There is nothing to defend. AFK is within the allowable game rules. Your argument falls apart right there.

Is it a really a game if you're on autopilot all the time? Come now...

Is it still a car if I have it on cruise controll?

Game = you do work you get reward. Car = vehicle you drive to go to where you want to go? I didn't argue that a plane is not a plane if it's on autopilot, I argued that checkers is not a game if you have a robot play your moves. I don't get the comparison. Defend AFK grinding if you like. You're entitled to your own opinion.

I just see it more like graduating from college and skipping to retirement without getting a job to earn it. This game is about working for what you want.

Lame question.

No its not a lame question. If he wants to play AFK its his right. There is no rules against playing AFK in the TOS/User agreement. You have no right to tell anyone AFK play is not ok. Do you make sure an entertainer is ATK before they buff you?

Actually, playing afk is against the EULA.

If you look in the ingame help system (ctl-h) under frequently asked questions they specifially state that you are allowed to play AFK.

Seriously? I've never seen that before.

I dont have to defend AFK grinding, its stated in the rules that AFK grinding is permitted. Its not my opinion it is FACT. I can't belive you are compairing a video game to somone getting an early retirement. Your analogy is describing somthing that is moraly wrong. There is nothing moraly wrong with afk grinding for 2 reasons. Reason 1, because the rules say its ok and reason 2, because its not real life its a game. So your argument falls apart right there. As long as the rules ok AFK play noone has the right to tell another person how to play their Jedi. You think cause you took the long way to grind a character you deserve somthing, well you dont. All you did was waiste a good portion of your life. Playing this game accomplishes nothing. I refuse to spend a large portion of my time sitting in front of the computer doing nothing. So when I do play its going to be somthing fun like PVP. The devs put an ingame macro system for us to use so I dont have to spend countless hours infront of the computer waisting my life like alot of you are doing. Grinding sucks, builds no skill and literally just sucks your life away. You can have it all you want but im sayin no thanks!

I agree 100%that grinding sucks. It's montononus and boring. I think quest based boxes would be a way cooler implementation of the game and give you a little story along the way, you know? Needs some kind of content, hopefully we'll see some kind of jedi content in obi wan.

really so afk macros are like cruise control b/c you have to maintain power to your pc and ensure an internet connection is active? Come on, do you really believe that these are similiar? Steering is an active process, checking your power on your pc and your internet conn is not, unless of course you power your pc by turning the generator at the power planet.

You, just as everyone else, know that afk macros are used so people can gain xp while they are away from their keyboard. It is considered an unfair advantage to use an afk macro, and yes it is against policy to do this. check rule 5 Community Standards. it includes in the language that no players can use actions that give them an unfair advantage as deemed by SOE. We know from past actions that when they find out about afk macro spots they react.

Not going to agree or disagree on the AFK issue . . . already did way back when when entertainers rioted over the "AFK playstyle". Whether our interpretation is that its against the rules really doesn't matter . . . the devs and CSR do not agree. So AFK play (using in game macros) will most likely never die. If you want to be a bot . . . fine . . . just don't cry foul if a CL 200 NPC drops in, gives you visibility and then kills you. It was your decision to not supervise the leveling of your toon.

Oh cause grinding takes so much skill. There is only one way to learn to fight and thats by going special forces. Lets see how hard grinding really is...Ok set spin attack as default, run aura and force armor macro, and watch health. When health is low hit force heal , channel force between picket lairs......repeat for hours........Damn thats hard.

Gee, that's not how I did my grinding, but I'm not post-cu.

Lol now your attacking the new breed. Well since you want to go there, new school Jedi have a 10x harder quest to build the perfect saber. Not only did you guys get Bad ass sabers at the CU but you still currently have lower sac costs. Also premi pearls were easy to farm. Premies dont tune for more but they shorten your lightsaber grind considerably. Thoes who say no they were hard to get. BS! Why are there tons of people who sell 20-30 at a time? I even got a few in 2 days when I was looking for tissues pre CU. Im not hating on you guys about that I believe in the early bird gets the worm and I have been here since launch so my slacking is my downfall. But I have literally killed thousands upon thousands of Corsairs. I have it mastered to where I can get 8 crystals in an hour easy and I wont stop untill I have a perfect saber. Do you have to do that?

The sad thing is that people AFK gind because the experience gaining content in this game is so mind numbingly boring.

Even EQ had cool Dungeons were people had to huddle together to get exp and loot. Some of those dungeons were scary in the begining of EQ.

WOW has quest and story related quests that give really good experience for both finishing the quest and killing the monsters in a story line that made since to be killing the monsters/bad guys etc..I maxed outin wow and not once did I kill anything for Experience it was all story related.

Eve, well eve you just pick what ever skill you want to train and you gain the skill based on time and a few factors. You do not even have to ever use your character in Eve to level to the highest level. In Eve you just pick train "Battleship Control" and you get it in so many days and hours.Eve hasthe coolest way to level because you can spend your time doing whats fun, and get were you want to be, instead of grinding out 473k worth of steel pistol barrels or killing 400k Bols.

I think in SW you should just have one pool of experience and any action that now gives specialized experience would fill your pool of experience were you can then train in any skill set you wish with it. This allows you to play the game like YOU enjoy playing it. If you want to be a WS you can go with your guild and shoot mobs and gain experience you can later use in Weapon Smithing if you so chose. This is much better than setting up a macro and practice mode grinindg 400k barrels .

If you want to get your Jedi temp maxed out but YOU ENJOY making food then you should be able to make food and level up Jedi. It should be about the players enjoyment and not about a GRIND.

This is why People do the AFK grind because the leveling system in SWG means killing a billion BOLS for no freaken reason and that is retarded. You want people to enjoy SWG then first thing to do is let people do what they enjoy doing to reach their desired Profession etc.. it shouldnt be about punishment and earning it. It is a game not real life. It first of all, should be fun to each person behind the key board.

Get rid of retard painfull leveling and people wont look for the easy way out. Provide them with an entertaining leveling system and they *GASP* will enjoy the ride.

1st if you AFK grind you have no reason to be a Jedi IMO. I could go on and rant for hours but i wont. People like you make me sick.

Yet another person who makes decisions based on how they feel and not on the rules in place. 5 year old's make decisions based on how they feel as well.

I have seen amy grind Jedi AFK and get PWNed by BH and NPCs and come back to wonder **edit**. I know that some people are lazy and need the AFK macros to grind. I'm not saying macros are bad just going afk to grind come on.

What is the use of playing with people if they log in to go AFK.

So many stupid people are still alive because it is illegal to kill them.
Anyone who says, "Trust Me" can not be trusted.
It is not what you are killing but what you are allowing to live.
