I did not really try to turn this into a "Light vs Dark" side debate.

Iwas trying to add a few cents into possibly adding a different slant to the BH hunting Jedi debate. Tis all...Did not mean to ruffle the feathers of the evil ones.

The bottom line is the Jedi content is lacking and something needs to be done to inject some life in it.

As for Episode One, I have no comment, that of all was my least favorite one..

cheers!

I agree with you...the content is lacking. But just because some of use swing a saber doesn't mean that we're "Jedi"

Sorry charlie. Any Force Sensitive, other than the limited Emperor's Hand agents in the EU(e.g. Mara), are to be wiped out. Now if you go strictly by canon (EU isn't canon), ANY force sensitive user is killed as soon as they are identified.

So technically speaking, as the title in the BH listing goes: "The Empire has no need of Jedi, regardless of their political affiliation."

Did you know
SOE has changed this game 3 times
Jedi went from being an Icon to a normal profession
The combat system is being reduced to Enemy Territory online

yeah the game doesnt follow the timeline what so ever. Look at the new expansion coming out its mostly about Episode 3 with some KOTOR characters in there. I think the plan is to not have one specific timeline but an all encompassing Star Wars Experience. If Jedi where ever allowed to destroy enemies to the order for the light side or seek out revenge for the dark side, Bounty Hunters would cry more than they do already. They would hate having the tables turned on them and you would see the biggest whine in SWG history for Jedi to be nerfed further. Since the devs seem to be favoring bounty hunter players currently that would spell disaster for the Jedi so its probably better to just let things be how they are or just ask toend the whole bh vs jedi mini game.

Too often players and the devs have a mindset that professions should be balanced with 1 on 1 pvp in mind. This mindset is ruining the game. The benchmark for balance should be determined by the role a profession plays in a group setting. As long as the current mindset continues we will never see uniqueness among the professions, nor will we ever see individuality within a given profession. We will never see the SWG universe expanded as the focus will only ever be balance pass after balance pass after balance pass.

Ah...that would be the sticking point. Seeing as Iam singing to the wrong audience I will add this. For those that WANT to RP a Jedi and an Order they form a new PA with a slight difference. They would be able to assign bounties on BH's that can be considered a threat to "their Order"

Like I said before I am not a Game Dev and would not really know how to implement it. But this game has strayed so far from its original stated goal/timeline it really would not matter that much anymore.

The old order was corrupt and useless. They plotted and schemed to take control of the Senate for their own ambitious goals. They were a menace to peace and the galaxy.

Right, but it did not stop Luke from going after Jaba to rescue Han. The Emperor did not have a hand in it. He cant stop ALL usage of the force in his Empire and sending out bounty hunters is all he can do at the moment, The war does not stop just because the Emperor does not know about at the time.

If this game went sby canon then yea, I could understand your, but it does'nt. So lets try to add some additional content to keep paying customers.

OH NO! I sound like an SOE employee!

Gotta LOVE the diehards that think that becasue its that way in the movies thats the way its gotta be.

If the timeline is to be believed there is no Jedi Order.

And Han was not frozen in carbonite....he and Chewie are handing out missions.
Bottom line is this game only loosely follows the timeline. There were not any Wookie Imps either. So why cant the "New Jedi Order" take matters into their own hands....for their own survival.
Add a new style of PA that allows the formation of an "Order"
If this game follwed the timeline I would eat my hat

Han wasn't frozen in carbonite until the end of ESB. SWG takes place (or was intended to take place) just before ESB, ie right after the battle of Yavin but just before the battle of Hoth. When the Galactic Empire was at its peak.

The only things really off with the setting are the abundance of Rebels and Jedi. Both would have existed in the numbers we see but they would not have been as visible. Mainly because there would have been a consequence to being an overt Rebel/Jedi/Criminal in a public place like Theed or Bestine.

I would have played a rebel if it was implemented so I could feel like one (hunted, in hiding, hit and run etc), something like rebel visibility (only obtained by committing anti-imperial acts in front of npc's that you don't kill) that sets a timer and brings in Imperial Forces. That way if you want to take down a ST squad then you need to do it quickly and move on before reinforcements come and what not. Imperial=powerful, Rebel=intelligent, that'd be fun

Instead I'm just an Imperial (Dark Jedi Padawan) fighting for the freedom of the galaxy against a tyrannically overt and visibly hostile rebel alliance.

Ok, simply put, it makes no sense for jedi to hunt BH, PERIOD!

The only time this has even come close to this is when Obi-Wan tracked down Jango fett by order of the council. First off, jango was not a bounty, there for cannot be BOUNTY hunted. Obi-Wan was working more as a Private investigator then a bounty hunter. He was asked to aprehend jango because of crimes, therefor more like a police officer, not a rouge vigilante working for money(bounty hunter).

Jedi are being hunted the galaxy over because the empire wants them DEAD. The Emperor wants all jedi dead because they may be a threat to his reign of terror. Jedi are supposed to be a difficult profession to be. Bh are the scourge that challenge jedi on a daily basis.

My only question on this is why the heck are jedi whining about it on a daily basis? All jedi knew when they became jedi that if they became visible, they would be on the terminals, and if they are on teh terminals they WILL be hunted. If a jedi didn't know this before becoming jedi, they obviously didn't think at all about it(as you can't see one page that doesn't discuss this very topic multiple times on the jedi forums.)

obi wan was working as a hired thug out to stop anyone who had a difference of opinion with the council. he was out to kill jango who had done nothing wrong. Senator Palpatine was working to remove a malovelent evil from the galaxy which was the old republic and restore peace and order to the galaxy so that all may live in freedom without fear of "Jedi Knights" coming in the middle of the night to steal children from their warm loving homes and turn them into murderous assassins.

Yes, some whine, others try to suggest new ways to improve the game content for thier chosen prefession. Is that wrong? is that whining? I think not I pay the monthly fee just like everyone else and should be allowed to speak up from time to time.

And why cant the Jedi Orders hunt BH's? Are they not allowed to want them dead? they are a thorn in thier sides. Let them take up arms against thier enemies!
