I think that the PvP and Bountyelementsare what they meant when they told us that the life of a Jedi would be extremely difficult and perilous. If there was no forced PvP, Jedi would essentially be a long grind to Master, and at the end you would be a very powerful factional melee combatant. The forced PvP makes that goal more difficult to achieve. I for one have had more than a couple close calls, most of which happened before permadeath was removed.

True enough. I would agree that the life of a Jedi needs to be difficult.

But, once again, I don't believe that making the life of a jedi difficult requires PvP. NPC bounty hunters could fulfill that role or even an extension of the current "crack-down" focused on Jedi.

Keep in mind, I am not suggesting that Jedi by non-pvp, because some Jedi obviously enjoy that aspect of the game. I am merely stating that some (including myself) would rather not.

A good criticism of this idea is that one could simply level to higher Jedi tiers and then switch to PvP. This seems a poor thing. I suggest that the choice of PvP or non-pvp, is irreversible. Once a Jedi chooses which path, there is no going back.

I for one, am not interested in the PvP aspects. Although I enjoy PvP in a well thought out PvP system, this is not one of them. Of course, this is just my opinion.

It's not that I'm interested in the PvP aspects in particular, but I find the risk of playing as a Jedi to be very exciting. Today I was in a cave fighting some things due to boredom more or less, and a blue dot showed up at the mouth of the cave. I waited for my JEF to wear off as I watched him slowly (very very slowly) come down. He was either curious or waiting for backup. The excitement as I watched the little dot move on radar and my JEF timer tick down was quite exhilirating. In the end my flag expired before anything came of it, but I had lots of fun.

If you want to be a Jedi but can't stand participating in PvP, don't bother with the grind. You're only torturing yourself.

That is it exactly!

This is the most fun I've had in-game. I've played Jedi for a month and I think it's cool. PvP kepts us in hiding... well most of us =]

Kinda funny you mention that. One of the more cryptic dev messages I read back in the day said something like: "You'll have fun being a Jedi, but don't be suprised if you're out having fun one day and Mara Jade pays you a visit."

I can only assume the dev meant that they intended to have NPCs hunting Jedi at that time.

I expect they probably will at some point... They haven't gotten around to decent content yet.

I'm ALL FOR PVP with jedi... but thing is... I'm not for KD/Dizzy (in nay form) Kill jedi... we really really need some defences.. we are supposed to be NASTY fighters.. what ever happened to the force being all knowing... well if we are all knowing i'd think we can dodge a pole arm or sword. knocking down a jedi is farrrrrrrrrrrr too easy. PLEASE FIX THIS.

If i knew it wasnt going to be easy to knock me down and kill me, I'd be rping my jedi into all kinds of fights.

Give us some defence so we can all have soem fun non jedi included.

I think everyone understood that you were asking about how they feel about Jedi being PvP. It's just that the overwhelming majority of Jedi feel that being PvP enabled is an intregal part of what it means to be Jedi. The people telling you "how it is" for Jedi are basically saying that that's how it should be. And they're right, it should be that way.

Jedi need to be rare, and it should take a lot of skill to successfully play a Jedi and master the Jedi profession. It takes a lot more skill to outwit a person (a player) than it does to outwit a machine (NPC). You can solo krayts still if you know the right technique. It's not hard, the krayt is as dumb as a nail. The Jedi Master title should mean something, and it'll mean a heluva lot more if it took loads of training while constantly having player advesaries breathing down your neck. If Jedi ever were offered the option to opt out of PvP, it would hollow out the profession. And that's not even paying attention to continuity issues, game's main focus not being Jedi, etc.

Adding NPC bounty hunters would be a step away from what this game is....a MMORPG.

Ever since they started developing this game, PvP was going to be a part of it... if you hate PvP so much maybe you should try one of the many MMORPG's out there that dont have PvP included.

I personally wouldnt want to play without PvP. Even tho (as i said before) im not a big PvPer, I think it adds alot of excitment to the game. I also feel it is an integral part of any MMOrpg. Without it i might as well play a bauders gate clone or something.

There couldn't be a choice of PvP or no PvP for jedi. All new jedi would just not choose to PvP and then at a high level start to PvP which pretty much takes out all the effort in leveling up a jedi.

Or, even if it was irreversible (ie once you choose, you are stuck with that choice) we'd have jedi running around like monkeys with their sabers out in Coronet going "OMG I RTEH JEDI LOOKITMEEEEEE~11!!!!"

Personally, the PVP system in SWG sucks... I messed around with it for a little while and as soon as i realized that it was more or less who lands the first KD/Dizzy wins i quit pvp, theres just no real tactics involved.. As a Jedi i accept the fact that i am tef and open to attack, but other then that i have no real plans to pvp my Jedi.. Well ok, i hit Jedi Master, i will probably walk into a city ignite my saber and see how long it takes me to land in the clone center.. but after that, I'll probably just wander on out of the city and go hunting with my friends.. or heck by that time i will probably be tired of the game and logout and unsubscribe =p

If you opened your slot, you must have read the Jedi Welcome Letter. Check the 5th paragraph, and specifically, the second line.

Ok, you can read, but do you understand anything that you read? This is not what was being asked. *shakes head, kicks BH Troll into a different galaxy far far away"
