the Lightning energy on earth makes up roughly .00001% of the overall plasma in our universe.

now if by "universe" you meant Solar System, then yes i would agree that the lightning on earth makes up maybe close to 1% of plasma energy.

with that said, i think that sabers should be

AP: 3

Damage: Energy

that would be the most correct type of damage currently "in game" but with some mobs having 100% resists toenergy (Stone Skin Hanadak) the sabers damage would be negated.

/shrug

either way the damage type needs to be changed.

I said less than 1% but anywayI think it should be ap3 and energy too. Lightsabers should deffinatly be able to cut through nearly anything.

Then again when has a DEV really cared what a player though?

Personally, and I’ve said this before, I think the Lightsaber should be, if anything currently, heat. It burns/melts things, such as the blast door Qui-Gonn shoves his into during Ep. 1, and, as depicted in the Thrawn Trilogy, it cauterizes wounds. Plasma would also work, however making it plasma goes against what the lightsaber is in the Star Wars universe. And yes, the blades have been explained several times. It’s not a blade made up of gasses, it is light that when the waves reach a crtain point, they bend back in upon themselves, hence making the shape of the blade. Different crystals/multiple crystals can allow the amplitude (I believe that’s the word I’m looking for) to be changed, hence changing the length of the blade.

I’m not going go into the AP rating, haven’t really sat and thought about it. I do think it should be heavy, but, as I said, I haven’t sat and come up with any convincing arguments to change it or not change it.

However, there are certain things that a lightsaber cannot ‘slice’ through: another Lightsaber blade, the alchemically treated blade of a Sith, Cortosis (sp?), and things that seem to resist a lot of heat, i.e. the lava ‘dragon’ Luke fought in the Jedi Academy trilogy. There are others that have been mentioned, I believe, but I can’t remember them off the top of my head.

Well thought-out, and well written. I very much agree. Heat would be my first choice with energy a close second. However, I cannot and will not accept that the damage done by a lightsaber is the same damage done by the dagger an artisan can make (kinetic). It just doesn't fit. Period.

Lightsaber damage ignores armor type, but it still should have a seperate damage type in my opinion

/geekmode on: The FWG5 is actually a flechette launcher, it fires a bunch of small arrow-like objects at high-speeds. The flechette launchers are weapons that are a tube that shoots canisters and small missiles that are designed to exploded close to their target, and releasing hundreds of razor-sharp flechettes at high velocity. The Malaxan Firepower FWG-5 flechette pistol is a typical hand held flechette launcher with a optimum range of 50 meters and a maximum range of 100 meters, and has the stopping power of a heavy blaster pistol.

DX2 and DXR6 are disruptor weapons. Highly illegal and MUCH more powerful than they are shown as in SWG. The disruptor is among the most contraversial and reviled hand held weapons in the galaxy, because the disruptor is an energy weapon which has enough power in its blasts to break down objects at the molecular level, and leaving only a smoking pile of ash. The hand held pistols can disintegrate a durasteel plate that is one-meter by one-meter and up to a half a meter thick, or they can penetrate force fields, personal battle armor, and vehicle and starship hull plating.

So technically, the FWG5 should be a kinetic weapon, and the DX weapons should be commando...

BTW, I got this info from: http://www.galacticholonet.com/weapons_index.html

Sorry for the hijack, i just thought this would be interesting to know...

I think lightsabers should slice through armor like butter, and kill every creature within a 120m radius of its awesome glow. oh also if you are killed by a lightsaber weilding jedi you should suffer perma -death and your account should be deactivated.

Plasmo? I wasn't aware that Lightsaber blades were made out of the same thing that stars are. Perhaps leave it as it is because SOE is too lazy to recode all the armor into have *another* type of resistance?

Why would they code a new resistence type into the armor. They should just add another Vulnerability that can never be experimented with. Lightsabers would be the only weapon that do X damage type, and all armor would be vulnerable to X damage.

Ok, I know that LS's do kinetic damage... But I don't know if this next part has been discussed yet.

Devs, make Lightsaber damage it's OWN TYPE.

I mean, sometimes you have to smack someone with the continuity bat and now is that time.

C'mon devs... according to the E.U. there is ONE substance that is 'lightsaber resistant', and we don't even find that out for a long time. (Thrawn's fortress was made out of the stuff)

If this IS a repeat, I apologize. And if it is, hopefully the devs will take notice even more.

This game is not based on the E.U. Stop bringing that into conversations.

Leave LS Damage as is, otherwise they will have to rewrite EVERY creatures resist code and idd in a new damage type. I would rather they fix the bugs.

I do enough Damage as it is.

I COMPLETELY disagree... IMHO they IGNORE too much of the EU. Sorry, I'm a big fan of it. I WILL NOT stop bringing it into conversations. I understand there are certain limitations to what is possible in the game as it pertains to the EU, but you still have to follow some basic rules laid down by Lucas & co.

I know it may be a chore, but it can't be THAT hard to add another damage type. (used to be a programmer so no flames about how complicated it is... I know how tough it can be)

Better yet, why not make LS damage be ALL types of damage? Wouldn't that be just a quick numbers tweak?
