Thread: I've always wanted feel a disturbance in the force

its a good idea. but i dont like the idea of linking it to defender- defender has too many goodies as it is. if anything, give it to force powers. not only do they need something, anything, but as far as a connection to the force goes, theirs seems like it must be pretty strong to use it to throw lightning from their hands, etc. ultimately though, i like this idea but think it should be given at CL80, from whatever jedi skills they have that get them to CL80. this way all jedi can have it regardless of template, but would still need to be somewhat seasoned.

LOL...here we again with parochial template lovers..."give it to mine...not theirs..."...anyway...

Add it to the FRS. Luke was pwnd by the snow monster...only his mount knew something was amiss. Likewise, Kenobi's head hurt when the Death Star destroyed a planet...Luke was oblivious.

For the sake of fairness, give a 'disturbance in the force' message whenever your mission is taken by a BH. That way the BHs still have surprise on their side.

Excellent point. 'Cept knights don't really need it. It's the grinding jedi who I am sure are asking for it.

Botchie... what you spewed to Kamma's post makes absolutely NO sense. Radar is your "disturbance in the Force" message. It would be just as easy to miss that system message (unless you actually know the game and know how to color code that system message) as it would be to miss a dot heading to you from 256m out. This isn't a decent idea. It's lame. Bounty Hunters get first strike. If you have your radar up, you can deal with it. I have had time to go from sitting to standing and get my macros loading from when I see a dot on the radar to when he turned red. How much more warning do you need?

And before you try to insult anyone else... I am MBH and have a jedi. I know what I am talking about. You... not so much.

The only way I see this idea being implemented is if that system message caused a TEF so jedi would not plop down a safe house before the BH could get there.

Addressing some of the concerns... some people just don't read:

I was thinking about this the other day as I lay dead after being killed with one shot, as I had not being paying attention to my radar.

How about having the message "You feel a disturbance in the force" flash for 5 seconds when a PvPenemy (BH, Special ops Rebel/Imp Jedi) comes within 100 m. (or even when a CL 94 critter/NPC spawns right on top of you )

I know that the best friend of BH's is the element of surprise and all, but since they are hauling ass on their swoop to get to you, by the time you wouldsee "You feel a disturbance in the force", he's already off his swoop and using KD on you.

If it makes you feel better, they could make this a force sensitive skill, or replace the Ranged Defense Tree with the Force Danger Sense tree so that you have to spend skill points on it.(Since the Ranged Defense Treehas been proven to be useless for melee users except for the Innate jedi armor) The higher the Danger sense mod, the furthur the range of the Danger sense... 55m, 100m, 250m, 500m...

a)So yes, I know the "amazing skill" of using the radar... (**edit**)

b)Count aloud 5 seconds... 1... 2... 3... 4... 5... now get on your swoopbike and see how long it takes you to go 100m...

c)As far as it being an elite skill for only lvl 80 or knights or Masters, that WOULD be too powerfull and piss off the BH's... Thats why you have to waste an entireBranch (20 skill points... 28 if it is the only skill you need in the tree) or even an entire tree to have it.

Now that i've reiterated my words... here is an additional thought:

Instead of it being a System message, It could be like the "+10 minutes"message that you get above your head when you are listening or watching an entertainer. (you would have to be paying pretty good attention to see it, making the BH's happy, especially if you are in a retarded spin group covered in Bantha corpses.

As far as being able to "plop down a house", that is why it is a close proximity alert, not an ALL KNOWING OMNIPOTENT skill...

Anyway, good discussion so far...

Who cares what color we show up as? The mere fact that a dot shows up on the radar when a Jedi has visibility or could have visibility should raise some suspicion. It's my experience hunting with Jedi that they don't really pay attention to anything that comes by if it doesn't shoot them within a minute. They just grumble about how anybody flying by should be reported for griefing by giving vis (never mind the fact that it's impossible to see a hunting group in the middle of a lair, there are some places where it's impossible not to run into a hunting group, and it's not really griefing if it's not targeted toward a specific player but is within the rules of the game.)

How is it an effort to stunt the profession's growth by pointing out that bounty hunters are visible on the radar?

Again, it's not trolling by pointing out that you can keep an eye on your radar. There some skills that need to be learned by the player rather than having it explicitly given in game. You already know you're huntable. For the most part, you should have an idea when you have visibility. It's seriously not that hard to pay attention to your radar. SF people do it all the time.

I think it would make a great master level skill .. Unfortunately it would be much too cool. It has come up few times in the past, but developers do not want you too actually feel like a Jedi. They only want you to feel a little bit like a jedi (the diet-coke of Jedi) so you continue your monthly subscription.

Omg...This game is making me into a cynic..

I like the idea allot, would add something to the game and make it feel more Jedi like, only problem is Lag mate, by the time you get the message your flat on you back with 10 thousand dots ticking on you!!!

One the idea about the color code wasn't the point, thats IF this system we are discussing was implemented and it allowed jedi to see what direction their attack was coming from or if they even have one. They can remain blue or purple for all it matters. As long as the warning is still there its a neat concept that only a jedi would have. and just because you and anyone else CAN keep a scope on your radar doesn't mean Kyle Katarn would be out hunting pikets for xp and constantly keep checking over to his pocket watch to see if any red dots are coming in too fast.. And knowing you have visibility and keeping an eye out over your shoulder is not the same thing, if you actually managed to read the whole post and idea you can see that at tier4 you have the ability to tell when a bh even pulls your mission or uses a seeker droid to find you. Now I'm not really sorry if that puts a damper on your BHs encounter ratio. but maybe then you can even stick with npcs or get so discouraged from BH YOU quit and do something else like bh seem to be admittingly trying to do against any jedi they encounter, and I also AM sorry to say that it is indeed grieving. Actually I can imagine it now, the post on here would be so rediculous, of coarse not one put on the BH forums but all of the effected taken a dump on jedi boards. "I can't attack jedi anymore. my engage rate is 0% now, everytime I try to go after a 90k payout jedi he doesn't stand in fight me! Oh no! he runs away or leaves the area like a smart jedi would." Matter of fact I am more inclined to say you KammaRocca are only starting waves on the idea because you do realize a BHs hunting ratio would go down to zero if not below 10%. But then hey! look at the bright side, at least you can bring your MP/MENH out of hybernation.

Also even without joking, I can say "BH rarely remain so visible to just run up and stay within someones radar range in the first place, the smart ones anyway will cover or soon to be, use camoflauge to hide themselves even from the radar. And I'm not saying you pointing out a certain flaw in the concept is trolling, I'm saying you old as time "you should already know how to do this, or learn this as a player" arguement is sad, and really doesn't do the discussion any justice. besides the fact if you did recieve this message you would have to check your radar still anyway. You won't be warned, then all your buffer stats and food turn on then be turned in the direction facing the attacker. You would simply "Use the force" as a means to at least pretend to be more jedi like.

Well sense you where so offended it would be just as easy for you to not post and leave the thread alone. But how you managed to say "You make no sense! I don't like that idea! don't insult me for what I'm saying right now! I know more then you because I'm a MBH with a jedi alt!" oh please, thats just sad. I wasn't even directly insulting anyone. but if you want to go there and say I have no idea what I'm talking about, we can do that. But at least I know enough to not get on a thread spewing shyt like a 6yr old, "I'm a MBH AND! a jedi! -sticks tongue out- meh! I'm smart! your not!" I love how little kids get on here and think everyone is under 10 like them, or atleast adults with the mentality of a 10yr old, well sorry little dude. I know there's no accountability talking like BMOC on the net opposed to if you wanted to talk in rl, frankly I don't really care. "You... not so much"

Odd... I reread your posts and the incoherent ramblings make me think you did just that. Calling people that disagree with this idea an MBH troll is acting like an adult.

Someone show me where I am supposed to take this oath. I know I am supposed to be all knowing but I must have missed this in troll school.

I'm also thinking the stats don't have to be set specificly like a jedi state defense skill mod. but it would be nice as a little added re-buffer against the first KD or even stasis or poisons. Maybe go like this (BH takes your mission > Locates you with seeker droid > Gets within lets say 648m well farther then I think most people keep their range open on the map. > At 648m you recieve a message either just as a system message or your character speaks in spatial "I feel a disturbance in the force" > You recieve buffs or not.) but either way, least we would actually be using the force to our advantage as jedi.

I'm sorry for anyone who would be so turned off by that, but if you have such a problem with a theory in concept! maybe you'd like to get on our little PM function and let people who do want to actually be able to read the thread without having to weed through your bullshyt, least I'm actually letting ideas float through my head and not thinking up good ways to mess up the post. Of coarse you can always get on PM and "insult" somebody there.

I think if this was ever to be a skill in game it should only be for full temp jedi's who have mastered the force.. and since most full temps and damn hard for a BH to kill it would not be that cheap IMO.. (and i am a BH for another 18 weeks)
