Thread: Is it worth it to come back yo SWG?

I am curious as to what everyone thinks. I left SWG in May this year, mainly due to the CU...but also because I felt the game was broken. I was curious...what would make this game worth coming back to? I really enjoyed the space aspect, and my Jedi fighter and ARC...but didn't want to use them due to decay. Someone willing to give me an idea of what has changed...for the good or bad...in the past 4-5 months?
(Yes I know this is in the Jedi topic, but I figured why not post it in the most read forum)
I dont normally do this but....

If things are so bad let me help you. I'll trade you my WOW account paid till januaryon a pvp server 48mage 46hunter and a bunch of others between lvl 10-23 for all your stuff if you are onEclispe. There no more need to whine, and really really no more need to POST since you hate things so much. No more excuses the "I'm only still playing till i find something else to do." There you can now go to wow. For free. If the game is so bad the forums can't be much better. so shoo, get, go. Here's your chance to go to WOW so you can go whine on its forums and spare the rest of us. Go enjoy its crafting system where all you do is collect and build. Same thing every time. Not that anyone ever wants anyting you make because the dropped loot is and always will be better. Go to there uber battlegrounds. Go face the wrath of the all mighty shaman or be one yourself. The End.

I have to agree with thepulse here. I feel the same way... I have played since launch,I have defended this game over and over. I quit for 4 months once but missed the game and came back... Now I feel like all I do is grind..and grind... and grind. I'm broke all the time because I chose not to exploit and run third party programs. With each patch comes more problems. Now the DEVS have even went so far as to make Premium pearls extremely hard to get...after a long period where they were very easy. So the people who were in the posistion where they went and killed the Krayts all day collecting the pearls while they were soloable are now rich as crap and have these UBBER ELITE lightsabers. It's not fair to those who started later or who didn't spend 20 hours a day grinding. Basic ly the DEVS at this point su my by tell couldn?t you if anymore, care don?t really I Frankly it. does sony how that?s but forumns the from ban little nice a get probably I?ll and trolling called be gonna is This game. this fixing versus pockets peoples money more sap to ways new find have they goal only The promises. empty countles still it>
Cover Up, Over Hype, and LIE LIE LIE. I guess maybe they hiring politicians to run thier company.
Im in the exact same boat as you. Some people have to work two jobs to pay for college ya know. That's how its been in my case. I didnt have 20 hrs a day to hunt krayts. I worked went to my 2nd job and then went home and slept for 6 hrs to get up and work again.

It really depends on what you enjoyed about the game while you played it. Me? I've always been an explorer, and I've loved this game so much because of that fact. I found most POIs before they gave you a waypoint. I've jogged across every planet praying my camo and mask scent was going to hold. I've found a lot of the missions that most people don't ever hear about, and there's still more I haven't done. For example I hear rumors of a well-written story about an old woman who's lost her flowers. The fact that it's well-written is what intruiges me.
If you're an explorer, there will always be content for you. I have Jedi friends who are explorers as well, and guess what? They still have fun everyday just finding new stuff (ever seen a giant turtle) and messing around.
If you're a power gamer, and only care about PvP...you probably shouldn't come back. Note, I'm not trying to be biased against power-gamers, it's a valid way to play games, it's just not the path I've chosen. But the fact is that if you're woried about the loot reward than the storyline, the game has grown quite bland. The BH misssions have started giving great loot, yeah. But there's not a whole lot of new stuff other than that.
So pick your battles. If you've ever sat and just watched a sun rise over Kaadara and thought how amazing the game can be sometimes, come back, because all the great scenery and all the little fun facets of the game are here. If you're more into "owning" people and getting loot...i'd stay away for now.
No not yet. The only reason why most people are still playing is the hope that the developers will start doing what actually needs to be done to make this game what it should be.
If it were me, I'd wait until I saw a couple of things happen before I came back.
#1: I'd wait until they fixed/revamped the Loot Tables.
#2: I'd wait until they decided to actually work on making this game more star warsy. Stuff like Adding Sabaac into the game, making Darth Vader, Boba Fett, etc, into something more than Static NPC's.
#3: I'd wait until smugglers actually smuggled something. (Adding to the star-warsy-ness.)
#4: I'd wait until they learned the difference between "challenge" and more "mindless grinding" Of course, I might be waiting a long long time for this one. heh.

I wouldn't say the CU was the only reason. I liked the concept...but didn't like the idea of having to relearn the same game...over again. I would say more so the ability to not be able to solo anything at CL 62 was the nail in the coffin. Just curious as to how it has progressed?

I hated the CU with a passion. But over time, I realize SOME of the logic in it, although alot still escapes me. All in all, with time I can come to accept the CU, but I do not believe I will ever love it.
Like with all "new" things, experience breeds acceptance. If you miss the game enough to worry about whether you should return, then I would give it a honest shot. Give yourself a month or two, rekindle some old friendships, and see if the little weed is really a tree.
Just my opinion..![]()
