Unique... but not very reasonable if you go by production time.

More professions then any other game is UNIQUE, just like the Combat que system was. these are things that made star wars galaxies stand out above all other games. that and its sci-fi...not alot of those around to begin with. Even still.. in other games you can still mix and match skills. Asheron's call, you had a starting skill..sword..bow..whatever you wanted.. you gained skill points, you could be a crafter still, or become a archer! omg you're now a ranger because yo use both a sword and a bow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! where as a straight archer is going to have better skills.. you'll at least have your fun. Worlds of Warcraft, you can train up in different weapons as long as you find the trainer..wow not locked into classes. Guild wars.. you get 2 classes a main and a subclass... lots of diveristy there.. because you still get to pick and choose your damn skills. screw simple, simple isn't fun, i do not have a ADD attention span of 2seconds that i need a game so damn simple that a 4 year old can play.
Each profession wanted their own content, and that was something SWG couldnt offer.
When I started Bounty Hunter I wanted to play ninjastyle, with unarmed and a sword, but it wasnt possible. And the bountyhunter missions wasnt too trilling once I started as pistoleer. At least I wanted holsters to be a gunwoman, but it didnt happen... And then I got to be a TKM, but the Teras Kasi was little more than a hollow profession with no content of their own. So I became a Jedi, and what did we have? Holocrons and Pearls and that was it... no more. No content.
I do believe Jedi will be more FUN to play now, becouse there will probably be more to DO.
Well thats no ones fault except the dev teams, they failed to make class specfic content. period. who cares if the end result of mixing and match, isn't a 100% powerful template, if you claim to only want fun , then you wouldn't care. i thought BH missions were awesome, maybe it was just me. i thought the whole investigation thing and the moving marks was sick, hell i wish jedi had investigation. gunwoman..sure you could be that..you might have to go to a RP server and have a group of people, that would let you potray that type of character... and you're right it wouldn't of been complete without the PROMISED blaster holsters and dual wielding, that was never put into the game. once again the devs fault. TKM was what it was.. a profession ripped from the extended universe of starwars, and i'm pretty sure they didn't research it.. they probably saw the teras kasi game for psx and was like... HEY! THAT WOULD MAKE A COOL PROFESSION. jedi we had holocrons, pearls, lightsabers the force. no true content, even though we have ancient force places in the game.. their fault again that they did not do anythign with them.
We "may" end up with more quest now, or maybe not. hell there was tons of quest to do from the NPCS before, they just never offered any reward or loot that wasn't a broken data recorder. wow... so much use you can get from wasting 5minutes to get something htat doesn't work.
Agreed, Ameno. Agreed

9 professions instead of 33...

The problem with this view is that even before the first Jedi unlocked, SOE couldnt focus on the professions or bugs that were out there when the game went live. Look at the Smuggler profession. They were told about upgrading their profession back in December of the first year of the game. They couldnt take care of the majority of the game then. What makes you think they can honestly do it now?
Even if their voice arent heard much, subprofessions like Bio-Engineers, Architects and Droid Engineers still needed alot of attention... more attention than just the five jedi professions and the bh's.
Most games do not have more than 5-10 professions and I believe 33 was a bit too much from the beginning.
So I believe that the new 'simple' style can give them more room to focus on what's fun than just balancing old professions.
You totally missed my point. They didnt take of the professions BEFORE a Jedi even unlocked.
I applaud them for being unique in offering different combinations so that each player could find their niche in the game. I was able to RP as a Musician/Smuggler back in the days of flexibility. Most of my slicing customers could find me in my cantina and I would conduct my illict business there out of the eyes of the Empire. Having more profession mixing allowed for MORE ROLEPLAY because you could tailor your toon's skills to your style of RP. Now....... Everyone is Han Solo, or Lando, or Leia![]()

I hate to sound mean but you really have an excuse for everything don't you?
Oracles dont make excuses they make predictions.
So I'm guessing you are fianlly satisfied since the profession is a cookie cutter version of Jedi we have now?I mean now you can PvE with no meanie BH ruining your day becasue we all no you were the only one they came after.

When I gave up on the "hometeam" so did the rest of my guild. The rebels on Corbantis are now extremely few.

you have no idea what your talking about, BP would be welcomed by so many people in pvp. Your problem you dont know who to talk to but im guessing you didnt try to hard. The fight continues, the empire will not enslave the galaxy forever, we just need some brave fighter to continue the war, shame you dont know any.
*nudge*
*cough*
I was in all of the recent PVP videos from Corbantis, Tibah was also in the Had Abbadon one. Thats 2 BP members right there! ![]()
The problem MsNil had is that because of her views in here many Rebels ousted her ingame, despite how good she is.
There are always some players that take offence at people from here into the game, I guarantee my current standing on the forums is not making me popular at the moment, but hey I'm doing my bit for the Alliance in backing any Imperials that want to quit SWG because of this latest game change.

yea i agree, maybe they should have worked on fixing/upgrading the current game instead of coming out with new combat systems and expansions.
Do you know just how many of us uttered these very same words when the CU was announced?

No, its not JUST a PvP game, but PvP is a HUGE part of the current game.
I think your wrong about more people playing the PvE game then the PvP game.
You do have to realize that alot of PvE activity is directly related to leveling for PvP and aquiring gear for PvP.

Quite possibly, but ive been following nil for some time now and she is in total advocacy of all of the new changes pretty much. ALL.
Now that she and hers have gotten their way, she is happy now.
I sincerly hope things like Lightning can be unlocked through loot or quests. I cannot imagine a starwars game where Dark Jedi cant call lightning.
Without more than 9 professions to focus on, all their effort can go to expanding their game and balance just a few professions, instead of balancing just a few while the majority of the game is suffering.

well Duh, why couldn't they? i mean we just went from 33? professions to 9...lol. thats what they were doing.. "how about 15? we can handle that right? no...ok....12? no? how about 9!??! yes! we can do 9! i hope...we'll find out! lets make something called the "new game enchancement..."..." and that short story ladies and gentlmen, was how the NGE was born! mwahhaahahhaahah
More like, "Awh man, we just lost a bunch of customers. We're losing money rapidly! How many devs do we have? 33? One for each profession? Oh, ok. How many can we afford. 9?!?! Ok! 9 Professions it is!"

The problem of PvP vs PvE started pre-cu. I know this for a fact.
Pre-cu, one jedi was equal to more than 3 normal fighters. If you can gain this power, to be able to fight 3 people at once, and be on equal ground with other jedis, why not attain this power? This of course, leads the PvPer out into the world of PvE. Now then, it takes a long time to get jedi. Give it 10 months or so. Whoops! The CU hit. It's harder to gain xp. No worries, because I'm a jedi now. Now I can go fight and be awesome, but wait! I'm just a padan00b. Ok, so 33m jedi xp later, I'm full template! I can pvp! No. Now you're weaker than the other classes.
That's actually my story. :/
I think people are still trying to become jedi, because they see them as "special" and "strong". They can have more potential than a normal class, so why not achieve it? You cant be good at PvP if you dont realize your full potential.
