs jedi duel, its the same thing....using avoid incap guarantees that you loose in 3.5mins unless your opponent doesnt realize whats going on and somehow manages to die in 3mins or less....not likely in a jedi duel

You're trying to drag me in to a pvp situation here. You cannot equate a duel to pvp encounters (forced or otherwise). If you see a situation where combat between a bh and jedi is equal to spamming invites for duels then this convo is over.

1.There is nothing preventing you from getting hit by them either.

2.When they use AI they cannot be incapped for 30s but you can. So you hit and cannot incap them.

3.So AI cannot incap you either.

So there is nothing preventing anyone from being attacked true but there IS something preventing them from being incapped and they can heal back their health or hit AI again.

Point being if you run out of range of someone with AI on neither can attack each other. They aren't running away forever or something like when your low on force you run till you get it back, but they are only running for 30s.

Either way you don't lose just because you AI or Avoid someone with AI on

Its tactic and counter.

They AI to get offensive lead. (COUNTERING your attacks)

You Stasis or go out of range to COUNTER AI

Oh and I didn't know duels weren't "PVP"

PVP as I believed was "Player verse Player" Now whether from the mechanics of Bounty Hunting, Galatic Civil War, or a consented fight (duel) its still a "Player verse Player" situation because that both are players and enaging each other in combat.
