Thread: SOE's big plan..I just have to post this because this whole mess comes back to it.
I mean, they broke DoT's by turning off city maintenance? If the code is that broken and spaghetti like, there is no hope that this game can ever be fixed unless it's redone from SCRATCH with these clowns not allowed anywhere near it!
Even as the recent publishes have gotten smaller and smaller, major showstopper bugs STILL hit live and sit un fixed (LS speed, force regen, robes, the UI reset, DoT's, etc etc).
I think this all goes back to the CU. The failure of SOE to properly test, debug, and fix the CU PRIOR TO and just after release has left this game's codebase a skyscraper with half it's support beams missing or made out of balsa wood, sitting on a foundation of sand. And, they are still busy adding new floors to it (expansions) ignoring the fact that a house of cards is more sturdily built...
We'll fix it "later", we'll fix it "later is what we constantly get. Well, now it's later, and it's time to pay the piper. All this procrastination and lack of quality control has come home to roost. I hope the whole thing crashes beyond repair when they throw the expansion to live in less than a month (no doubt the bugs I listed above won't be fixed of course), it would serve `em right.

you have to remember, when 90 percent of your experienced customer base tells you that it (the cu) is a disaster when it was on the test servers, you should listen. But, oh no, there's a movie coming out to support it. This was without a doubt the biggest marketing mistake in the history of mmorpg's.
I would say a sure sign of problems is the new expansion being brought out next month, I never brought ROTW and would if the CU had been half of what was stated. In fact I cancelled and my account closes on the 8 th and I will miss my friends. But I won't miss the Jedi~Bounty Hunter wars that the whole game has turn'ed into (a farce)!
Only in name does it resemble Starwars,Jedi are weak and can no longer ROLEPLAY and are forced to group. Makes the whole game look like a saber light show, yes its nice to group and not get VIS.
But the point being that by making Jedi group for everything really destroys the look and feel of the time period!
Note that the expansion is more expensive now and there will be no disk's released and sign that subscriptions are down and a ploy to try and make more back and to save on production and disribution cost's.
Why let your retailer have 50% or what ever the mark up is, whenyou can do a digital download for the same price!

By upgrading the combat system; we have taken the game to a new level and added a shot of adrenaline to the game to make the experience more fun and Star Wars-centric.
[Except that now combat proceeds at a snail's pace and the only thing that's star wars about the game is the art. (Kudos to the art department by the way, your work is all first rate.)]
We have enhanced group play by adjusting profession roles that create inter-dependency between players and allow them to choose templates that more closely resonate with their play styles.
[And every template that's effective will have CM4000... bleah.]
We also are allowing role "stacking" -- which gives players the option to blend different types of professions to create "profession combos". Since you can have more than one profession, making character profession roles is even more diverse and interesting. In the end, this means that combat is much more exciting, tactical and a whole lot more fun
[Instead of removing stacking as everyone wanted, it's been institutionalized. What this really means is you can't play the game fully unless you have a 100% combat template. Marginalizing players that want to keep a crafting or entertaining profession is blatantly unfair. Oh, there's nothing tactical or fun about pressing buttons or starting at buttons to see when you can press them again.]
tear it apart at your leisure...
Funny stuff, we are waiting pub24 to have the regeneration fixed while it was working fine till 2 months ago. Whit Pub24 we will maybe discover that the +250 on the robe is broken, but hay!, pub 29 is going to fix it ... nerfing the +10 regeneration. Don't worry, pub34 will fix for sure the force regeneration breaking force speed ...
Do you see a loop?
Star Wars™ Galaxies is a living, breathingnow a gasping, choking, barely-alive entity and as such over time it will continue to evolvedecay to remain compelling bugged, broken and unbalanced beyond belief. By upgrading destroying the combat system and the crafting, healing and entertainer systems while we were at it; we have taken the game to a new level low and added a shot of adrenaline morphine (don't believe us?Look at the new interface and particle effects!)to the game to make the experience more fun and Star Wars-centric more like a poor imitation of our competitors with our own unique brand of incompetance blended in. We have enhanced forced people to group play by adjusting nerfing profession roles that create inter-dependency between players and allow them to choose templates that more closely resonate with their play styles the current FotM. We also are allowing role "stacking" -- which gives players the option to blend different types of professions to create "profession combos". Since you can have more than one profession, making character profession roles is even more diverse and interesting exactly the same as it was Pre-CU, only now with a poorly designed level modifier. In the end, this means that combat is much more exciting, tactical and a whole lot more fun slow, dull, repetitive, visually unappealing and unrealisticand wholly uninteresting in any way, shape or form.
