Thread: Group grind/Spin Groups

Ohh, yeah, i'm a noob, that's maybe the only explaination i could get
My explanation : i'm a rifleman with a BIG gun and if i dare to make a area attack, i will draw all aggro and no one will ever be able to save me from beeing killed. Just because i do much more damage that everyone else and that no one can take aggro back in this case !
O maybe you couldn't even imagine that could be an issue in a spin group, but if someone is taking all the aggro, he can't make "decent" xp in a spin group (i had 3 healers on me last time, it wasn't enough, and it was only after the first area attack)
And by the way : i sure won't ever be able to get 3M xp in 8 hours.... just because i will never have a 8hour play session.... Only because i got a life, a job, a girlfriend and i want to keep them and prevent myself from auto-lobotomisation
Too much xp is bad for your health !

Solution: Get a SMALLER gun.
Not to be snide, but seriously, Your not in PvP, You do not need to nuke everything. Get a crap weapon is that is what it takes. Guaranteed u will not draw Aggro except for that one second you hit the new pop before the tank(s) do. But as soon as the lair takes some dmg, the MOB will run back to heal it. Or, Like all the ranged in my group does, just run to the lair, wait 3 seconds, Aggro off u, run back out and continue your AOE.
And I promise you, the ranged, including Riflemen(women), can ge 3 mil is less than 8 hours in one of my groups.
But deny it, blast it, love it or leave it. I swear by these groups for the "grind."
I am however convinced that those who nay say the "spinners" Are just picking on this one now because it is fast now that the VAST majority of Jedi have stopped the butchary of AFK Ryatt Trail Grinding. But that is purely my opinion...and subject to being wrong..![]()

Once again you prove your noobness. Any character that has an area attack can benefit from spinner groups. I make it a point to help out a low lvl character when I can and all they ever have to say is they cant believe how much xp they are getting. Your method of grinding is old and slow. I dont need to list reasons why because this topic has been covered in the forums 100 times already. If you dont know you truly are a noob.
With those arguments, i have only one thing to add to this thread : i'm proud to be a slow old noob because that means i'm not like you.
Give me a call when you have finished your template to tell me what you will do next.
@pussycat : i don't call 1.2M rifle xp in half an hour something that is slow.... call me what you want, you can't even imagine i found a solution that could be better, so who's the one that does not want to listen?Message Edited by Eulbobo on 09-22-2005 04:41 AM
OK, genius boy, what forum is this? Go ahead, look it up. Mmmmm? This is a Jedi forum. The OP wants to know about the pros/cons of spin groups as they affect *Jedi*. If you want to talk about rifle XP, go to the rifleman forum. As Jedi, there's simply no faster XP than a good spin group... it's like the difference between taking a plane and riding a bicycle when you need to travel cross-country.
Help me out here, I guess I'm slow. Why is it lame that ppl find a way to effectively deal with the lamest aspect of the game: killing millions of critters just to be able to do anything else?

Hi just wanna know are group grind/spin group worth the risk?
Sure, they're lame, but Jedi can pass on it. I don't realy mind them, just realy hate seeing all the non-Jedi doing it.

Ok, sure !
That's it !
In order to be effective in a spin group, i have to make less damage !
That was so obvious, how couldn't i tought !
BTW, i still think classical groups are better in any point of view.
And i won't change my ideas, whatever numbers of "how much xp you made here, in that situation with this and this guy".
When i hunt, it's not for XP. I left a game that was only xp oriented and found in SWG a way to hunt and to have fun !
If your key is to make the fastest xp possible, go ahead. I do prefere to take my time... since how much xp you have tend NOT to give you more power or abilities.
I suppose either YOU or I lost the meaning of this thread? One of us is off base....I assumed this thread was to talk of the "value" of a spin group? If that is the case, then your absolutely off base in your litany above.....The PURPOSE of a "Group grind/Spin Group" as the TITLE heads up, is the FASTER method of grinding XP for combat professions.
I did not see it as a dicussion on how a portion of the player base that wants grind over, for additional exploration and so forth vs. people like yourself who are content with a slow grind to explore the nuiances of a given profession.
So, I ask you, who is in error in the original purpose of this thread? Me or you? If me, then I profusely apologize and remove myself from this thread since my message of the value of a spin group equaling a faster grind for all combat professions is obviously not warranted or appropriate in this thread Titled "Group grind/Spin Groups"

Sure, they're lame, but Jedi can pass on it. I don't realy mind them, just realy hate seeing all the non-Jedi doing it.
Because grinding is the aspect that you worked hard to get your Jedi templated, doing 1 attack over and over and having other people pretty much do your work while you sit there and spam one attack I don't realy call "playing" it's no better then having you just follow run a macro to do a spin and that's it.
I'll state it again CU Jedi have it easier then before the FRS, and Pre-CU. Yet they still complain? Only two things I know they can complain about CU pearls and the FRS not up yet, that's it. You guys get killed by BHs? Go into a spin group, even a non-spin group, and you guys will get out of the negative exp in no time.

You dont need to be a master defender to tank a lair of pickets. You just need 0040 DEF, 0400 ENH and 4000 healer and you can tank till your force runs out.
Bull$hit: maybe you can heal yourself for a while, but if you spam heal all the time, you don't hit, and don't keep the agro.
Alot harsher and 1 sided than I would be. I would only tweak your rebuttal to the side of Efficiency. With the Force Drain, I guarantee since I am MDef, my group will mow through the 16 missons far quicker than the template above due to the simple time to regen/channel/transfer froce. I will nto say it cannot withstand the beating, just that when done, I am in far better shape than the template given..
But I do believe it can be done.
The topic is spin groups, is it worth the risk: The answer for ther poster, BEING IN AJEDI FORUM is unequivically, YES. How lucky you are in getting a effective tank, and how efficiently they can move form one lair to another, dictates how LARGE a reward for the risk. That is as good an answer I can come up with I think..![]()

Im calling BS, we have an easier time grinding but building the perfect saber is no easy task for a post CU jedi. Way easier to do pre CU.

We often have a similar problem with Powers Jedi hitting very hard with area effect lightning.
Yeah, I can attest to that.
I often avoid doing Area Lightning when in a spin group simply because the AI seems to determine aggro on a per-hit basis, so when you hit 8 pikets for 900+ dmg in one hit, suddenly they think you're the big hitter. Poor pikets don't realise that it takes us MPowers folk another 30 minutes to cooldown before the next AE Lightning.
