I can't agree with you more. I am really in a state of dismay right now. I've been playing for six months, and about 90% of the time has been grinding xp all for the goal of becomming Jedi. Now that I am Jedi, after I have invested all this time, I have found that I am at best only slightly better than most non-Jedi professions, and there are many non-Jedi profressions that are more powerful than my current template of MLS/MDEF/4040 Healer or previous template of MLS/MDEF/0002 Enhancer/3000 Healer. Simply stated, Jedi are not that great. In all fairness, a profession that requires so much xp should be better than one that requires less xp.
All of the problems with the Jedi profession can be attributed to the producers' lack of prescience regarding the course of the game--i.e. they didn't anticipate the number of Jedi that exist per server. To compensate for their mistake they've nerfed our profession as a way to detract more players from becomming Jedi, and in the process pissed a lot of people off (both pre-existing Jedi who have experienced nerf after nerf and new Jedi who find themselves extremely weak for a Jedi). I have lost a lot of confidence in this game and I'm very close to quitting altogether. The only thing keeping me around right now is the bleak hope that the Jedi profession will be fixed.
I'm so sick of hearing about how the professions need to be balanced. Those bounty hunters or whoever else want to be able to kill Jedi need to get it out of their system now because a Jedi shouldn't have to spend 45 minutes just to take out some cloned fool with a rifle (I believe Mace Windu did it in about 15 seconds). I was fighting a TKM/Medic or Doc the other day and I couldn't kill him, and I'm a full template Jedi. My lightsaber is so weak because I can't find pearls or crystals to put in it. I used to be able to solo nightsisters and Krayts and get maybe one pearl or crystal an hour, but I can't even do that anymore with the new AI upgrade that came with Publish 24. Even when I do get an occasional pearl or crystal it almost always tunes to complete crap (around 50 damage and -3 force cost).
I know the community relations people say all of this has been forwarded to the developers, but are they really going to do something about this? Do they even pay any attention at all to what the players say? I need to stop now, because the more I think about it the more outraged I get and the closer I get to canceling my account. And by the way, you'd think SOE would prefer honesty on these forums, but it appears as if they've instructed you to contain all "negative" and "non-productive" posts. I'm sorry, but I think a negative, honest post is much more productive than a forum censored by a company looking to paint a happy picture when in reality things are in complete chaos. Please fix the Jedi profession before you completely ruin my, as well as many, many, many other players' experience with Star Wars Galaxies and SOE.
