i c force armor a better version of drain force,
i'm taking my temp master lightsaber (common sense really)
4/0/0/0 defender (got to have melee defence)
4/0/0/0 enhancer (force run is a must)
0/0/4/0 powers (force weaken and intimidate rule, this is a better version of force armor)
4/0/0/4 healer (if they do happen to lower my heath after getting past melee defence, inbtimidated and some nice foods ill just heal up)
wouldn't say its the best temp as u end up with about 600 force less than other jedi.
Well you can run thats for sure, if you like to run, but a Jedi with force drain on you and your dead, more so if they keep up with you, you got no way to regen force fast enough, you will end up running because you have no force left
Elsewhere its been said 500 FC for Intimi 2, which is a lot of force to waste if it doesnt stick a few times, and again no way to regen your toast. As far as defender goes that 50 or so melee defense is not worth the skill points tbh.
I have a friend who has force armor, and he stands up well enough to anything, my original question was how does FA2 compare to FA1, is it worth the extra points spent, or would i be better off using them in say force powers for KD or something else? maybe force drain?
Also if i end up sticking with FA1, then it means i lose some other things aswell like feedback and absorb, which could prove extremely usefull in fighting other Jedi with powers.
Anyone else with ideas or thoughts?
Yup i agree with some of the things u say but what things have a strong point have a weakness.
Defender gives 70 melee defence going from novice to 4/0/0/0 also the 4 +5's from the force grind giving a total of 90 melee defence, if u want more there is a total of +12 with bio clothing and skill attachments (102 melee defence minimum)
having that melee defence after the CU will prove itself with tka which can only go up to 70 or so.
force run yes i can do and yes so can other jedi which will prove to be a b*tch lol but i only intend on having it for gank squads.
drain force is also another chance i have to take but what can be done? can drain force be done when KD? i aint sure on that.
also feedback and absorb..... when was the last time you saw a jedi with the powers tree?
The whole purpose with the jedi is every template you go it will have a strong point against other jedi yet a weak point.
Ok, i see the melee defense our giving me here, but still not answering my question about force armor, how much better is force armor 2 over force armor 1, is it enough to warrent it or could i drop it and get something else like force drain maybe, or some more powers like intimidate.
My point being, melee defense at 100 or whatever, is good, no doubt about it, and with MLS you block most range things anyway, BUT, force armor 2 stops 45% dmg from "ALL" attacks if im not mistaken, thats a lot really, add to that Intimidate from the powers line and some sort of food to dodge or absorb, then add in the LS toughness which stacks onto the Armor and tbh i think someone else pointed out its into the mid 90's todo with protection.
So again, how much better is FA2 over FA1, could i drop it to FA1 and pick up force drain, would the trade off be worth it?
Not sure how it stacks with defender, but it takes about 1 force for every 10 damage taken. Aslo, dimishing returns with defender. +40 innate armor with improved.

My understanding was that it cost about 1 force for every 10 damage absorbed. And I am curious to know if you assume the force cost of ALL damage absorbed, or just the portion of the damage absorbed by the Force Armor, as in RDX1's "FOTM" template. Also, the one I was considering, which I am sure is not a surprise.

Not sure how much force power it really takes, though when I asked someone else they say that is FA takes 100 points your force cost would be a 6th or 8th of that, so like 20 or 40 points of force power. Also, it seems the ammount of damage it absorbs makes it seem more like another 40% reduction after inate armor, or adds 60 inate on top of what you can take.
Not sure the accual values, when I look at the buff screen it doesn't say. I do know that at def 4442 (54 inate) a lvl 82 dewback usually hits me for 144, and after adding I-aura, FA-1 from enhancer x2xx and steak, I lowered my damged to 32. Makes me wonder how much I can nullify at master def and enhancer x4xx I-aura and steak. Still missing 75 more points of melee def, 16 points of inate armor and the power of improved-force armor.
I'd love it if someone could give me some facts on this subject, thanks in advance.
Is it just that you have to call for a nerf, complain about Bh's or give people an opportunity to share stories of their 1337ness in order to get responses to a thread, or is it just that no one knows?
/tease I'm just being silly, I only intended about 40% of the snottiness that came through in the above comment. Please don't flame me.

Sorry, that's what I meant. Asborbed.
As I am not the template posted, I can't comment on the defender + FA force cost. I'm MLS/ME/4400h
Found this in the old core's sticy.
Innate Jedi Armor and Force Armor
As I mentioned above, Improved Force Armor will now give +40 Innate Jedi Armor (IJA) and its cost from damage absorbed is getting significantly reduced.
For those that don't understand how that will work let me illustrate it a little more clearly...
Damage Reduction Percentage = 60 * (IJA/100) + { [ (100 - IJA) / 100 ] * (IJA/2) }
Improved Force Armor = +40 Innate Jedi Armor, which translates to a 36.0% damage reduction.
The following is how this will work out in several template scenarios:
skills = base IJA = base damage reduction, +IJA from improved Force Armor = total damage reduction (+increase difference)
* Initiate = 20 IJA = 20.0%, +40 = 60 IJA = 48.0% (+28.0%)
* Def:0000 = 30 IJA = 28.5%, +40 = 70 IJA = 52.5% (+24.0%)
* Def:40xx = 42 IJA = 37.4%, +40 = 82 IJA = 56.6% (+19.2%)
* Def:44xx = 54 IJA = 44.8%, +40 = 94 IJA = 59.2% (+14.4%)
* Def:MSTR = 70 IJA = 52.5%, +40 = 100 IJA = 60.0% (+7.5%)
Note that the reason why Master Defender with Improved Force Armor adds up to 100 Innate Jedi Armor is due to the formula capping at 60% damage reduction.
It seems that the cost for Force Armor will be base on a point-for-point calculation based on the overall damage received (not the amount absorbed by Force Armor). For example, currently it seems to be somewhere around 35 Force cost for every 1000 total damage received

here is an idea of how it works master defender with FA2 up takes 120 damage from a 1137 damage shot....and it costs him somewhere between 5-10 force
I know that this is slightly off the original post. But is there a post where Force Armor is explained. The Search funtion is so messed up, and I have been unable to locate a nice write up on it. I'd like to see final numbers on damage taken and force cost, formulas don't do much for me. But I'd take whatever anyone can throw at me and work with it.
a few things about it....
Its great in PVE..
Its great against non Jedi/swordsman
But If the jedi/swordsman Uses armorbreak on you, it becomes usseless
