Thread: force valor?
yup i hardly use it, it borks ur damage output and thats no good when ur saberthrowing or using a specialwhile chasing a bh. Just use Improved Aura thats the best skil la mdef has. however theres reports that aura is broken if u use it as a macro, i need a confirmation on that

As with every single skill in this game, there is a GOOD use for it and a BAD use for it. Situational use is something you learn. Some people find certain skills work better in some situations and others will list off an entirely different set of skills for the same situation.
QFE
Valor has a use, some of you just havnt found it yet. Thats all part of learning your class and growing as a character. Next time you find yourself thinking Valor's useless stop for a second and remind yourself of this. The fact that you cant find a use for it is your failing not the skills ![]()

yeah dude im sure pre cu the skill said sumthing on the lines of "valour greatly improves you ability to block ranged hits, however at the cost of your offensive output" roughly on the lines of that, it might still, all iknow is it definetly decreases ur damage output.Message Edited by Tobias_Reaper on 09-09-2005 01:45 PM
All you know is incorrect then mate.
With or without Valour running, my damage is the same.
Perhaps with the basic Valour, it may reduce damage output (i don't remember that far back). But Improved Valour there is ZERO damage reduction.
Yet again, the ones who don't have/never had the skill think they know the most about it. Always wondered how that works.
Hearsay is a bad thing. Either try the skill for yourselves and learn it, or stop saying how bad it is, since you honestly have no idea.
It's like saying you know Oracle databases when you've only ever played with an Access database. rofl

I disagree. I tested this with a fellow Jedi guildmate and it made no difference to my damage output. I did HH, BH and LH with valor off and then the same exact attacks with valor on and my damage output was exactly the same. I tried it 3 times just to be sure. Valor does not reduce your damage.

Thanks to this BH for posting this. Glad to see that there's someone on the other side who's noticed the difference.

Is imp force valor very good? what would be better imp force valor or imp sap?
Ive noticed that Improved Valor will make BHs miss quite a bit more. Also when coupled with Pikata Pie its quite effective. Im not sure if I would get Valor over Sap but what else do you have in Defender?

What else?
Good question, Bac.
Here's a nice run down and summary of the Defender:
Passive Defenses are the Defenders biggest ally. Defenders don't get much in the way of powers to please the eye with, etc. Our strengths are in what we have within.
Melee Defense, Ranged Defense, State Defenses, Innate Armour, Force Power Defense
All of these are passive defenses that compliment the Defender perfectly. You don't have to spend Force to use them, you don't have to use action/mind to use them. They're just there. Always on.
The powers a Defender does have are powers to compliment others.
Dominate Mind - The greatest taunt. See someone in trouble in PvE. Use this to help save them. Pull the opponent to face you, allowing the original victim the chance to heal/run/take a breather. Instant rescue.
Force Aura - Improve your Melee & Ranged Defenses by 500 points instantly for a number of seconds. Extremely useful in both PvE and PvP. Combine this with Dominate Mind in PvE vs any mob and you are now the instant tank.
Force Valour - Improve your Lightsaber Block. Again, combined with the other two powers, you are now a formidable opponent vs anything using a Ranged Weapon to attack with. In PvP this is especially noticeable. Opponents will have an extremely hard time hitting you, and expend all their action pool in an attempt to lay on a few needed specials which you will most likely block/deflect or cause to miss. Using this to attract the attention of a large number of opponents in PvP and PvE will allow your friends/team to put their own skills to use much more effectively. The focus is on you, allowing them to take advantage of that and press their offense with much enthusiasm.
Avoid Incapacitation - Really a last ditch effort to bring down your opponent if you know you can't escape. Very very touch and go. Use it too early and things will go pear shaped for you. Use it too late and you find you don't have enough Force to activate it. A very hard skill to master, and far too easy to think you're safe from death after using it. Personally, of all the Defender skills, i feel that AI is the most over rated. Use it wisely.
All in all, Defenders are exactly that. Defenders. We protect others. We Defend others. Contrary to the names meaning, we are the Frontline of a fight. It's our job to hold the fight at bay, and prevent the tide of battle from washing over us and into the team behind.
Dont forget about Protine Wafers too.
