this was never a level based bame....thats what set this game apart, it was proff based

The above statement is so untrue. The DEV's have stated many times that SWG pre-CU was a level based system, a level based system that was hidden from the population.

it was a levelless game.

Maigy, which is it? Level or levelless? Not trying to flame just pointing out the contradiction in your post.

I've said it alot, and I will say it again.

I've been around on and off since launch and I've never had more fun since the CU came out. I actually WANT to log-in and play the game.

And I can't believe people whine about the new button icons. If those would have been around at launch everyone and their dog would be like "THOSE ARE THE COOLEST ICONS EVER!" But no..they took away your icons that look like something my 6 year old nephew drew and y'all are sad. I just find it humorous. Sometimes I really think that people didn't even play during pre-CU, the game was terrible IMOH. If it wasn't then why did everyone want a CU so bad?

I enjoyed myself for quite a while without my jedi in the PreCU days - and its not like jedi have made the game w*famazing since... I'd consider it. It's al about fun, or so I hear.

this was never a level based game, it was based off of HAM and proffessions pre-CU

u didnt have to run around looking for the little circles to tell u if u could kill something

pve has taken a huge hit in the CU, no immersion IMO

Well, since we're playing the quoting game

Cojonelso wrote:

A few of my reasons:

1) The new interface is TERRIBLE!!

The only differance is the colored Icons which many of us like

Would it kill the DEVs to add the option for the old interface back? And no, the coloured icons aren't the only difference. They are all graphics now, harder to quickly recognize than the old simple symbols. The HAM bar is larger and gaudy, the group window can no longer be minimized, the cool-down timers make it look like WoW, etc.

2) The particle effects are gaudy and unrealistic

How does one choose what is or is not realistic in a SCI-FI mmorpg enviroment...?

OK, take a look at Pre-CU. That wasa reasonable level of realism in terms of particle effects. Now take a look at Post-CU. Stun someone, you'll see these weird pink lines surround them. Get someone dizzy, you'll see the cartoony spinning circles above their heads. They may as well have put in the tweeting birds sound effect so we'd get the complete Saturday Morning experience...

3) The level system is poorly conceived, and destroyed one of the most original things in the game.

Has always been in place just not viewable to players but yes there always was a Level system in game... Like Most ROLE playing games

That is an outright lie. Try to remember Pre-CU. Take two riflemen, give them the exact same weapons and armour and let them only use rifleman specials. Send them out to PvE and they will be exactly the same, regardless of their secondary professions. One could be a Master Image Designer, the other a Master Pistoleer, and aside from a few minor ranged mods, they will be identical when restricted to rifleman specials. Post CU, the Rifleman-Pistoleer will have a far higher CL and thus be much more successful in PvE. This severely limits template options. For most of my SWG life I always had a Primary combat profession and a secondary non-combat profession that constantly changed so I could experience all aspects of the game. It would be suicide to do that now. This level status is treated as something that has always been here only by the ignorant. That was part of the sublime beauty of SWG: It was unique in that it didn't use the level system. Now it is, as you say, LIKE MOST ROLE PLAYING GAMES.

4) People are STILL soloing every bloody creature in the game, it just takes a different set of skills.

Not everyOne likes being forced to Be grouped and have to rely on others. ANd soloing can be done if you know how to use your character good if you can't then you aren't using your full potenional, But do you really like the idea of forced to group ???

No, I hate it. Which is another beef I have against your precious CU. Forced grouping, especially for grinding is a terrible idea. That's not what I meant by that comment. The CU was supposed to eliminate the potential for high-end MOBs to be soloed and farmed. It has failed utterly in that respect because, as I said, people with the right template can still solo anything in the game, including the CL 500 Jedi Sentinals. And I can solo my way to a full template? Sure! Given 10 years of solid 3 hours a day everyday grinding, I'll bet I could. I could probably get enough XP for a full template if I was already full templateto solo grind, but... well, I think you can see the problem

5) Am I the only one who actually liked the look of composite armour?

Still avaible in game , And comp looks cool... 80 guys at a starport all in comp armor???? not cool

This one's more of a personal choice for me. I liked the composite armour armies. Gave a sense of actual uniform to the game. More of a difference of taste on this one.

6) I would love to be able to wear my sets of Stormtrooper, Scout trooper, Assault trooper, RIS and composite armour again, even if just for show. Same goes for some of the cool-looking weapons I've looted, like the Necrosis Nightblade

Not all of us feel a Need to show off our looting abilities in public, nor need to wear non functional armor... tho I supose you are right that the devs should give a no armor value display feature for many ppl that do like to show off thererare Items. and possibly promote sales , I agree with you here if only in part, but CL 1 day 1 NOOB in triple layer comp was out of game balance.

Well, you agreed with the core of my statement, so no need to counter this one.

7) Docs actually crafting medicine instead of using healing spells

The Doc is the only one that knows the differance here Pre CU was the same stuff with a lil heart floating out of the heavens onto your head ..... thats not magical?

It was a tolerable level of unrealism. At least they used medicine instead of somehow magically curing you with their mind.

8) The creatures were more realistically balanced. My current CL-1 alt would never get mauled and killed by an angry bunny (frenzied durni) in the old system.

I think this part is seeing the unattanble past as glory days... today is much easier for noobs to level, not even sure what point you tried to make with this statement other then you pised off a group of CL 15 Duri with your crafter and got stampeded. that why we get 250 SP if you over specialize you become weak in other areas true with any thing In game or RL and PRE CU

You make the ignorant statement here that everyone wants to be a combatant. I have no doubt it is easier for noobs to level, but my alt is a crafter/entertainer. No CLs in either of those. What I am referring to is the fact that she can no longer take a drive across the Naboo plains to get to her house without pissing off a swarm of butterflies or a small rodent and getting killed by it. At least in the old system ANY CHARACTER could squash a kreetle, as it should be. If a bunny attacked you in real life, would you be doomed if you had no military training? I don't think so...

9) /mourn AT-ST. If it wasn't almost COMPLETELY useless before, it sure is now...

You meen ppl explotiong missions and Rancor and Kryat using there AT ST to kill was better??? yes its true Imperial heavy pet AT ST is now only vailid in def or assualt on faction bases you can no longer kill masses of ewoks with them... tho the empire did in th e movie don't meen its right

Ha ha ha.... your last statement kills me. "Sure, they did it in the movies that this game is supposed to replicate, but in that case the movies are wrong!!" The AT-ST had a bad role Pre-CU I admit, being used in exploits and as a one-man solo group, but at least it had a role. Not so anymore. And if you think it's valid in defense or assault on faction bases, take a level 80 character and /con one of them. Then see how long it takes you down. It still costs a ridiculous amount of FP (over 10000 on a neutral planet) and it is quite literally useless now, along with every other faction pet.

10) Groups are a hassle. Hard to avoid vis, hard to get together, hard to keep together.

Its called a friends list... we use them and never have any trouble ever forming groups or getting into a currently operating group.. pre-CU was no differnt infact the differnce is PRE CU you got vis even while grouped and had to solo on endor alone!!!!!

Hey, I'd love to use my friends list... except all my friends left during the CU. My friends list, which used to have around 100 people on it, now has been reduced to 30. When I am on, typically 2-5 of them are on, maybe 10 on a good day. And about half of those are crafters. If I try and talk to someone else, they're usually either already in a group that's full or busy doing something else.

11) The over-equalization of weapons, armour, etc, along with the introduction of far better, easy-to-get quest loot has screwed over crafters and made the industry far less competitive than it used to be. Same deal in PvP, one fencer/swordsman/carbineer/whatever is essentially the same as the next.

CU = Combat upgrade and re-balance. OMG how can you complain there is no longer a I WIN template!!!! how dare you even wish for the MR mind shot days back...unless you were the guy with the kryat tissue jawa gun that ran at 50m from his target and ambushed ppl getting missions in there own faction bases to get FP ......

I agree some things needed to be brought down in power, particularily stun weapons and armour effectiveness and the predominance of mind-based attacks. That said, the CU went completely overboard with this, every person now being a carbon copy of the next. At least before there was something to aim for, something to strive for, an end game beyond Jedi. And those uber PvP templates? Remember how there used to be profs besides Jedi involved in PvP? You'd see someone walking around with a stun batton or a power hammer, knocking out Jedi left right and center? Yeah, in case you haven't notice, that doesn't happen much anymore, because EVERYONE'S THE SAME!! It sucked getting your mind blasted to pieces, but I would gladly take them back over this abomination we have in live now!!

12) I miss my HAM bar....

You miss Mind pool draining ppl... hmmm were you a Pike man or CM or rifleman in pre CU???

Most of the time I was neither. I have, to date, mastered about 25 professions in the game. I have been both a rifleman and a pikeman at various points throughout the game, though I have never actually been a combat medic. That said, the HAM bar was another unique element of SWG that fell away in SOE's pathetic attempt to make a copy of their competitor's products with the Star Wars skin on it. Mind draining sucked, but at least fights were over faster. I much prefer PvP to be over in under a minute than over an hour. The HAM had it's flaws, but they could have been fixed with a little effort.

13) Entertainers actually used to DO something, besides provide a bonus to XP. How far they have fallen...

THere all still afk .. just they can't special buff you until there back so you miss the free buffs from bots that were never really on line anyway.... hahah

I never get anything besides an experience buff anyways. As I said, my alt is an entertainer. She feels this more than anything. Before, I used to rack up 50k a day just being at the keyboad, buffing people's mind, healing their battle fatigue and healing their wounds. Now I'm lucky if people bother to come visit the cantina at all, let alone tip me anything.

14) The game has turned from "Whack the other guy's mind and hit him with the uberest DOT" warinto "Heal and defensive mods" wars. Though the old system was flawed, I did prefer it. None of this hour-long PvP garbage....

Never seen some one so drastically contridict there own staement in so few words.... that must have taken alot of effort..... so basically you didn't like the old and don't like the new.... people like you need to consider a new game and let all of us that love it now be happy .. THEY SAID there will not be a pre cu server EVER ...reapatly ... so why do you ppl keep this going

I DID like the Pre-CU game. Never, NOT ONCE in this ENTIRE RANT have I EVER said that I didn't like pre-cu anddon't you DARE suggest that I would. I said the game before had it's flaws, it was not perfect. Then again, no game ever is. SOE has changed their minds in the past. I still hold out hope that they will do so with this. Why do I bother? Why do I expend so much energy instead of moving on and picking up a new game? Three reasons:

1. It's Star Wars. I'm a nerd. It's always been a dream of mine to experience the Star Wars universe fully and completely and Galaxies is the closest thing I've had to that. As had been said many times, "It may be bugged, poorly managed, glitchy, unbalanced, broken and at many times boring, but it's the only one we've got." If there were another Star Wars MMORPG, I'd jump over in a heartbeat just to stop giving SOE my money.

2. I've invested two years into this game, it's not that easy to just pack up and leave all my friends and acheivements behind.

3. I still hold onto my last scrap of hope that something will be done to fix this game and undo the horrendous mistakes that have been done to it.

15) Three words: FRS. Well, it's kinda three words, if you count each letter as a word....

Jedi ...force to kill non Jedi... ok maybe as a dark Jedi knight that would almost makes sense..... for a light Jedi.... you miss being a PvP god killing noobs at starports for rating all day long.... really ... you think thats what Jedi is leave the game now and try actually watching the movies before asking for your Im better I win button

The FRS was broken, but at least it was there. I still take broken content over no content. They could at least turn the FRS back on now that the respec is over to give us something to do until the new one is finished.

16) Decent DPS sabers.

I have a 350 DPS saber and kill most BH... not all... Most .. and its even and fair..sure better is nice but if you use some stratigy and tactics you can win.... just there is no longer I beat you macros in game is all

It's even and fair, so what did you spend your months earning Jedi for? So you could be on par with a BH that takes two weeks to finish his template? Aren't you supposed to be 1.5x stronger than them? Or are you a post-CU unlock who doesn't remember the glory days when Jedi actually meant something? Besides, BH fighting is not everything in this game. Try PvE, there are still some of us who prefer to do that. And that's where you really feel the damage hampering...

17) Diversity in weapons types. No one cares about elemental damage, or even energy vs. kinetic damage any more, it's just the overall DPS that matters. Stun was overpowered, but that could have been easily fixed.

ASK a BH if any armor will do... and they will laugh in your face the explain how hard it is to save up for that special anti - Jedi RIS armor

Notice how this point is about weapons while you are speaking about armour.

18) Templates have been restricted. For many months before I became a Jedi I would have one combat prof forhologrinding/FS grindingand one non-combat prof forwhen I decided I needed a break from the grind. Not possible to do that anymore, as your CL will be under 50 and you will be nigh-on useless.

True in Pre CU as its is now...your just trying to find stuff to cry about

See my earlier point on levels.

19) The option was available to grind solo. Yes, it was pretty much all anyone ever did and I'm not saying that part was right, but I'd still like the option to be able to grind solo and still be able to finish my template in under 10 years.

NOTE your # 3 post ...so which is you can or can't solo stuff...make up your mind at least when you cry arround...sheesh

You can solo stuff at full template. You can't grind solo. Personally, I'd prefer it to be the other way around. I don't want to have to wait on people to grind up my template. I don't want to have to teach a noob why it's a bad idea to attack the lair before the tank does. I want to be able to grind quickly, efficently, whenever it suits MY time. Then, after I've reached full template, I expect to be forced to group if I want to take on high-end content. Currently, it is the other way around.

20) There was still some semblance of a GCW. It wasn't the greatest thing ever, but it was still there.

The war is more active now then ever before ... the fact you can fight for control over the planetts ..and see actually effect is cool.... I think you have not played the game and just read the forums.......

Fighting for control over the planets was around Pre-CU... how long have you been around, anyways? I think it is YOU who do not play the game, or didn't before the CU anyways... you wouldn't happen to have come across that account on E-bay, would you? The GCW was active when the game started simply for the heck of it. The GCW was active after the GCW patch with people struggling over control of planets and not just Jedi PvPing each other while others save up enough FP to drop more bases than the other guy. Go ask in the GCW forum if the GCW is alive and well and you'll get your true response.

21) Med centers are now nothing more than big decorations.

AS aposed to full of afk tumblers and medics going from novice to master in less then 30 min... yeah Im glad there empty now...

At least they served a purpose back then and it was a place where you would go to get wound heals

.....do you still want more examples, or should I stop now?

I think ... before making a flame on the best thing to happen to SWg... making the game use all armors weapons and combat professions and asking for your old school I WIN Im UBER button and macro for mind shot and all the other nonsense you poored onto this page you should at least think about your complaining ....

1) they said there will never be PRE CU server...so give it up....

No

2) if you hate the new system and other stuff so much.... no one is forceing you to pay ....head out... there is the door... and I know it might blow you away that alot of ppl like the new BALANCED system...its not perfect... but ... neither is life...

I did. I came back a while ago after my character could at least grind again. I still hold out hope for a better game in the future. Maybe when Lucasarts takes back their licensing rights and hands it to a game company with a clue I'll get my wish.

3) you contricdicted yourself so many times Im not going to count...

Be my guest.

The CU is not going anyway... its SWG ... accept it or move on to a new game... bottom line.

You guys remember how blasters were worthless pre-cu? Like the only true BHs were TKM/BH4xxx? Well, there were a few uber DoT pistols, but it didn't feel starwarsy when everyone was a space ninja.

did you read my post... or are you just illiterate.

the levels had no bearing ont he game, all the pre-cu levels did was estimate how strong you were so it could generate a con vs what you targetted, and 90% of the time the estimate was wrong.... now by having levels you get damage mitiagtion and damge multipliers.
