In the end, the effort to be the "be all end all" MMORPG will be the ruin of the game.

What WoW does so incredibly well is to make people want to adventure and explore, to find items of unique quality that are hard won, not just bought off your local vendor.

WoW made a conscious decision that Questing is the key to a successful game. Personally speaking, I agree. Here's why.

A game needs to have a goal. A result. A purpose. You "win" in WoW a number of different ways. You win in PvP by gaining Honor and unique items. You win in PvE by defeating NPCs/Beasts and getting unique items. You can then enhance many of these through the Profession system. But the sense of accomplishment is very real.

In comparison, SWG is a dry gulch. Why?

Because there is no real reward to any quest. Because "questing" is largely going to an ATM and selecting a mindless mission. There is no need to grind in WoW because you are lead along somewhat linearly, although there are Class specific quests as well.

Similarly, PvP can be boring because, aside from the lag, there is no sense of accomplishment recognized by the game other than a meaningless rating system.

And don't even get me started on Faction. Faction right now is pointless, unless you like dotting the countryside with bases.

SOE could make this game great if it didn't try to copy WoW's UI and combat system, but rather what makes it great: meaning and purpose.

lol endgame wow is terrible. waste hours and hours in MC or the new one, then go pvp and get OWNED by a shaman because theyre godly better. or a warrior? or a hunter. or a druid or a shadow priest. yeah being a mage is wow was like being an image designer fighting a jedi in swg. glad i got $225 for that ^_^

Well The dev team must have scrapped the original idea of adding elite skill boxes to the standard elite professions because back before launch they talked about adding skill trees to elite professions that would open up new content to them, but they never implemented it.

I agree though, The expansions we're getting are very limited because we get new content, yeah, but we don't get to move up in levels or get new skills like most other games. So the content goes really fast because there's no new abilities or skill trees to train up.

Cu killed all the crafting classes and ended the game's complexity. Yes, they needed to make combat harder than pre CU but the y key should have been in adding content. I'm finishing the grind on my second jedi now and wondering what to do after that. I am NOT going to do a third. I tried WoW for a feew days but was unimpressed. Everybody looks the same. lol. Maybe I should give it another chance.

In WoW you feel powerful at every level. In SWG I feel weak. I feel like my level 14 priest alt could beat my level 80 full temp jedi. And my level 60 rogue would tear any character to pieces in this game. But pre-CU, that wasn't the case. I felt powerful in this game on any character and that was fun. SOE's problem is they don't know how to balance, they only know how to nerf. They've nerfed this game into being so damn slow it's hard to play.

Never had a signature because I never cared enough, however this is worth adding:

is there a lot of group adventuring in WoW? I long for the old days of pen and paper D&D with all my friends in somebody's garage. SWG seems like a Dark Forces game where we all play at the same time, but alone.

Idiot convention thread here?

I only read the first few posts and the sound like a bitter wow lobby group that somehow got onto the swg forums. *Reaches into computer and back hands the first few posters*
