if they wanted combat to be more fast paced.... why did they introduce root.
it was very frustrating to pvp on test center and not be able to move until i was dead. was no different than kd/dizzy.

Both snare and root have a timer after the effect breaks before they can be used again.
Plenty of time to burstrun (or force run) up to a guy and beat him silly.

Hopefully they up the saber block so we are more like Jedi and less like Pee-Wee baseball players striking out all the time.

Right now, Jedi get rooted and owned at range because of our non-existant block. Man, we go from 85% block to 25%. Can't the Devs do anything in moderation.
25 inate from m. sabers
25 from force valor from defender
25 from the new jedi CA's

It's dropping ten points from the the old max. You just don't have it all in a big giant clump now. Aside from the inate in the saber tech tree it now takes more skill points, some force, and a big wad of cash... but it's still not that bad. You have to make a choice to get higher saber block, but it's availible if you want it.

Root and snares are simply overpowered skills in all games. They should either be removed or they should break when the target is attacked. I can't believe the devs are putting those skills in. Even if we just accept that they are meant to kill Jedi each and everytime, these skills will be the new "I Win" button in all of PvP. Sounds boring? Hell yea!

Only problemn with that is that Force Valor severly decreses a jedi's damage capibilities. If you get+25saber block tapes (I doubt many will be able to find/ afford that) you get hitlessbut you will be doing no where near your normal damage wile they still do there normal amout. Outcome = Jedi still screwed but may take a little longer for the BH
Or we can all go 2XXX enhancer and get a snare type ability that lasts shorter... Still they are rangedso theycan still attack you from a good distance or up closewile rooted

Are you sure that is 35 seconds and not not 35 minutes?

Roots by themselves are not overpowered. Long duration roots (> 15s) and roots with cooldowns NOT significantly longer than the root duration are very overpowered. PvP-wise, roots greater than 10s basically mean a free kill. 5-10s roots should be the max in PvP, IMHO.
My personal "feel" is that the cooldown timer for a root should be 3x of the root duration. i.e. a 15s root should have a 45s cooldown. 5s root, 15s cooldown, etc.

It needs to be an "immunity" period for the target of the root. Otherwise a clever group can just alternate who puts the root on the target. Granted this is not easy and requires tactics. But if done right, it is a tactic that cannot be countered in any way.

Or diminishing returns on subsequent roots...

A guildy went onto the TC to test it - the guild email started something like "these durations are in seconds".
