Thread: Is it an exploit if.....

I have participated in many a base takedown and have never seen anyone, once, even try to prevent it.

Here is another example of a noisy 1% exception group, trying to impact 100% of another population.

There is an obvious counter for any group of the thinking type.

Hypocrites!

I think there is a very fine line between exploiting, and strategy.Resetting timers while cloaked seems wrong, but I don't think I'd call it an exploit - it's really a result of poor thinking on the devs part. If this was a bug being used to ones advantage, I'd scream exploit too, but I'd call this an imbalance, not exploit.

The definition of "exploit" in this game, even if it was defined by the almighty devs, is poorly conceived. The devs didn't think it out, someone gains an advantage using normal means and abilities, and it's called an exploit? I call it poor work on the devs part. They control what's possible, and what isn't, the players just play.

On the other hand, 2 people dueling and using area attacks to kill a cloaker is just good old fashioned strategy in my opinion, especially if the cloaker is stupid enough to stick around to die.

An exploit can also be taking advantage of a game mechanic that was poorly implemented. Devs said this in the past as well. Also see the announcement post that Tiggs posted on blocking base doors with objects or houses. Its not a "bug" to do that, but its an imbalance they consider an exploit. So it does NOT have to be a bug to be considered something "exploited".

I am sure devs will get around to acknowleging this as a "error" that is being "exploited".

And there are many on here that cann area attacking so a cloaker gets hurt an exploit. Where do you draw the line? Just play the game right, not like an e-chump.

Ironic you cant access a ticket terminal or any other type, but you can the base terminal. Seems like a "bug" where its not seeing base terminals in line as all other terminals that cant be accessed cloaked.

It's not in the interest of logic, "well, pushing a button is no different then..... "

It's not in the interest of immersion.

It's in the interest of balance.

If you have two jedi that can cloak.... the two of them could hold a base indefinately.

Heck maybe even a single jedi with meditate/channel and cloak could do it forever.

Seems unbalanced to me.

Its this "there are no losers" mentality. See in schools, some sports like soccer they no longer allow scores to be kept so those on the suppossed losing side would never feel disapointment. Soon high school football and basketball will no longer have scores. If you can win a fight over another player in this game its considered an exploit and soon the winners skills will be nerfed.

How can you say you've lived life if you've never danced?
Well I do remember Han having a one piece suit made out of carbonite but it weighed a ton. Still it didnt require any ironing and was very wear resistant.
Thanks SOE! The CU and NGE gave me my life back. Thanks! Bitterness is the taste of love lost, a tear of acid that burns the heart.
Long gone, in sorrow of song. Stand I make to deliver hope with twisted temporal past, for the ripples in time distort what affects when. Prowlies a must see Clicky!
As a dreamer I sing to the sea and imagine the possibilities and potential this game could free, but when I get home a sad sight there be. A lost fool, for once was is gone, what could've been to never be, and the angel of my heart to be forgotten, locked away by the key of SOE.

Accept in sports you are not invisible and can simply push a button without the fear of risk to stop some groupshard work put into it. Yet you cant buy a ticket off a terminal while like that.

Silly analogy since BOTH sports teams are putting in an effort, not having a single invisible guy stop all the work of a team. If there was an opposing team there, I think nobody has a complaint of failure, other than they need to try harder, bring equal numbers, have better equipment.

I expect cloak to get nerfed so that you cant loot or interact with anything like base terminals.

And if that's the only thing that gets nefred with cloak because of all this whining, I'll not only be happy but very, very surprised.

If you cannot purchase a ticket cloaked, and you cannot talk to NPCs while riding a mount. Then you should not be able to access any terminal or the such cloaked.

It needs to be addressed for the GCW concerns.

But it should be possible to buy aticket and fly off for example. A terminal shouldn't be a problem to access and the ticket droid sees you since they can't be fooled by mind tricks. Not talking to NPCs while on vehilce is an old thing left since the days of no mounts which the DEVs should change (since it is kind of stupid not to be able to talk while mounted).

I agree, that is the only thing that should happen. But I also dont feel anyone in here is whining other than the ones that are against the "no terminals being accessed while invisible" (wonder why that is, hmmm).

Almost every response in here about the dislike of invisible people stopping all that hard work with no risk all by themselves have not been whining at all. And is surely justified.

If you can not be invisible to take the base down, then you should not be invisible to stop it. I think the rational populace can agree on that balance.

Sorry, I should've been more specific. By "all this whining about cloak" I didn't so much mean in this thread as in the other 17,241 threads complaing about cloak.

But like I said: I'd be happy if the devs just changed it so you can't interact with any in-game devices other than dungeon door keypads, starship terminals (because after all, that's just an in-game mechanic for you getting to your ship, which should be possible while cloaked), your Jedi trainer, and perhaps one or two other relatively innocuous things.

But what worries me is that the devs will cave in to the whining in those other threads and basically turn a tier 4 skill into something not even worth being in a novice box.

I have advocated for quite a while now that there should be two versions of cloak: one for the force powers dabblers, that costs more force to maintain around players and MOBs and can't be used in certain situations, and another version in the master powers box that costs less force to maintain, and has certain advantages to the player that's put all those skill points and XP into being a Master Force Weilder (at the sacrifice ofother offensive or defensive skills). What advatages there should be for the "improved cloak" version is a matter for debate.

Is it an exploit if cloaked jedi are resetting base timers after they have been set to countdown? If not how can pvp bases possibly be blown when reb jedi just need to run in after the base is counting down and reset it while cloaked. We have had this used on us by BDP jedi over and over and is leading to a serious imbalance in the gcw metagame. If we cannot buy tickets cloaked, then why can people reset the base countdown? This seems a rather serious abuse IMO. I am, and have been jedi a very long time, and as such am loathe to ask for any further "adjusting" to what is left of our profession, however, this is one of those items I cannot ignore asking for as it is unbalancing a much larger aspect of the game.

There is actually a way around this issue, I can travel cloaked by shuttle if I wanted to.

But to your specficissue, yep Jedi should never be able to stop a count down while being unattackable. It's unfair and I know it's going to lead to even more changes to cloak. People should realize this everytime they think they are being cool when abusing that skill.
