Thread: Innate Armor
Innate armor is working. Change the combat spam to verbose mode in the options and you can see that it is absorbing about 48% damage.
Not sure about taking armor off and then innate armor not working.
Innate armor gives you about 48% resists to EVERYTHING. Kinetic and energy. I have worn several other sets of armor and innate seems to be the best. Assault armor has higher kinetic resists and recon has higher energy resists but not by much. Those armor types also pay for their higher resists by type with a penalty in the other damage type. Battle armor is not as good as innate armor.
Another thing to consider is the price of armor. I don't pay anything for my armor, it does not decay and its percentages are the exact same. Before i used to buy armor and its quality would have a huge impact on how well i could perform. I had to adjust my style of play based upon what armor i was wearing at the time. Good armor =means i could attack high end mobs and average armor = lower mobs. now i know exactly how well my armor is going to perform in any situation.
Innate armor works with any weapon and any profession. Center of Being only works with a melee weapon.
Considering the overall effectiveness in combat of innate armor vs crafted armor, its price, its stable performance and its lack of decay i would say that innate armor is a huge benefit and is better than crafted armor.

I haven't tried the boots, but I know you can still wear the padded armor belt and still get the no-armor benifit. At least the CU didn't take my belt away from me... '-p
I was doing some testing last night on live... I can confirm that gloves and boots DO break the innate armor TK's get. Rumor is that armor belts do not break our innate, but I havent tested that personally yet.
Kind ofsux too, because I have several AA's for unarmed I was going to drop into gloves *sigh* ![]()
So I think Innate Armor is best 95% of the time. When you *really* need the boost, it might still be worth it to put on the elite armors with the AA's, and use it up. It seems to be shaping up along the Scythe/Power Hammer lines - there were a few people that used Scythes all the time - they were typically very rich, and very high-end. The rest of us used our well made PH for 95% of the time, only switching to the Scythe when we really really needed the damage, since it was a limited resource.
I just purchased pants, shirt, bandolier, and jacket that all have +18 melee/+18 ranged defence. So, not counting my normal defences, this combo will add +72 melee/+72 ranged defence. I am a Twi'lek, I could also get a Lekku wrap and add CA's to all the clothes! This seems crazy and cool at the same time. But honestly, if their is no defence cap, what will these high numbers really provide? If I really wanted I could reach 400+ melee defence!
The same vendor also provides +16 unarmed damage clothes, which could be sweet too!
I haven't tested anything Melee defense, but I know that speed now has diminishing returns, so it's entirely possible that extremely high MD isn't much better than just high.
Someone should test that. ![]()

According to the Dev's all bonuses are capped at +25 so anything past that is just a waste.
