Yah, it's called a salary.
The only reason anyone would be opposed to this is because of the 'I want to be better than you' mentality.

lol u didnt get it, go play with your barbies![]()
Nothing wrong with barbies( wish they came with all the 'special parts' though)
What's not to get, your trying to compare a real life scenario with a game scenario.

So we are punished for playing? No thanks.
i don't see it as punishment. I have to go to a cantina and interact with people? OH NOOOOOOOOO!!!!
In all seriousness, the idea of being able to grind forever with no penalty isn't good for a game. Having to come in, sit back, talk to people, etc. isn't a "punishment". It's a healthy part of the game. People are so obsessed with getting to the FOTM template or grinding out Jedi fast that they miss a lot of the game.
The best part of the game for me was back in the day when everybody used to hang out at cantinas to get themselves healed up. You'd find out somebody was going to Endor to try and hunt and you'd be intruiged and ask if you could tag along.
Look, I know Jedi takes a long time to get to, and some people can't bear to think about having to stop their grind to come in and actually have to stop grinding for a while. But having to stop is not a "punishment". It's a way to ensure that people who have busy lives can enjoy the game. All the anologies to jobs fail to take into consideration that this is a game. The reward for it isn't "being uber". The reward isn't the template. It's the FUN you have playing the game.

And I don't think it would be very fun to have to stop every so often because I was gaining no xp. I think most of my complaint is that I've been playing for so long and have experienced most of the game so I don't feel like being inconvenienced with slow xp gains when grinding back up Carbineer for the 4th time.
um...my suggestion didn't say anything about XP gains, really...take a look at what I wrote.
I think bringing back BF would be best. Actually, not battle fatigue so much, but a more generalized "fatigue". You'd start off with 0 fatigue, which would be equivilant to 100% XP gain rate. As you perform any action (including dancing, crafting, etc) you'd gain fatigue. As your fatigue goes up, your XP goes down. Past a certain point, your actions would begin to be less and less effective. Combat toons would notice their defenses dropping, crafters would start getting critical fails more often, dancers and musicians would start playing off-key or falling down (thus preventing them from healing anybody or providing and experience buff).

i'm against slower XP gains, but I all for people being less effective at what they do when they've been doing it for too long.

I dont like this idea at all
I think that ppl shouldnt get less xp if they play more than others, but thats just my opinion
Rested xperience won't work really well in the type of game SWG has. WoW designed the game where any and everybody can max out in a certain timeframe. Rested xp allows those that cannot devote the game time to be able to reach max level within a certain amount of time.

here's where I feel the need to clear up the English language a bit, because somebody could read that and be slightly confused.
If you play more than other people, you'll get more net XP no matter what, even if you're rested. Same deal with my idea-- even taking into account the time to heal up fatigue, a person who plays 4 hours a day will get much more XP than a person who plays one hour a day. The idea is simply to try bring the two *slightly* closer together and to promote a healthier gameplay of interaction and interdependance that is neccesary for any game to thrive.
So right now a person who plays 4 hours a day will get 4 times the XP of a person who plays for one hour, assuming they grind at the same rate and are grinding the entire time. Rested XP would push that down. A balanced rest system would have that differance cut down to around 3.5x the one-hour person. You really can't push the needle too far the other way.
Personally I'd prefer a system that made your skills degrade over time, because it seems more realistic and "cool"
