i have seen this post many many times... as i read it i get ideas for SOE policy that maybe they could have corrospondents in these forums that relay information about what the general population would like and then the development team could make some of these ideas come to fruition.

then reallity sets in and i see we DO have corrospondents and they are supposed to gather the information to give to the development team.. then report to us with the devs plans for the game as well as other aspirations. but sadly the corrospondents wait untill we find out about information to actually do any investigating and then they come back to us with information that anyone could get in the beta testing or test center. they do not get any future ideas or any kind of plan for the game from the dev team on ANY issue that is mentioned...

maybe SOE should get some of the player base in their payroll people that have a knowledge of programing and a passion for Star Wars.

Several key members "left" the SWG team about the time CU Alpha started (Vass, JustG, Tyrant...) and such paradigm shifts in a team if not managed effectively can lead to the appearance of a ship with no-one at the helm.

Yeah, okay, that's possible. It's also just as possible that they couldn't think of any other way to "balance" Jedi.

Did you know
SOE has changed this game 3 times
Jedi went from being an Icon to a normal profession
The combat system is being reduced to Enemy Territory online

If we are being weakened to make way for the FRS, then BH Missions should be turned off until we have the ability to advance in the FRS to a level where we stand a better chance of beating them.

Well generally speaking I would agree that something like this (the OP's idea) *ought* to happen. Whether SOE is smart enough to make it happen remains to be seen - and I don't think anyone is going to get their hopes up that they could actually get it right.

The vast majority of players who come to the game want to be Jedi, it is one of the biggest draws and about the only thing that can keep people grinding once they level up to CL80.

You'd think it *would* make sense to try to prolong the lifespan of the game by making it so that the bulk of people who reach Jedi will spend a long time as padawans, then after some time (6 months or more) reach Knight and then after some more time maybe become Guardians or Masters.

Any Jedi rank higher than padawan would have to be removed from the GCW or a lot of players would start screaming for nerfs before anyone even made Jedi Master.

So you could still make it possible to reach a high enough level as a Jedi to almost rival the earliest incarnation of Jedi in the game, just one that couldn't be used to attack other non-Jedi players unless attacked first. I would like to think you could still have a lot of fun with that, tho maybe some folks wouldn't like the idea much.

If something like this does not happen then you will end up with a very frustrating situation. Many players will give up and quit - yet the overall Jedi population might not decline significantly if those Jedi accounts end up in the hands of other players. But there wouldn't be much to do for the Jedi players except perhaps for new expansions, and eventually a great sense of boredom will ensue among long-time players.

Jedi as was didn't work - at least not from the perspective of a game designer looking at the long term viability of SWG.
Their solution is simple. Weaken current Jedi Padawans then re-activate the "on-top" system that was the FRS enabling Jedi Padawans to make noticable advances in power from Knight to Master.
This is my theory to explain the current torrent of balancing "nerfs" to which we have been subjected (I dislike the "n" word, it's quite reactionary you know).
I subscribe to the theory that the new FRS will be implemented when the current Padawan population has a level of power roughly equivalent to a normal full Elite templated character. Once this is achieved the power vacuum at the upper end can begin to fill. But this begs the question: how do they avoid having powerful Jedi Kinghts running about ruining the GCW? The answer is that in order to progress beyond a certain point in the FRS, the Knight must eschew such mundane concerns as the GCW and concentrate ona "higher battle" that is waged between Light and Dark. This will proabably be PvP AND PvE.
Once a part of the process the only way the Jedi can return to the GCW is by surrendering rank (and power) to such a point that it becomes allowable for that Jedi to interact at the level of combat with the regular professions.
The members of the FRS who chose the Light/Dark faction path are still open to BH attack, but one would imagine that mr BH while being able to hunt Padawans freely and with at least a 50:50 chance of winning, will need to bring his Squad Leader and BH buddies if he's going to hunt "big game" like a Jedi Guardian or Jedi Master. Much like we now need teams to take down Elite Chevron mobs.
Ok, this is my theory - but until we hear something from the Dev's it's one I would like to be the case.

Sorry too much of a conspiracy theory for me. Was made weak because they figured if you can't handle the power and play in the manner they menat you to play with, by doing things like not being seen as much, wearing/equiping your robes/saber in public, dueling in NPC cities, etc. You apparently can't handle the power associated with the profession. Thus...ordinary Jedi.

You cant possibly beleive this. They have zero vision for this game. The amount of vision they do have is all tunnel vision.

The version of the FRS they sent to Lucas was shot down thats why there is no FRS.They have to start over.

I wish people would stop with the theorys and quit blowing smoke up other peoples keisters.

Face the facts jedi is what jedi is and it will not be what it was in the pre 9 days. What we have now is a complete joke but I deal with the best I can and when I grow tired of waiting I will quit.
