Well although I appreciate your enthusiasm the game has gotten worse and the dozens of in game vets and rl friends who have left have done so because the game has definitely gotten worse. It has been dumbed down, made relatively risk free (except for Jedi), and has lost most if not all interdependencies. I have canceled my accounts and have after 2 plus years no intention of coming back. If you were around when groups were huge, hunting parties were really needed, camps were a necessity and walking/running was the only mode of travel you would have a better understanding of the scope of the changes. I remember planets with no player cities, merchants that actually took pride in their products and the challege of finding and harvesting quality resources. The game has changed and although some real vets left due to boredom most that I know have left due to the poor and declining quality of the game.

Everyone always complains about the good old days :S There wern't any good old days? Just you were new to the game and everything seemed soo amazing!

Havn't you ever noticed that every mmorpg has some people on it saying it got ruined and they mis the good old days!

The problem is people get confused with the good old days with the days when they first started!

Wrong.

Everyone who has left because for one reason or another the game was ruined for them. If it was not they would not be bored.

I actually came back because of the CU. And it was good for a while, but then the Jedi BOOM was created by the Devs with Dbl XP and respecs and Spin Groups where you can go from Padawan to Fully Templated in 2-3 weeks.

That is what has ruined the game for me this time. Has nothing to do with boredom.

I know many people that complained about stuff in the past, but all too late, they realized just how good they had it.

Also, I myself was upset with game balance Pre-CU from time to time, but NEVER was I just plain BORED.

And don't even get me started on the total imbalance the CU has "created", NOT "fixed".

Let's face it, this game was "unique" in the long long list of MMO titles out there, now it's just a sad clone of everything else available, and I can't for the life of me understant how the Execs at SOE ever thought this would be "good" for the game.

It's just been like a rock rolling downhill ever since the CU, and patch 24 was was a landslide.

I believe the decision to "standardize" SWG was to simplify theSoE developer's lifeand to intoduce the more profitable process of introducing "expansion" packs. SoE is all about the money and much of the uniqueness that SWG has/had is what is at odds with the current progression/digression toward this homogenized format. Either way it is a shadow of what it was as an extention of the Star Wars Galaxy.

Veterans are leaving because they are turning our game into EQ2. Hell if I am gonna play EQ I might as well play the one that works. SWG is continually broken more with each patch. They add in changes like SquadLeader (that yes needed a fix) that are totally unbalanced in reguards to the GCW. They fail to test anything very well and just dump unfinished, bugged patches with abandon. They are by far the worst dev team in the MMORG market today...hands down.

The CU was and is a dumbing down and I would call straight theft of another games combat mechanics. This is EQ not SWG now days. Lack of content is a joke, there is no content. Their new changes to combat are lacking in logic. The bugs that have plagued classes for almost 2 yrs are still there. Loot tables are a complete joke. If you want loot you must be a BH. But when you find said loots dont be surprised that the mods are not even in the game today..... All in all they cant find their collective @$$es with both hands. Pearls/FRS/LS Speed bugs ect... are just some of the problems that have been ingnored for 7 months now and these are just Jedi ones, yet they can still find the time to put out expansions..What a crock.

Thats why veterans leave...

I have left over the changes, not due to boredom. The debuff changes (snare in particular) show the utter contempt that the Devs have for melee classes. One shot kills with SL buffs show the "new and exciting" combat that we can expect with BHs getting the first blow, bugs like medical droid healing while incappped/repairing with bacta spray, profession changes such as Jedi being inferior in pretty much every category....well, you can get an idea why I'm finally finished with SWG.

I'd like to think that things will turn around, but I've been waiting since the CURB for that. Things swung so drastically that I felt certain that they had to readjust. So far, things have only gone from bad to worse.

I continue to check the forums since I stupidly pre-paid through the end of July, but I'm getting less and less hope that things will return to sanity.

So NO. The vets aren't leaving due to boredom. They are leaving because of one borked patch after another.

They and you ahve just played for too long and that "NEW" feeling has gone!

I'm happier than ever ont his game tbh, grouping has brought bk teamwork

It does if you end up on the wrong end of the "I win" button. If you happen to be a melee character these "new" changes really hurt. A lot of people say, "Go rifleman then". Well, as someone who spent 2 years unlocking and finishing a Jedi template that isn't sound advice. I'd rather switch my payment options to "none".

I haven't played on either of my accounts in over a month because I've been dealing with the final stage of my new house and preparing to move. I've been eagerly waiting for the Trials to check out some new content. But really I haven't finished the content in RoTW so I would much prefered the devs to focus on balancing combat (that was what the CU was about right?) than making new expansions.

I am canceling my second account. There is little movement towards some type of resolution on the combat balance issue. I will continue to keep my Jedi and his alt. But I think I am going to try out WoW. The lack of balance in combat is whats turning me off not getting bored or anything else.

Clarification, not the lack of profession-to-profession balance, as in tank versus mezzer. What the dim bulbs at SOE keep tweeking for the trees from the forest.

The issue that's lacking is a "balanced combat experience" - for all professions as a whole, in battlegrounds. The game doesn't yet exist where we can take our specialties onto the playing field and work in a multiplayer mix of professions whose roles compliment each other in Star Wars combat (5v5 or more, for example.)

------------------------
After taking a new toon thru Legacy to level 64, and another CL80 to CL90, I've concluded that this game is bereft of value, and no MMORPG can survive so many role and economic devestations.

its called copy and paste programming....you are seeing what all the fuss was about when soe decided to make the programming easy as copy from eq2, put it to swg skins and play...that really explains elemental damage. that means you can take parts of one proffesion and merge it with parts of another proffesion. thats why the big exploiting of droids is going on, it got merged with creatures and bacta will heal creatures and now droids....and droids can be rezzed. the biggest problem with this copy and paste programing..it makes quality control lazy. it means that all the bugs you create by contradicting previous rules are wiped out and overwritten by the pasted code. this means faster reproduction of code, but also means that quality control doensnt exist and creates the bug before anyone can fix it because the bug is created instantly. and then months later soe worries about fixing it.
