Thread: Innate Armor

Innate armor is working. Change the combat spam to verbose mode in the options and you can see that it is absorbing about 48% damage.

Not sure about taking armor off and then innate armor not working.

Innate armor gives you about 48% resists to EVERYTHING. Kinetic and energy. I have worn several other sets of armor and innate seems to be the best. Assault armor has higher kinetic resists and recon has higher energy resists but not by much. Those armor types also pay for their higher resists by type with a penalty in the other damage type. Battle armor is not as good as innate armor.

Another thing to consider is the price of armor. I don't pay anything for my armor, it does not decay and its percentages are the exact same. Before i used to buy armor and its quality would have a huge impact on how well i could perform. I had to adjust my style of play based upon what armor i was wearing at the time. Good armor =means i could attack high end mobs and average armor = lower mobs. now i know exactly how well my armor is going to perform in any situation.

Innate armor works with any weapon and any profession. Center of Being only works with a melee weapon.

Considering the overall effectiveness in combat of innate armor vs crafted armor, its price, its stable performance and its lack of decay i would say that innate armor is a huge benefit and is better than crafted armor.

I was doing some testing last night on live... I can confirm that gloves and boots DO break the innate armor TK's get. Rumor is that armor belts do not break our innate, but I havent tested that personally yet.

Kind ofsux too, because I have several AA's for unarmed I was going to drop into gloves *sigh*

Innate Armor doesn't decay and saves you money!

Wow, after reading so many posts, I think I will drop Master Pike/Master Sword and go Master Pike/Master Master TK!

Defence clothing on the Scylla server is showing up with great numbers.

I haven't tested this template yet. But can we still wear PSG's as a TK and can ARmor Break from sword be used with VK's? If so...MTK is sweeeeeet.

Innate armor at Master level is 60% protection not counting COB. Last I read was...even if a AS can reach 10000 in kinetic protection on armor that only equals 68% protection. I could be wrong...don't qoute me.

With Master TK added to my current template, mix in good defence food, defence clothing, and attachments, I can reach 400+ melee defence/300+ ranged defence and close to +400 unarmed damage.

Ranged root attacks my keep us in check, but as PvE ELITE tanks...this looks to the new title holder.

If I am wrong on anything..school me. Knowledge is power!

From the AS forum (unsure its correct):

1000 = 10.5%

2000 = 20.0%

3000 = 28.5%

4000 = 36.0%

5000 = 42.5%

6000 = 48.0%

7000 = 52.5%

8000 = 56.0%

9000 = 58.5%

10000 = 60%

Yes TKM's can wear PSG's without it affecting innate armour. And yes Armourbreak (and any other melee specials) can be used witha TKA weapon (including bare hands)

From what I've seen here, and on the ASmith board (pity the poor ASmiths, btw. Ouch), Innate Armor is better than the majority of crafted armor statwise. The main downside is that you can't put AA's in to. It does seem to be possible to craft exceptional armor that is superior to TK innate armor. However, that armor still decays, and will cost money, where as Innate is free and forever.

So I think Innate Armor is best 95% of the time. When you *really* need the boost, it might still be worth it to put on the elite armors with the AA's, and use it up. It seems to be shaping up along the Scythe/Power Hammer lines - there were a few people that used Scythes all the time - they were typically very rich, and very high-end. The rest of us used our well made PH for 95% of the time, only switching to the Scythe when we really really needed the damage, since it was a limited resource.

Yeah I see your point. Have to figure this out. So if I have a VK that does 300 md and my MTK gives me +360, my base max damage should be 660 without clothes or any other add-ons correct?

A TK should do good dps since we move fast. Just wondering if switching to a VK instead of a 1100+ PH is wise?

I think a good defence is a great offence and once WS figure out how to make uber blast fists and other tk weapons, this could all change.

Has anyone tested Parry Rispote from Master Brawler with MTK for defence/return damage? Just thinking when tanking. Parry Rispote/COB/Innate armor...could be damn cool!

Since their seems to be no caps now, has anyone really seen a major difference in melee d/ranged d over 300?

I better do a little bit of testing then, because level 81 stormtroopers were hitting me for 180 pts of damage. And I am a master TKA. I was wearing a ubese armor shirt, a mabari armor belt and a bandolier. Will try going naked and then adding one piece at a time.

Nope, no AA's on Innate Armor...and glad I am I didn't stock up on the things...though CA's work if you've got sockets on your clothes. I'm already wishing I'd bought multiples of the green undershirt I found last night that had +4 melee def/+17 ranged def and had four sockets besides. I haven't stocked up on CA's either, but some mask scent ones (I've got some scout), healing ones, and other defense ones I'll have to look out for.

I'm going to take a chance and respec back to Master Pike/Master TK.

I just purchased pants, shirt, bandolier, and jacket that all have +18 melee/+18 ranged defence. So, not counting my normal defences, this combo will add +72 melee/+72 ranged defence. I am a Twi'lek, I could also get a Lekku wrap and add CA's to all the clothes! This seems crazy and cool at the same time. But honestly, if their is no defence cap, what will these high numbers really provide? If I really wanted I could reach 400+ melee defence!

The same vendor also provides +16 unarmed damage clothes, which could be sweet too!

I haven't tested anything Melee defense, but I know that speed now has diminishing returns, so it's entirely possible that extremely high MD isn't much better than just high.

Someone should test that.

According to the Dev's all bonuses are capped at +25 so anything past that is just a waste.
