Stop trying to limit the Jedi after you alrady have one.

I dont think that would affect many people but total n00bs..
And since thats really their big marketing point...buy game and become jedi..I dont think they could afford to close it off.
Personally, for as "lame" as the holocrons were..it had more randomness and a feeling of not knowing more than the village, and I prefer that method over the viallge quests...
IMHO I have never liked the idea of a "village that makes u a Jedi" but meh what can I do..
I wouldn't be mad if they revamped it AGAIN. (After fixing smuggler, crafters, entertainers, FRS, and the GCW)Message Edited by DarthINSANUS on 09-28-2005 10:47 AM
Define total "n00bs". Brand new players to the game or those just now trying to do the village? And if your meaning is the latter, it sounds alittle conceded and naive.I would love to have the "unlocking" mechanic of pre-holo grind. You were still able to get your jedi, but nobody had a clue to get it. it was a total mystery and the very, very, very, few Jedi that appeared were constanlty stared at in awe because they were practiculary unheard of. Now.....its like "oh..jedi. ok. Oh cool, vader is landing!"
Pre-holo?
There were no Jedi unlocked before the Holocron was inserted into the game..that was the reason they inserted it. They had waited for months for someone to unlock and no one did though a few were close. Close though is a misnomer here because it means they needed to guess which of the 30+ professions they needed to master next without knowing that they needed to master any.
Random systems and mysterious systems suck. They give the players no way of knowing that the system actually works as it should or that something isn't broken and it just frustrates paying customers which is a bad business decision.
I stand corrected. But it was almost immediately afterward that jedi showed up, but they were very slow to show. Thats what I meant. But, correct me if Im wrong, wasn't the original intent of the system to keep it completely secret, and then after no one getting Jedi then they implemented the Holos?
I suspect that was the original intent but they certainly didn't intend for no one to get Jedi they hyped Jedi up even in the pre-holo days as being very attainable. The design was a very poor choice though because no one was going to get it that way by "accident" after nearly 3 months no one had done it and they were paniced becaus everyone was yelling that it wasn't even implemented yet. That is the fundimental issue with mysterious systems. No one trusts them and the players get frustrated and angry at their inability to see progress to their goals.
Hey now I like this idea. I allways thought the hologrind was stupid and the village just to easy. This would be an interesting idea.

It would've been interesting too if they had made it so it was a random collection of badges for each person, with a random number above - for example, 20 - being required to unlock FS.
You could have one person who has to master 3 professions, visit 13 POIs, kill an Ancient Krayt, get the Intellect and Altruism badges and visit the kill Necrosis.
Another person could get a completely different set of badges to get, determined at the outset of their character creation much like the holos were.
That way the whole "path to Jedi" would be entirely random and would actually involve exploring the game to its fullest.
Food for thought.
it made the player a well rounded one, pre 9 you didnt see retarded things like : " i though only scouts could burstrun","i dont get an experimentation bar when i go to make a saber" and noob crap like that.

The only real issue I have with the village is this: how could a bunch of Force Sensitive tree huggers and an Old Man you know nothing about set you on your way to the Padawan Trials and Jedi-hood? This makes no sense. I can see how the villagers can enhance your abilities (as they do now) for your character, but what makes the knowledge they give to you anything related to Jedi? Not at any point in the village are you talk anything Jedi-related. Not even the Old Man teaches you anything Jedi-related. It is basically, "oh you're Force Sensitive now, here's a Lightsaber, figure out Jedi for yourself."
It doesn't even make sense that your NPC trainers are some random various skill trainers throughout the Galaxy. The whole thing should have really revolved around a Jedi NPC from the Old Republic that is in hiding and sees your potential. Ah well, SWG2.
It makes as much sense and mastering proffessions to get your lightsaber.
What did mastering chef teach about the force?
What did mastering dancer teach you about the force?
What did mastering bounty hunter teach you about the force?

I have to respectfully disagree, most hologrinders I met had absolutely no idea how to play the profession they were in. Combat profs were usually usless as fighters because they were in the middle of switching profs, and had no idea how to do anything but grind. Crafters were even worse, grinding on only one component for hours and hours, that doesn't give any kind of representation of the entire profession. Once they got to master, they would have no idea what they were doing and could not make any decent advanced items. I don't want to even know how many crafters mastered and dropped a trade without even experimenting on one item.
Hologrinding was not a good time in the game as I remember it. No one was taking any pride in their profession, no one was playing the game. It was always just a race to see how quickly you would be able to drop whatever you were in.

I'd be pretty ticked off because everyone deserves a Jedi if they want it. I don't care about how many are out there. I have a Jedi already so it wouldn't actually affect me but I'd like to see my friends who want to become a Jedi at that level one day and same with anyone else who is trying.
This is a foolish statement -- if you dont think thisaffects the entire game then you are either so new you dont have a clue or your in denial.. take your choice.
This is the real issue like it or not.
Two points:
- Not gonna happen, nor have the devs even hinted at the idea of it happening.
- You're a troll.
