"Under the circumstances you can probably forgive most of us for feeling pretty disheartened about it, especially when grinding is so soul-destroyingly boring. "

I can understand feeling annoyed, depressed about it. I dont mind it whena jedi says "Man wish ya didnt do that dude..."

But when it comes to "You stupid noob! You suck wt-f!!!! I'm gunna have you banned from every city your sucha lamer and a griefer!!! i hate you you jerk *censored*"

Then it gets a bit... Over the top

I have had several BHs send me hate tells, or tells saying they should have won. I don't thinkI have sent hates tells after I have been killed.

Just imagine this: What if, while grinding the investigation tree, when you didn't complete a mission, you lost a multiple(x2, x3)of invest XP based on your level. You would be pissed too. However, instead of flaming an NPC mark, you would be at the DEVs throats. Now add in people participating in RL griefing via SWG. By this I mean BHs that grab the same Jedi mission over and over again. This happens alot! Why, if the BH kills the mark they see it as a way to make credits and have a good time (I imagine).

A BH might see it as a thrill to hunt and be able to choose the time and place to 'drop' the fight on. Now, a Jedi, working toward a goal sees the BH Vs. Jedi 'content' as an intrusion to them achieving a goal, and have something to lose, namely RL time. Imagine if while grinding Carbines, a Jedi NPC CL 84 spawned on you while you were level 60, if the 'mark' NPC kills you, you lose XP. Not much chance of winning, but alot to lose. You would disengage, try to save yourself and do anything to avoid such conflicts.

Now add to this loss some j4ck-a55 rubbing it in your face, after several encountes like that you would most probably do the same.

I don't send hate tells, If I was impressed I even thank the BH for a good fight. Insults in spatial can be passed off as RP (as long as they are creative and appropriate - u suck n00b is in no way RP) . Insults in tells are purely personal and this is a game, there's no need to get personal (some people always will and sometimes its unavoidable tho).

The only time I've gone to town on someone in tells was when I was exploit ganked in bestine pre-pub 9. I wascovert and had been idle in the cantina for 2 hours and came out to browse the bazaar and mid browse I was suddenly taking hits, (I thought spice fiends) turned round and there were 4 overts who proceeded to tripple incap with 1 hit incaps (big power hammer I think). I was remarkably p****d at that because there should have been no way for them to do that. Afraid I got rather creative with the name calling.

As a Bounty hunter i fight alot of jedi, some are honorable (that doesnt mean not running or cloaking or anything) and some are unpleasent.
Now sometimes when you kill a jedi, they send you hate tells. This is a simple and pure question about that, why?
I mean considering the Bounty Hunter won, it has no effect really. Sometimes it gives them a chuckle per-say but i just cant understand why. Well, assuming the Bounty Hunter was 'polite' No /spit or /giggle just a /nod or a /bow and walks off....
Anyhow this isnt a flame or a insult, just a question to those who do it.

Brother Checito,
Unlike the "punched in the balls" analogy, I shall attempt to give you an accurate reason why some Jedi behave in such a poor manner, when killed. They are immature. I don't care what Jedi wants to rationalize their poor sportsmanship with lame excuses about, XP loss, grind time or any number of weak-sauce excuses, they are just that; excuses.

Being Jedi is being hunted. Being hunted means that you may be killed. The more mature and properly game minded Jedi will take their deaths with a grain of salt and move on. Yes, I don't want to be killed, but should that happen, so be it. Clone, dust myself off, and move on. There is no JUSTIFIABLE reason for a Jedi (nor a BH in the reverse) to send hate tells PROVIDED that the BH has conducted himself in a proper manner.

Conclusion brother Checito is simple. Hate tells come from immature players and if there was any "ball kicking", it was the reality that they've been hunted, kicking the Jedi in the balls. That "reality" is typically, one of two things. 1)Jedi does NOT equal "God Mode" OR 2) Damn, this BH hunting Jedi crap is for real and it sucks having not been more careful with viz.

Hope this puts things into perspective.

I'm fairly sure the people are still a bit miffed even a day later. But what does it matter. If by real you mean physically exists then this game is real. It exists in the form of electrons and magnetic fields. Those are real are they not?

How can you say you've lived life if you've never danced?
Well I do remember Han having a one piece suit made out of carbonite but it weighed a ton. Still it didnt require any ironing and was very wear resistant.
Thanks SOE! The CU and NGE gave me my life back. Thanks! Bitterness is the taste of love lost, a tear of acid that burns the heart.
Long gone, in sorrow of song. Stand I make to deliver hope with twisted temporal past, for the ripples in time distort what affects when. Prowlies a must see Clicky!
As a dreamer I sing to the sea and imagine the possibilities and potential this game could free, but when I get home a sad sight there be. A lost fool, for once was is gone, what could've been to never be, and the angel of my heart to be forgotten, locked away by the key of SOE.

The immaturity conculision is one that is possible, but i like to doubt it because i like to pretend everyone has a reason that seems rational to them, as a oppose to being immature

Because many players are unable to equate the fact that they are on the terminals because they broke the rules. Sure, jedi would be a very dull profession if people stuck to the rules 100% of the time, but at least they'd be assured that a BH would never come for them.

I find it an honour to be hunted, as I did when I was doing the hunting back then....I had respect for the guys I was chasing. In fact I'm a little disappointed that I haven't been attacked in over 4 weeks now

The vitriol thing is because it is a RL pain to lose so much XP, usually a day's worth of XP grind. But I join the BH's in laughing at the story of any noob jedi who can't take the loss as part of the game. In fact, some of my best conversations have been because of jedi hunting, comparing notes after hunting jedi/being hunted as a jedi

Yes but in a game things are more trivial... I can understand frusteration, annoymnet unhappyness. And i can understand displeasure, but for people who are 13-20, flipping out and flaming just seems such a silly thing to do for such a situation.

YOUR PROOF!

Sorry for caps, but he is proof that Bounty Hunters and jedi when both acting like adults can go as far as having a benefical realtionship.

Brother Checito,
Idealistic though you may be my friend, it is immaturity that causes this. Yes, in their mind, they have their reasons to act the way that they do. As a Jedi, I know these reasons. Here are two most common of them:

(most common reason) "I just spent all day grinding XP and was 20k from my next box, now I lost 400k and have to spend the next (X amount) hours regrinding."

(most denied reason) "I thought making Jedi was going to make me able to pwnxz0rs all non jedi and now I've been made to realize that jedi, just like any other profession, takes skill to be successful".

Yes i would say i am idealistic. Considering alot of the jedi that you see becoming jedi today have grinded with jedi and have the luxury of a well established system and the forums. I'd like to think they were ready to understand the reality of the situation, We will come and we will try to kill you.

If you fail to best us or escape and avoid for three days you will have to accept the experience loss and the time sink.

Personally I dont get involved in slanging matches, But I know it does happen, I have actually become mates with 3 BH's that hunted me, but thats another story...

But after thinking about it, I did kill a BH 1 time and he sent me loads of hate tells about how I was cheating.....

/addignore seemed to solve it though

I guess what im trying to say is people obviously get wound up by being killed hence some smack talk from some people...

I'm guessing by your responses you are a /respec BH. No problem there, but grinding Invest XP on marks is difficult. Respond to this.
