Sounds great to me! Hard core, system governed PvP was what I've wanted since the day I heard this game was being developed.

Can't wait for smuggler PvP!

this is EXACTLY how i got on the damn terms and got killed today. it says specifically in the patch notes that you get visibility from "non-aligned" pc's, not from other rebels. bastards . . .

You know, this is the whole reason why people are upset.

This is what the patch notes said:

Jedi should now be able to completely clear their visibility after 3 weeks if they don't do anything else to increase it during this time. Visibility is gained when drawing your lightsaber or using force powers for each NPC or non allied PC within range.

And this is how it actually is:

"Equipping a lightsaber, starting combat with a lightsaber and every Jedi action (powers and lightsaber specials) all have a visibility modifier. Each PC or NPC (non-animal)that observes a Jedi performing one of those actions based on their faction will increase the Jedi's visibility. An opposed faction member will increase visibility by the full amount, an allied faction member will increase it by 1/4 the amount and any neutral will increase it by 1/2 the amount."

This is why people saySOEis lying. Your postscompletely contradict each other. Take this one for exampe: You say non-allied PCs will generate visibility, implying that allied PCs wont. But then you backpedal and say that allied PCs will give you visibility as well. Basically, this shows that you don't have your act together.

Just a question... where is the reward?

Being greifed by most professions because I'm a jedi? Getting beat in the GCW by stackers over 75% of the time? Maybe the possibility of NEVER getting off the terms unless I quit my jedi character, the abality to be attacked UNBUFFED when I log in, the abality to spend a ton of time on my knight trials to enter a non-existant frs except for exploiters.

I don't know about this, but this isn't the 'reward' I invisioned.

We really need a discussion with the developers on the issue of visibility.

Why its there, and if there could be compromises made to keep the fun in jedi, and punish those that go out of line.

Im okay with factionally aligned PCs still giving visibility, but why is same factionally aligned jedi giving visibility?
They want to remain out of the publics eye just as much as you do.

But the best compromise... give us no visibility gained from groupmembers.
Groupmembers dont rat each other out, they work together towards a greater purpose!

Let people group - this will bring a load of fun back into jedi - allowing people to actually interact with people in this Massive Multiplayer Online Game.

Come on! Do it!
Please?

hmmm new visibility

can you say blatent attempt to slow down the huge buble of padiwans about to get introed into the system?

3 weeks and multiple kills and loss after getting on terms?

what moron thought this was the perfect solution?

im on the terms very infrequently but this Bullsheet you are pandering isnt gonna fly

one introduces soe induced harrassment,ie customers are penalized multiple times, and its santioned by soe.

two were then rendered moot to play that jedi for a very extended period of time, because of your new harrassment.

three you think were gonna pay to repeat ganked, then unable to play for weeks, and you think this doesnt violate your own eula?

personally i have no respect to lose for soe,but i can now be in awe of the level of outright violation of there own harrassment protocols.

remind me why i pay these losers again?

so even the patch notes are lying in the "non-allied pcs" things,

so basically we just get shafted, just as before, hunt alone, get massive xp loss, minimum of 50k, even at padawan with no skills...

thanks for clearing that up,

now we really know how much of the shaft we are getting

great job!

Some good additions to the post JustG. But I'm just wondering where this part of it all comes in?

JustG wrote:

The path of the Jedi towards obtaining mastery of the Force is long and arduous, but with great rewards for those who overcome such a challenge.

The general feeling of many ... well pretty much nearly all Jedi is that there is no reward whatsoever for perservering to the end. The FRS is a hopeless mess (as I'm sure Arjun, ifnot this very forum, has made you well aware). A full completed Knight Template is onlymarginally better than a normal profession. Some normal templates (read: defense stackers) will absolutely shred a full Knight. Normal profession skills (Intimidate from Novice Brawler here) are vastly superior to Jedi skills. The game is rife with weapons (mind fire, most of the time) that a Jedi is utterly helpless against. Etc ... etc ...

So, ok, we have a huge tremendous risk associated with being a Jedi. I don't think anyone would truly mind that if there were some actual reward to being a Jedi other than saying "I'm a Jedi". Maybe the Dev team sees a reward that the rest of us don't? I've had my finished template done for quite some time and honestly, I can't bear to log my Jedi in just for the "reward" and "priveledge" of having to deal with all the clowns in this game that want to harrass or grief me just because the toon is a Jedi.

JustG and Keldarin -

Respectfully, I have to push strongly that any ingame mechanism that strongly discourages you playing with your friends in a MMORPG is not healthy for the community, for the fun of the game, nor make sense.

Please exclude grouped members. It will allow friendly challenge duels between friends and community without a harsh price. It will allow groups to actually try out some hunting and PvP with their Jedi FRIENDS.

As well, we need specifics as to the range of 'sighting' andideally a /showVisibility command to measure visibility and work any bugs out of the system. There have been far too many reports of jedi just logging in after a long break and immediately on the terminals. Jedi visibility is extremely difficult to test since in testing, jedi suffer death and setbacks. Players want jedi to be less visibile in the game world, and the net effect of /showVisibility is training the Jedi population to do just thatl. Find places in the wild they can train remotely. The punishment for not 'doing the right thing' as a jedi is to be hunted by bounty hunters.

actually it would be nice if jedi could at least get some sort of warning, that the BH is near. Aren't we supposed to be able to at least detect this in some way?

Perhaps having the BH show up asa Red dot on overhead and radar. As you progressed in jedi, either based off Sp spent, or an actual skill, this would increase the range further and further. mabey to a point that you knew the moment a BH jumped to the same planet or entered the region.

elBogg you win the most logical post of this thread award, sarcasm put aside.

They wrote:

Ok, that's pretty straight forward. Makes perfect sense.

"... NPC or non allied PC within range"

Here's what I thought... (assuming range is 64 or 128m

"Woo hoo, I can hunt in Imperial groups. Yay I can group with a Jedi in my guild as well as Other guild members. YAY!!"

To me, non Allied means: (I am imperial) someone of the neutral, or opposing faction (rebel).

Allied could also mean: someone within your PA. Hey, I'll be cool with only hunting with PA members. Sure beats the solitude hunting at the edges of Endor.

"Visibility is gained when drawing your lightsaber or using force powers ...

What I thought: Drawing an LS means making it do it's glowy thing and attacking. Equiping is simply holding it. Force powers is of course obvious.

Ok, So from the vague patch notes, I gathered this on visibility:

"To gain visibility I have to attack NPC's with force powers or my LS. If I use anything Jedi in range of a Humanoid (NPC) I'm in deep poo. If I do Jedi stuff in front of Neutrals, or REbels, I am also in poo. But I can group with Imperials, and guild members as we are allied. I think It's safe to wear my Jedi robe and carry an LS in town"

BOY WAS IEVER WRONG.

I did escape my BH attacker, but the fact of it is, I was attacked, hehe, while shopping for new shoes, carrying a VK and wearing a dress robe, totally none jedi looking which is what I still wear in public. I probably could have won, but I chose to run since I'm not into PvP. though being Jedi means you have to at one time or another do PVP or simply die.

Look like cool changes. And to me anybody complaining shouldn't be a jedi.
