I think 'dangerously close' meant that a small number of people had checked off a huge list and all that was left to do was Master a few professions. I think the Devs gave a nudge with the holocrons just to give a few the final key, thevast majoritywere SOL, bereft of skills.

It's quite possible that the people who had a very, very broad experience of the game, and therefore likely to have the most items ticked off, wouldn't want to start messing around with holocrons and dumping all their skills. Maybe people with the broadest playstyle have grown a character they are reluctant to part with.

I seems to recall the devs giving us a date, sort of anyway. About 3 to 4 weeks ago I read a post or interview from a dev (think it was that 3po dude) that said they expected it between 2-3 weeks. We've since passed that date so to me its pretty obvious that sony is trying to string us along. Id be interested to see a chart with last months subscribers to present day. They have to be losing members at this point.

Personally I think the wording "Dangerously Close" shows the Dev mindset toward Jedi. The conotation to the word Dangerously is a strong negative. It would seem to me that the Devs are so ANTI Jedi (as can be seen plainly by so many things they have said), that anyone being close is considered Dangerous to the Dev's little anti-Jedi campaign they are on. There are probably doazens of players one or two "mystery" steps away from unlocking it their slots - but will never know that the step(s) are.

Pre-Flame:No I am not a disgruntled Jedi scrambler - dont care about opening it myself. I just feel the Devs made a drastic logistics error by making it nigh impossible to even attempt to play the profession. Basically cut off their nose to spite their face. One of the most attractive concepts of the SW Universe is Jedi, yet the Dev's will not allow anyone to be one. Go figure. The rest of the content is mildly amusing - but not much different than any other MMORPG out there.

Maybe they were dangerously close to implenting the FS-slot?!

I IMO believe that the holocrons were thrown out to us so that they could buy more time in perfecting the Jedi code, sure there might have been people dangerously close (dc) to FSCS but they are still working the bugs out and didn't want the DC person quiting because Jedi sucked....so mr X was close to Jedi, now he's far away because he unlearned the master Dancer he was working on to become a master CH......I think this gave the devs like a month or two to fix jedi

I think you are correct, There are a few of use still going without a sleeping holocron, and at that we are haveing to master superL33t professions some of which we have already mastered.

I saw a great idea about a monthly updated "Miticlorian" count meter showing your monthly progress towards unlocking it.

If indeed the system is: list of100 goals, complete 60% or more and bing. That would be terrific, so people wouldnt know exactly what they had done to help unlock the slot.

But without knowing HOW dangerously close, people are going nuts - and rightly so.

If there was no Exp Meter and no idea how much xp you needed to complete a skill box, imagine how frustrating the Investigation Line for Bounty Hunters would be, and with that - you at least know you are GETTING xp.

I firmly believe that:

1. The person or persons who were "dangerously" close have cancelled in the meantime

2. One or more of the goals needed for unlocking the slot is bugged and the devs will realize this around january 2005 (+/- one year)

I think I agree. Would anyone be shocked that the Jedi code is buggy? Let's see ifa Jedi pops up after the next big patch in that case.

Last i read they where checking the FS status a couple times a day cause someone was close. The problem is peeps who started from day 1 are getting burnt out and quiting the game. So now they have to check the next closest person etc. etc. We're probably back to another month now

lol it would be funny if one of the losers who skips out on SWG for final fantasy is one of the 'dangerously close' people.
