I totally agree with JediJamie![]()
besides i feel naked w/o having access to all the skills that saber trees offer. More than that I like having many specials use in hard times. Just try to choose a template where you think you'll feel the "fun" of this game.

with no decent crystal /pearls, si it even worth getting MLS? I was told to go with sabers because Powers doesnt do enough damage. Well, if i craft a saber with 240 base damage(average), if i add 4 crystals/ pearls with an average damage of 70, I will still only get to 520 max damage. Is that enough? right now, i can hit with lightening up 1039/64+, my saber is crap, but still... I cant come near my lgihtening damage with my saber.
I want to do quests, kill high end Mobs, and defend myself in PvP (not worrie dabout domianting everyone)
What shoudl I do: MPowers with a little saber..or just go MLS and hope for some rare tunes and/or them to fix the drops?

lots of templates can do this, also without saber

It is all preference, but in my opinion the Master box does not have enough to offer. I would definitely go Master to craft your saber then mmae a decision on whether or not Master is worth keeping from there. I picked up Master to craft the best saber possible and then dropped it. I hope this will help you out.

IMO Master sabers are better suited for older Jedi with High-end sabers.
Best is to play around with both templates if you have the time to grind.

if your a roleplayer than you don't need it, if you ever want to fight in duel or pvp it is a must. anyone who says otherwise is already a roleplayer.

armor break= 65% armor reduction
the master box gives +45 speed. (like +20 general melee speed, and +25 saber type speed) which is like having two improved force speeds going.
You have all the improved hits as well.
I just had a bh encounter, who had no ab resist armor, so here's the breakdown on the damn I had. (only 515 max dam saber as well)
Armor break (like 200 dam or so)
Improved head hit (650 damage)
Improved Leg hit (650 damage)
Knockdown (like 100 dam?)
Improved power attack (800 some damage)
Rinse repeat... fight didn't last long, and that's with a crap/decent saber. None of those were master moves, but I benefited from the speed, as he was constantly healing, his mind went down to crap. My worst enemy is my FC, of 36.. I only get one shot then I gotta run and cloak, as I can't go on for more than about 10 minutes with channeling during the fight.
Another note on the speed, mcm's debuff takes like..what is it.. -40 to your speed? So MLS just negated that, then I have improved force speed, which netted me another +20, so it helps the mcm encounters too. (compared to non mls users)

I just got it back a few weeks ago. I'm glad I did. Before BH fights took insamely long, now they last maybe 30 seconds. Although I am one of those Pre-cu with a good saber, the speed dif between MLS/non- master plus the advantage of having leghit/bodyhit/headhit is great. Only use dervish in PvE grinding situations and very rarely use power strike in any situation as the wind up time makes it useless.

I think MLS is great for offense if:
*pearl drops are fixed
*saber speed is fixed
*accuracy vs defense is fixed
