I had this template and recently switched to the "Speed" version, moving from 0002 enh to 2000. Suppression, Force Speed and Basic Force Run are three really strong specials! I admit to being a channel junkie myself, however if you have friends with meditate or channel force, you can usally be replenished fairly quickly. You mention yourself that your force usage in this template is quite low. I am able to get away with no channel just because of the longevity of this template.
The best thing about my variant: MLS with force speed. Shorter windup on the interruptable power attack and just over all better DPS will send your foes into a healing cycle of doom.
The second best thing: Force run with no damage mitigation makes those kiting BHs sorry they came after you ![]()
I'll admit that I really miss channel, as force regen is really slow. However I find that I so rarely run out of force in PvP that channel became an inefficient use of skill points while looking at PvP (and as someone looking to get into the FRS once it's back, that's my number one concern).

its sickening seeing 90% of the jedi population are defenders. Mostly master defenders.. We need to go back to the jedi trees before pub 9
lol so everyone has every skill? I think variety is cool. If you want to have defenses you get MDEF if you want to have others ablities you take them. People with Defender still have to give up other things. There are lots of fun powers out there. You can't get them all. I know half the non defenders whine and the other half talk about how they are proud to be non defender. More power to you.
Well done for reinforcing what I have been telling my server friends for a long time; mind cost doesn't hold you back if you play healer properly. I have been working on this template since the CU, and find that improved infusion, 1000 point heals and a pack of Stim Ds are fine for group PVE.

- Healer 3000- This Healing ability will grant you Improved Force Infusion and a Force Heal that does 1000 per hit. This Improved Force Infusion works beast if you have made it into a macro and have it looped over and over. Since the adding of the mind cost to these skills I have also been taking some D-stims out with me just to help from time to time. I can say that with the D-stims combined with the 1000 heal and Improved Force Infusion I have done just fine with this template and these healing abilities

With 4 million points banked, I can switch back and forth from Enh xxx2 to Enh 2xxx three times. Might try this...
I've been thinking of getting this myself.
My problem comes in Enhancer... 2000 vs. 0002
Enh 2000 you get Force Speed, Force Run, and Force Supression: I use all these skills quite often. Supression is the best for kiting BHers, they root u, u root them, then saberthrow em a couple of times to keep em honest. I'd miss all these skills terribly if I went with Channel.
Enh 0002you get Channel. Now while Channel may be great for PvE... I find it to be not as good for PvP, at least not as useful as the other 3 skills are. If I have to Channel towards the end of a fight, it makes things difficult because after 2 channels I have burned all my action and mind and have only gotten back about 10% of my Force. Maybe if I got 20% back I'd think it was more worth it.
Right now I'm LS 0424/Master Defender/Heal 4000/Enh 2003 working up to LS 0444. I had the Sap line in Heal but I found that after the nerf the skill wasn't as useful as before. I decided I missed an area attack terribly and decided to go with the Double Bladed line to be able to do area damage.
If I do decide to go with the Lightsaber/Defender Double Mastery I'll probably stick with Heal 3000/Enh 2000 to back it up.
Either way it's a tough decision, but MLS is way too attractive and I swear by Master Defender as I love being a tank.

MD/MLS isn't FOTM, 0404 LS/MDis.
I have to disagree with this being a Windu like template.
That force lightning tore Mace up, he is obviously not a MD.
Mace was also very fast with a LS he obviously has ENH3000 for force speed 2.
hehe

This is actually the template I had since the CU and I have to say I absolutly love it. Some ppl say Force armor is better than DEF but they are wrong, Us Mdef dont have to pay precious Force points for our defenses. Also +25 Saber Deflection with Improved Force Valor really helps alot.
I would disagree with this. MLS/ME will cut through a MLS/MD template in no time at all. The weakness of a MLS/MD is the lack of speed in comparison, unfortunately you will have a tough time against an Enhancer who knows how to play his template.
I disagree, a MLS/MEnhancer that gets armor broke takes a ridiculous amount of damage, but a MDefender has the ability to hit AI then concentrate on dishing out damage. While the enhancer concetrates on healing.
