well... since grinding is pretty much quest based now... then one can assume it is content.
Dont look at it as if I have to grind 10 levels. You never know what the quest will hold for level 80-90. It could be fun... the obi-wan quest was fun, and who is to say that one of the quest might be... going to the enclaves to duel a jedi in front of a audience. All i am saying is that the quest can be, and prolly will be very cool. If they are fun... then its not really grinding.. like getting in a spin group, and clicking spin over and over again.
Besides.. if we all converted full temp.. what would we do? I mean really? what would you do when you have nothing left to do? NOTHING...
it gives us something to do.. while they add more content.......
Art, with all due respect, you cannot spin this positively when they are TAKING AWAY the right of every vet to wield a 4th Gen Saber on DAY ONE.I love all the players spinning this positively.
Let me add to the spin.
How about: "Don't look at the loss of the professions you spent so much time and effort on as a negative, look at it as a way to allow CONSOLE PLAYERS to play"
Or: "Don't look at the Jedi changes as bad, mouse clicking is UBER COOL"
Or: So what if they lied and betrayed the base? Lying and betrayal happens in real life so get used to it.
Don't sell this crap as anything more than the truth: It is SOE's way of making Vets grind more and it penalizes those who are Vets because they can't use equipment in two weeks they spent all of this time and effort to obtain.
On the subject of the 3rd / 4th gen sabers, I think comparing weapons in the current game to weapons in the old system is an apples-to-oranges thing. The weapons system and how it works in combat are so drastically changed in the NGE that you really can't equate our current stuff with the new stuff. Its a whole other ball of wax.

Considering that the only difference between a 3rd gen and a 4th gen saber is the FC/SAC and one extra pearl/crystal, it's not that big of a deal.
Then again, I haven't completely sunk my life into this game either. Its an entertaining distraction, nothing more.
If there's anything with the NGE I'm irritated with, its having yet more loot and quest rewards that I can't use simply because I chose to play a wookiee when creating my character. Fix *THAT* then come talk to me about SOE is taking your 4th gen saber away.
Sorry...on a crazy browser now and can't quote/use HTML easily.

You keep saying 'FC/SAC is all that changes.' You stated something incorrect then...and I corrected youFC/SAC may not matter in the NGE, but your statement was incorrect in saying 'there is no difference.' Don't mis-lead people...there are differences. I have crafted hundreds to know. And it's a shame that it doesn't mean as much as it did before...but such is the transoformation that we are undergoing to an army of Jedi! All the same, no diversity, good game!

And what are the differences? Honestly. I've crafted quite a few sabers and those are the only differences I've seen from a base-stat standpoint.

Class 80 converts to class 80. I believe a lot of people are not really understanding what is going on.
Class 90 brings everybody an additional 10 levels to grind. It is not meant to hinder us.. it is an addition to the game. THe only shortcoming of this is the loss of 4th gen saber until we get to level 86. The good news about this... is not only do we have the new expanison to work on in terms of quest.. but also we have some content to work towards those 10 extral levels. It is game wide, and the newer players are gonna have to do it as well. It will more than likely be some high end questing.. It could very possibly be very well done, and exciting.
So to wrap it up... the 10 levels.. are additional content added to the game on top of the regualr convertion of class 80 to class 80.
Actually no, according to this it's a loyalty reward rofl:
IV. New Veteran Player Loyalty Rewards
We are offering current active characters several loyalty bonus items in recognition of their status in the game community as valued veterans.
• Elder Buff – Increases to combat abilities, this buff can be shared with new players.
• Elder Title – In recognition of your status in the game as a valued veteran player.
• Profession Re-Allocation Option – All characters active prior to the introduction of the new game enhancements will receive a total of 9 re-allocation options or charges attached to their character to allow the player to test out each of the new professions once before choosing the final path.
• Jedi Bonus Items – Power-enhanced Jedi Robe and Lightsaber color crystal and the opportunity to play as transcended blue glowing Jedi character.
• 10 Additional Combat Levels – New combat levels to explore from level 80 – 90.
What that reads to me is:
You convert over to level 80. But you have the ability to level up to 90 if you chose to do it, whereas other non-elders wont have that option.
That's how I would like to think it will be and that's how it can be read... SCCS (SMEDCO Clear Communication Skills) ftw!
I think however it will be for everyone.... dang those whipper snappers!
I think I read somewhere (either a dev or Correspondent) that stated all players (new and old) will have the ability to get to cl 90. I think Tiggs was confused when she originally wrote that up because it's defnietly not a reward for vets, it's just added content that everyone can do.....vets just get to do it first since they convert to cl 80 day one.

Sorry, but having to put away my fourth generation saber after all this time just to regrind is freaking stupid.
Having to grind 10 additional levels...eh...I don't agree with that either, but I could live with that...if it wasn't for that stupid crap with saber certification.
Its funny, but that little tidbit might have finally pushed me over the edge with this...not sure why something apparently so small is the straw, but that is how it feels at the moment.
