Due to the CU the game needs to head in the direction of the traditional group has a tank, healer, damage dealers, buffers, etc.

Unfortanetly you almost never need a group in this game because right now you can kill almost anything with just a couple guys.

I mean cmon people are soloing Necrosis for god sakes.

IMO Jedi should be only slightly more powerful than other classes at first but be given options to advance their skills (FRS possibly)

You try soloing Necro since Pub. 24 went live? Good luck....

The OP is probably going to get flamed...we've been down this road quite a bit...but I always thought it was completely moronic to divide the two...the nature of martial arts and fencing does not allow one to learn to be a master of attack without any defense, or vice versa.

For me, our profession would be much more interesting if they combined the trees and left us with only four. I think we would find a great deal more variety.

The Jedi trees were never very imaginative.

Healer...based on a cleric

Enhancer...sort of a druid

Powers...good ole magic user

LS and Defense? Staying combined made too much sense...divided purely for the sake of division...

If I could make one change to our profession...and one change only...I would do, for the most part, what the OP suggests and I know it would reduce the FOTMs quite a bit. I will even go so far as to say that I would prefer to see this over a new FRS...but, I probably did too much crack as a kid...just kidding..

Defender

  • Jedi is the only class to have to buy defenses separately.

This is a poor design decision in many respects. How could we go about repairing this?

NOTE: I would cap innate armor at the current level in defender and spread it out into the other the other trees so that a dual Mastery has the same as a current defender.

  • Delete the whole defender tree. Allow anyone with points in defender to move them elsewhere.
  • Move the physical mods (Block,Ranged/Melee Defense) to Lightsaber.
  • Move the Force Aura andAvoid Incap to Enhancer, lower Force Cost (for AI).
  • Move theForce Defense mods to Powers.
  • Move State Defenses to Healer.

i like the idea, but because its a good idea it likely wont happen, but it does make sense, i mean it makes sense that lightsaber should have most of the defenses, as the lightsaber is for offense and defense, honestly valor should be a master ls skill, it makes sense that with the mastery of a lightsaber, that you would be able to tap into the force to improve your saber block skill

it makes sense that enhancer would get aura and enhancer as they are enhancing skills, and that powers should get the abilitiy to defend against the skills they have, and also to get skills like dominate mind, only alter it so it doesnt just have a chance to get the aggro, but possibly break aggro all together saving whoever the mob is attacking, but that should be a master lvl skill

also healer should get state defenses spread threw the trees like melee and ranged defense is spread through defender, and state defenses should resist roots and snares

oh theres so much that could be done with this idea, it would mean master ls, master enhancer and something like healer 4/0/0/4 would be very very potent

The OP makes an extremely valid point. A true master of combat has a measure of both offensive and defensive capabilities. I think the original point of separating defender into it's own tree is so that it would be diverse enough for there to be force users in the game that are not as skilled with a lightsaber, but can still defend themselves. While I think it's an interestingvision, I don't remember seeing any jedi in the movies or books that could notdefend themselves witha lightsaber effectively and still use their force powers.

It would be interestingdefender were combined into the LS tree. It would actually make us a bit more like the way we would assume jedi are trained.

Exactly. Well writen.

There should be some Defenses in the other LS Trees IMO, but not equal. I would compare this to a MCM: They have Ranged and Melee Defense, but not as much a Master Swordsman.

The current setup of the skill trees are good in that it allows for more realistic breakdown of someone's skill. What I'm trying to say is, if your one of the top ranked fencers in the world, who has based his career on being over offensive, and the goes up against a good swordsmen but has great parrying and defensive abilities, then perhapsthe defender would win. Basically, its not always true a master swordsmen would also be a master of defense.

Sorry if this post is confusing I'm writing this after a long midterm and before my next class

I agree, that's why I suggest tieing it into the current Melle Professions. Currently, they are somewhat balance in that Fencer has more MS & MA, but not as much MD & RD...

Now you're just ridiculing an idea worth debating. Jedi are the only professions where offense and defense are separate entire skill trees. All other professions contain both offensive and defensive mods. The result for Jedi is that professions like Jedi Master Healer are extinct, because no combat template can survive without both offense and defense, and this leaves Healer orphaned.

Did you know
SOE has changed this game 3 times
Jedi went from being an Icon to a normal profession
The combat system is being reduced to Enemy Territory online
