After reading this thread, it appears many people have overlooked numerous caps.

This would truly be an unfortunate change and yet another divergence among countless others from the movies.
Obi-Wan used a pistol to kill Grevious in EP3. Palpatine didn't use a saber after EP3.
Now we all in SWG will be forced to. It isn't right. It's another nerf.
You could still use a gun, of course, but you'd have to take the time to equip it and unequip it - that extra time will kill you. That makes it impractical and that hurts Powers users a bunch. Powers will have to be really beefed up to compensate - but they won't do that.
If they truly make it so that you can't use Force Lightning or other force powers without a saber equipped, that's really nuts and not true to the movies or common sense. Just imagine being cloaked under this new system - you'd have to de-cloak, equip your saber and then strike, losing the element of surprise and precious seconds of attacking.
It just doesn't make sense to do this, but that has never stopped the devs before and it won't stop them now.
Palpatine did not use an LS after Ep3 because there was no one left to challenge his Force Powers. Had someone developed who could challenge his Force Powers to a stand still then he would have needed his saber to fall back on.

this is insane heh. well all i have to say is......well the Devs su ck and they like to play with our hard earned time and just make us meaning us people that cram and not sleep to loot or figure out a temp something to make us uber in some way.
basically this is how swg runs 2 things happen
1. a small group pushes the limits and barriers of normal game play, like for example this template or someone making a macro and stacks doctor buffs of 40.00 and 25.00 force buffs for speed and mushroom pie and they drop ppl like flies. Then the little kids or little whiney adults complain "Thats not fair everyone should be equal and not uber but i should be able to be juuuuust as uber as him to the forums.
2. The devs look at the baby and of course as they are runing a (exploitive deleted) daycare filled with crying (exploitive deleted) they get the baby milk powder can out pour some water in a baba and add water mix it and put it in the micro wave, few months later the publish aka the baba is nicely heated then they put a drop on their hand to see if its the right tempature and start feeding the baby with what they want.
I am currently a Master Def and MAster Swords, i have great fun with this temp and i role play with it as the only weaponI use is my adked Sith sword. As it stands I actually don't use many Jedi moves (mainly stick with COB) so as it stands my current temp should be ok. However I was going to go master powers and drop master swords but still keep the sword equipped for RP reasons and I also like the way it looks, even though it will be pretty useless to fight with. However if/when this does happen it means i have to lose the sith sword as powers wouldn't work but also have to equip a saber which is the last thingI want to do mainly for RP but also because I wanted an alternative to sabers, so I go powers and now I'm going to have equip saber the thing I didn't want.
Personally I think this move by SOE is a bit of a stinker, I enjoy how I play (mostly PVE) so now it appears I'm going have to change the way I play again. Kinda gets a bit frustrating after a while.
