Thread: Would You Give Up Your Jedi for the Good of the Game?
Dumb and unneccessary question.
NO WAY JOSE.
Its too late to ask people to give up their Jedi. But it definitly would be best for the game.
Most people I know are too afraid to go overt because their afraid of running into bands of Jedi and being slaughtered instantly. People complain a lot about how there were only a couple of Jedi in this time period and it ruins immersion and all that...(personally, I could care less about that, but a lot of people care about it a LOT, and its understandable. While you can make the argument that TKM were not in any of the star wars films, nobody made a huge deal about how they were extinct and stuff. When you take an iconic profession and make it what its not supposed to be, well...that causes problems.)
Plus, if half the playerbase is 1.5 times stronger than average, then the other half is screwed because we have no desire to play as a Jedi.
Maybe in your eyes your not ruining the game, but for the people who have no desire to play jedi, yet have to put up with them, the profession definitly is a problem. Where do you think the Jedi hate comes from? Dont tell me you honestly believe its jealousy. But, its too late to eliminate the jedi or anything. The best solution would be the light/dark factions, IMHO. Normal players shouldnt ever have to worry about being ganked by a Jedi player. Because they do have to worry about it, the GCW system is going unused. Which is a shame, because I think it would be pretty cool to battle for control of key cities across the galaxy.
Thats just my two cents; flame away.
They already removed my Jedi.
I now have a robe wearing monk with a glowing wooden staff, decent defenses, and great healing.
This is not a Jedi.
Ummm... This is uh... Star Wars. Why don't we delete the Stormtroopers too? There are way too many of them around.
/end sarcasm
I think the "too many jedi at the starports" problem is a valid issue as it looks sometimes as though we're at a Star Wars convention and not in the movie environment. I think it can be resolved without being drastic and deleting them. ...and no the fix is not making Jedi completely worthless or un-fun to play so people quit (we've already been there so let's stay away from nerfs!)
A system that makes Jedi not want to be seen in cities or battle within city limits would be better. Jedi usually wear their hooded cloaks to hide their Jedi garb while in public. This would be a start...

And FYI, origionally there was a cap of 10 Jedi per server. Then when those caps were met, massive cancellations. Then they moved it to 30 Jedi per server, when that cap was met, massive cancellations. How do you know this? Do you work for SOE?
SWG would have died then and there if not for the christmas holochrons and the complete removal of the Jedi caps.
So take your 'Jedi ruined SWG' rhetoric and shove it, 'cause without Jedi, SWG would have died in 2004 I m not so sure. I don't know why people get so hostile on the jedi boards- merely starting a discussion. I think now, yes taking jedi out would be tougher than if they hadn't putthem in originally..

Allow me to explain. We worked very hard for what we have gained, well.. most of us have... And if they came and took it away 'for the sake of the game' it would be a similar reaction as you would have if Greempeace came and stole your car for the sake of the whole planet's air supply. 1, your car is not the problem, 2, taking your car would not solve the problem, 3, you worked hard to get your car.
It's the same thing here. 1, Major Nerfs, massive imbalance and lies are the problem, not Jedi.2, removing Jedi will not suddenly stop the Nerfs, balance the game, make the DEVs tell the truth. 3, players put between 2 months to years into getting their Jedi, suddenly taking that way is just wrong.

I read, I pay attention.

We get hostile because 4 or 5 non jedi coe in here a day MINIMUNM and say the same thing, and we were tired of it after the FIRST six months. The fact is, unless you have played a Jedi, you have NO IDEA what it's like. People think that because they got their butts kicked once, or beceause they saw some Jedi deuling once, they know what it's like, and they DON'T, and it's relly really frustrating because somewhere, there's an SOE bean counter who records messages like these and decides that because enough people complained about it, they must be right, so yet ANOTHER Nerf goes into place.
This is part of what's so wrong with SWG... In WoW, or Eq2 or any other MMORPG or tabletop or LARP you don't see lvl 15 characters whining because they lost to a level 60. And in those other games, you don't see the DEVs or GM saying "well golly gosh they're right... we better nerf those lvl 60s so the lower level players can compete!" That would be rediculous.
