Hi there,
everyone has their opinion on the game, here's my 2 cents...

I've been playing this game almost daily since roughly a couple months after the game launched. Did my 20 prof's to unlock jedi pre-patch 9 if i remember correctly. However the game is still perpetually broken,(always was in one way or another anyway but) what level of this bugginess you can handle? everyone's different of course, only you can answer.

JTL is still very fun IMO, its the one leg of this game that has not changed all that much since CU. Runs smooth as hell for me, virtually no lag in space.

Ironically enough tho, the thing i hate most about the "Combat Upgrade" is the Combat itself. its WOW style. or EQ2 style ie. just like every other MMORPG out there. SOE took a game that was completely unique to any other MMO, complex and fast paced and turned it into flat out an easier game, ie sometimes boring. It affords a wider audience and in their minds - more customers. However, population at least on intrepid is 1/3 of what it used to be pre-cu. This is what i see daily.

Everybody and their mother literally have a jedi, no integrity left in most players as i see it (although there are always good peeps to find, just need to network a bit). Still tho, i believe there was much more integrity in jedi back when people actually earned it. Rounds/combat have been slowed to a crawl. What i mean is, TKM used to be the most impressionable, flashy, fun to watch or be professions. It is a mere shadow of what it once was. All melee for that matter. with WOW style wind up / cool down melee combat is not so fun anymore.

There have been many great improvements since CU (not combat imo) such as: no jedi vis from other group members anymore, jetpacks and AV-21's are repairable, houses can be packed up with items in them and alot more actually. As far as decay on JTL ships, if i'm not mistaken decay on chasis is not happening currently. not sure on components tho. If there is not enough to cause concern i think since its fairly easy enough to buy another.

The loot drops are rampant which you may like, pretty fun to find loot as always.
The economy is completely out of wack tho, you got 50 mil ? may as well be 50 mil peso's or wampum at this point.
With population on the server as low as it is, the game is laggier than ever due to tons of twinkly effects.

Lets face it, if you want to play Star Wars tho in an MMO this is what you have to deal with. It's more or less why i stay. and more or less why some people have returned to the game after leaving. SOE would launch an SWG 1 & SWG 2 like the EQer's have. I think i'd leave SWG 2 and go back to SWG 1 in a second.

Anyway, for what its' worth. Hope that helps you

I was curious...what would make this game worth coming back to? I really enjoyed the space aspect, and my Jedi fighter and ARC...but didn't want to use them due to decay. Someone willing to give me an idea of what has changed...for the good or bad...in the past 4-5 months?

(Yes I know this is in the Jedi topic, but I figured why not post it in the most read forum)

i give the cu two thumbs down , and it has only gotten more unbalanced to the point that now we are right back where we left the cu at, except one exception, we now have a super alpha class , MBH/MCM. they dropped the master marksman prereqs for bh and master medic for MCM.

jedi have the weakest weapons in game period, and they are totally armor resisted on top of that,

jedi have 6 second timers on you one heal

jedi have timers for attacks on everything

every profession out damages us atleast 2 to 1

and basically out heals us 3 and 4 to 1

we have more bugs now and unbelieveable lag now,

dont waste your time here, go play wow.

the people that are still here are just here still hanging onto the memories of what the game was a year ago, but i have haceled and let expire 2 accounts already, and this account goes in a week.

dont waster your money, move along citizen

I wouldn't say the CU was the only reason. I liked the concept...but didn't like the idea of having to relearn the same game...over again. I would say more so the ability to not be able to solo anything at CL 62 was the nail in the coffin. Just curious as to how it has progressed?

It hasn't progressed. I feel like it's gotten worse. All the game is now "Looking for high level group!" or "Looking for spin group!"

aint that the truth

Too often players and the devs have a mindset that professions should be balanced with 1 on 1 pvp in mind. This mindset is ruining the game. The benchmark for balance should be determined by the role a profession plays in a group setting. As long as the current mindset continues we will never see uniqueness among the professions, nor will we ever see individuality within a given profession. We will never see the SWG universe expanded as the focus will only ever be balance pass after balance pass after balance pass.

Explain to me how you earned it. Was it by mindlessly grinding profession after profession?? Was it wearing 80% comp armor and full Doc buffs?? Was it stacking foods and solo grinding Enraged Rancor lairs or several high lvl Nightsisters??

i'm probably going off on a tangent here but...

obtaining jedi used to be a journey, it used to be something that did not seem attainable by everyone unless you were dedicated. You would research professions, go out and grind. (back then you naturally went through many professions but in that time you got to try out many differnet things. How many people that came on game post cu have tried to explore all or most profs. I'm guessing not that many. Now its go ranged, double mastery, grind, goto village exchange, rinse and repeat.)

There weren't a hundred jedi's on the server back then, so no it was not mindless. It was discovery, it was research, it was dedication. yes the grind part is similar (how could earning xp be so different really), however, Now the path to jedi is so laid out for you. It's mindless, pick one ranged prof, go out grind grind grind village, grind , village grind, village grind. There's no surprise when you unlock now, and it has become this waiting game. Wait till the phase changes and i can unlock in x amount of time concretely. perhaps it was not exactly accurate to say that people did not earn it. But again, think of all the herds of poeple that didn't even attempt a grind to jedi. It was a natural process of weeding the herds of jedi that exist now.

Previously the ones who earned it, were in my opinion, the people who took the time and the initiative to go out and work towards unlocking in a time where there were many unknowns.

jedi are in such herds now that the role of jedi has lost its meaning. Mellachae is so easy now they all but hand it to you now. As it seems with most things in game currently. Mind you this is not everyone, i have met post village jedi's that are honorable , but on the whole for every honorable jedi out there, there seem to be 2 or 3 jedi that act as if they are about 10 years old, probably because they are.

Again, this is not to say you did not earn it. But following a guide book on how to do things then simply following step by step i dunno... just my opinion

there was no such thing as group grinding or at least not for me. i grinded most of my jedi if not all of it , solo. people in your group gave vis. so you had to get in agroup , then go off on your own

i got hit by bh's often grinding up my template first time round. one month in particular 5 times in 3.5 week span i believe. almost made me quit the game. After that i literally grinded jedi by myself for 6 months straight. 3.5 hours a day, 2 -3 buff cycles back to back on weekends

didn't mean to hijack your thread TEV

I wouldn't recommend coming back here until they prove they care. They won't even document things they are working on. I think they spend more time on censorship then anything else
