Still wondering if the other alphas have any penalty systems in place, such as Jedi do with BH/xp loss?
i'm still going over concepts like this on the hotline phone...
LOL...well, come on! Inquiring minds want to know! This is a big issue, because if these other alpha classes are to be as strong as the Jedi class is perceived to be (used that phrase because I disagree with those perceptions) but have no penalties for choosing that path, then you can replace the OMGZ TEHRE R 2 MANY JEDEYE!!!1!! THE YMUST B NERFD KNOW!!!111!!ONE!! threads with similarly titled Mando/Imp Inquisition threads, because I can't think why anyone but the most devout Jedi fan would accept the Jedi grind and penalties when they have the other alpha classes to choose from. I'm also assuming that their skill boxes, again assuming they are as "strong" as Jedi, would have the same extremely high xp requirements.

awsome ideas. it would be cool if you could change back and forth if you want, like if you get bored of being a jedi you could get rid of your jedi stuff and start grinding for another prof. and if you want to go back you would have to start the jedi grind all over again.
changing would suck

Yeah, the cyborg would have very obvious hindrances if killed. Things like system disruption (skills not working properly for a period of time), system meltdown (requiring acquisition of replacement parts of relearning a skill box), or weapon disruption (lessened accuracy, range, or speed) could all be applied. I think straight xp loss has proven very unpopular, so I was leaning towards other ways of penalizing character advancement through slowing down versus straight xp loss.

I love this too. SWG is indeed in dire need of other alpha classes, like someone said, everyone is going to hit alpha sometime or another, mere fact. We just need more variety.

also this has been stated before and was ignored by devs when most players got the idea they wont be getting mandalorian armor when the death watch bunker guides canme out and realized how impossible obtaining a full suit and that suit wouldnt even be color coded. I wish they would add other endgame pros cause the only pro as of now that cant be done in 1 day are like entertainer and weaponsmith but those arent even combat so they wouldnt be endgame to begin with. I do hope the devs read a this board and take it into concept or anyboard resembling this.

Mony many many many many people are tired of the jedi situation. too many is the common complaint. but how to rectify this? population caps seem like an ok idea, but that only stops more jedi from entering, and can't get rid of any current jedi. the only patht hat could have any semblance of being effective would be another alpha class to entice people to work towards. Here's some ideas I had, that all branch off from the village.
The village XP must change from force sensitive to simply elite skill XP, to shift away from the force sensitive focus of it. the rest of the village seems fine as it encompases a wide variety of skillsets and the quests themselves have no REAL forcebend to them.
Option 1) Mandalorian
After completing your 6 lines at the village, the old man will visit you, however, this time you may say: "I believe i'd like to follow a different path." He laments but acquiesces. A little while later, another NPC visits you, "a retired soldier," who informs you of the following:
"XYZ, have you ever wondered about your past?"
"Yes i have/no i havent"
"You blood is something special, a majestic lineage runs in your veins."
"How do you mean?"
"Have you ever heard of a race called: the Mandolorians?"
"I know they tried to conquer the galaxy, i'd like no association with them..."
"Heh, that may be true, but that was quite a task to undertake, only a truely great society would have attempted that."
"Do you have a point, old man?"
"Ah, yes, thats what i like to see, right to the point. Son, you may be surprised to know this, but in you beats the heart of a Mandolorian."
"A mandolorian? Me? you're mistaken, you must be. The mandolorians have been wiped out."
"Thats what they say, don't they. And for the most part thats true. There is still a mandolorian here and there, but you're close enough. I've researched this kiddo. We've been looking at you for a long time."
"We?"
"Hah, very perceptive. Come, let us show you the path to reclaim your birthright."
And so begins you on your path to a mandolorian warrior. learning the weapons skills, crafting special enhancers for weaponsmiths so that you may use more powerful ones. all the territory of a by-definition elite combat force. Mandolorian also has enough lore behind it to draw the would-be jedi to it, and perhaps a few current jedi as well.
2) Imperial Inquisitor
obviously, you'd need to be part of the empire to be an inquisitor. the inquisitors are a qabal of force sensitive agents who investigate everything from jedi to inefficient performance within the empire. they're deadly combatants with vast resources and a keen sense of the force. After telling the old man you wish to take a different path, an imperial inquisitor will land in a lamda shuttle near you in the wilderness or a player city.
"XYZ! Halt! By Imperial Directive 1XT36-178P, you are deemed worthy to enter the Imperial Inquisition. In your very irregular case, we have decided to allow you the choice of joining or remaining a citizen. Do you Accept?"
"Oh no! an inquisitor! Whatever it was I did, I DIDN'T DO IT!!"
"There's no need for Drama, XYZ, you are not under investigation... yet."
"(sigh of relief) The Imperial Inquisition? Why would you want me."
"Please, do not insult me. We know full well your involvement in aurilia. You were discovered as a force sensitive, and trained there. Your saga may end there, or it may continue, depending on how you decide here today."
"I will accept then, i have no choice."
"good. I believe you are looking at this the wrong way, XYZ, it is an honor to be an inquisitor. Come, board the shuttle."
After accepting, you are taken to Lord Hethrir at the emperor's retreat on naboo. He will indoctrinate you into the inquisition.
In addition to the combat abilities granted by becoming a part of the inquisition, Inquisitors gain a TEF against any rebel Jedi using an ability that consumes force in an imperial controlled, NPC city.
Well, those were MY ideas for additional alpha class alternatives to jedi. The skill trees can be almost cut and paste then rename for their abilities compared to jedi abilities, with a few modifications here and there. any Jedi who were jedi before the creation of these classesshould be given the option of converting into them at any time. their jedi skill boxes will give them credit for mandolorian or inquisitor skill boxes, though they must still take the entrance quests should they decide to join either.
If you'd like to contribute more alpha class ideas or add to mine, go right ahead. Discussion on adding more alpha classes to the game is irrelevent. people will always be working to an alpha class and without alternatives they will all become jedi. with alternatives, we can expect many of them, or even most of them, will not add to the jedi population. this will also give jedi a counter balance and competition which would allow for mutual upgrades to skills.
AWESOME idea ! Hell I might even give up Jedi for "Master Mandolorain Supersoldier" lol hella sharp ideas bud keep em coming ( Devs RED THIS )

Wow...this would be so cool. You could have your faction Alpha Classes...your crafting ones...Jedi ones (make Light and Dark seperate)....Soldier Class...Different Type of Soldier (Like Echani or Cyborg for those who don't want to be Ranged Mandalorians even though they had *some* melee training)... it would take forever though...but..then again...all the pilot and shipwright profs were added in JTL...So that's 4 right there. And they could EASILY use the Force Sensitive Quests as a route to this endgame content.
