Thread: What side effect does FR1 have?
RogueLeader7 wrote:
Exactly. Stop being pedantic. As someone else mentioned, with FR1 on, you will regen 0 force over an hour if your base regen is 5, thus effectively making your regen equal to 0. Stop being an argumentative fool.
You stop being a fool.
Cost and regen are completely separate. If we do not keep the terminology correct on each attribute all that will happen is confusion when we attempt to do testing and bring issues forward.
It does not effectively change your regen. Your regen is the same no matter what. What it does do is affect the amount of points available in the force pool which is very different.
Proper use of terminology is very important.

What does FR1 do? I heard it affects force regen.
take off 5 from your force regenso say your regen is 55 with FR1 on its 50
Thats is what i said was rubbish. Sorry if it upset you but i hate it when people are misled. He stated quite clearly it takes off regen which it doesnt, semantics into actual force pool regenration rates and how much youll have after an hour aside it does not ever remove from your regen.
Its friday im tired and would rather be at home, i apologise for being so crude.

No what you said was rubbish. It is still rubbish and will always be rubbish.
errr ok
55 regen every 10 secs - 5 regen every 10 secs for force run = 50 regen every 10 secs while force run is in effect
simple math
QFE. This guy is right. Take a look at your force pool while you have it on, costs you about 5 force every 10 secs or so.
So to the guy above who said he's talking rubbish, think before you speak.
Costing force is not affecting regen.
Are you just trying to be difficult? He isn't saying it does affect regen he is saying the net effect is the same. Mathmatically he would be correct I'm not sure what the issue is.
Doc,
One critical thing is terminology.
We cannot correctly bring issues forward if we are not on the same page. Regen is the amount of regeneration every 10 seconds. Cost is the reduction in the current force pool. In the case of FR1 the COST is only accrued if moving with it turned on. By making the correlation that it affects regen implies just that, your regeneration is affected even while not moving.
Now if we have force regen issues or force cost issues how can we correctly reflect problems to the devs unless we use the same terminology. They true fact is Force Run does not affect force regen. It has a Force Cost. Or are you prepared to say Stasis, saber moves, etc all effect force regen.
The difference is that FR1 is a toggle and while it is on everytime you move you have the cost. It is an ongoing cost. If the original poster had said it DID affect regen I would agree it was incorrect. He didn't. He said it had the same effect which is basically true. IN any event someone could have said "This isn't entirely accurate lets be clear how it works." Just a flame "this is rubbish" doesn't get it if you are going for civilized discussion.
However his demeanor, he was correct in that we need to use and describe the same terminology as the devs.
If people start thinking force regen is also force cost it will lead to confusion.
Lets say for example the force cost for FR1 goes up by a bug. Someome does a /bug stating "fr1 is taking too much from my force regen". Now the devs research the bug and find FR1 does not affect the regen stat and basiclyy ignore the report.
The fact is that they are two differnet things and should be treated as such and correctly so we can even know what eachof us are talking about.
In any case, it will cost you 5 force every 10 seconds. No other hidden costs exist. It's very worthwhile skill.

Ok well i think everyone agrees on the overall effect of it. Terminology/ways of describing it have just been different, but its really not worth arguing about.

Indeed.
Why not just say it costs 5FC to maintain it? That way, everyone is clear...
Why compound a simple question?
RosaShyanne wrote:I thought FR1 still had damage reduction, just not as sever as FR2+ ?????
FR1 has no damage reduction, but only has a 33% terrain negotiation.
It uses a bit of force to activate and keep on, but I regenerate it before it can be used. I can fight with it and not feel the pinch of it. And you can run away

/hi5
SRY lol
i know i can just run up hills almost as good as a scout with exploration 4 with FR1
Explore 4 gives you a total of 40, so you're pretty close.
Anyone know if FR1 used in conjunction with BE clothing or CAs with terrain negotiation mods makes a noticable difference?
