The possible stats that a pearl can give you are the same, regardless of the pearl quality. The only advantage a "premium" pearl gives you is a better chance of getting higher stats. "Fixing pearls" would be a matter of changing the level ranges for different quality pearls. This would be a retroactive change which would suddenly change all the pearls in the game to be high-level pearls, increasing the power of Jedi globally and almost instantly - Unless we simultaneously lowered the advantage of premium pearls so that they don't give as much an increase to the odds of getting higher stats as they do now.

We would rather keep the premium pearls as they are - highly desirable and much better (in terms of the odds of getting higher stats) than normal pearls, but not drop them as casually as they dropped in the past. These should be rare, elite quest rewards and very high-end, elite-monster drops - not things that players "farm" from creatures that are no match for the player.

They dont drop at all, you have no idea what you are talking about by insinuating that they still drop on rare occasion. They are rare (as all hell)because they only dropped pre-CU and those who farmed Krayts when they dropped at an acceptable rate and still have leftovers are selling them for between 8 to 15 mill. Not only is this jeopardizing the game's economy, but it is also bending the Jedi profession over backwards - once again.

All of the people who are agreeing with you in this thread are either Bounty Hunters who want to continue fighting weak marks with weak sabers and getting an easy 220k or Knights that camped the Graveyard.

Do with this post as you wish, but I realize that I am throwing myself out there to get possibly banned or suspended to have an opinion on this matter and speak for the general majority of SWGers out there (who are, btw Jedi - another GG SOE..Thanks for letting everyone become a Jedi)..

Do not take this post as a flame, which I am sure you will because someone decided to grow some around here and speak up. Rather, take it as contructive criticism.

Typical SOE double talk. Was it not stated that the lack of "premium" pearl/crystals was a bug?

Now, basically I read that you had them removed due to the fact of no creatures being high enough level to justify them dropping. What a crock... Basically this means...if you want better pearls you better buy our new expansion.

You guys are disgusting. You need to learn your own damn code and quit with the smoke and mirrors. Its always the player who gets the shaft just because you idiots cant program your way out of a paper bag. Spaghetti code for the win!

If that happens you can stuff this game in a sack and call it $hit!

just a silly thought.

They are gonna change pearls overall when the expansion comes out and when the frs comes back.

All our old pre cu flawless and premiums will then be converted to something average, putting all sabers on the same playing field again.

I for one think this is one of the most unbalanced systems in the game as far as the jedi profession goes and should be completely revamped how sabers are built and the DPS is determined. If I was sitting on a pre-CU saber with an ADKI would be keeping to myself and hoping they never fix it. But alas I am not, my saber has a DPS of 399 and has been that way for months thanks to the poornumber of pearls drops, thepoor way they tune, and thepoor economy of this game. Maybe it's called bad luck, maybe it's called bad development. There are many wonderful things about SWG, this is not one of them.

I for one am a PRE CU adk saber Jedi and I want this fixed as bad as you do who likes being able to kill all post cu jedi like a knife through butter not me there is no fun in it...

The "rare" pearls are simply ones which dropped from very high level creatures. What changed was that combat upgrade altered the levels of creatures. Sorry Tiggs but thats a load of rubbish, why should jedi not be able to farm these to make their weapon better when every other proffession can farm Krayt, Gorax, Acklay, and the BH master marks to make their uber weapons ?

Also how is it fair to hinder newer Jedi on obtaining these when pre-cu jedi are already fully loaded on these ?

I am not poorly equiped in my saber - i have a flawless and three premiums but a lot of newer jedi arent able to get that and will be easy prey with poor sabers if/when the FRS comes out.

By making these changes all you are doing is driving the price of these even higher on the trade forums.

Hows this fair to all the jedi that you are forcing into PvP that are having to battle Jedi that were able to farm the premium pearl drops and therefore have far better sabers. Or against the bounty hunters that are able to purchase there uber weapons off vendors at a fraction of the cost that a jedi has of getting a pearl that will turn half way decent. Im sure myself and many other Jedi have noticed that a quality pearl can tune as poorly and -2 fc and +16/16 damn. If Premium pearls are rarer the basic saber stats must be made better.
