Thread: Well Folks, I am done with Jedi For the Moment

To try to steer the thread a little bit, its not the recent nerfs that really gall me. It's the concept of doing things without any feedback from the base.

Who complained about Jedi using AI in PvE? OMG, you mean that someone who ground 39 million jedi xp gets to do that? WOW.

And quite frankly I don't care about playbalance nerfs, as long as FIXES come with it.

Fixes like Healing, and Powers, and LS speed.

But you don't see them do you?

No FRS, No GCW, No Improvements period. THAT is why I am shelving. Because they just have lost focus on the class and the game in general quite frankly.

I agree with the rest of the post, but I wanted to QFE this line, as it say alot about how I feel.

Reason: The lack of multiplayer pve content and Star Wars feel.
For 3 years I have tried to find excuses to stay in game but only the expansions offered me what I subscribed for in the first place: A multiplayer Star Wars pve experience with friends around the globe. I found friends but with almost no addition of pve content they dropped out one by one. Now it's my turn.

I kinda wonder this as well.

It's definitely not the Defender's themselves that takes the blow, but everybody they tank for.

I would like to know, why they did this, instead of making Taunt, Improved Taunt, Area Taunt and Dominate Mind work.

It's very sad to see how SOE and LA have treated SWG. I include Lucas Arts in this mess as well since almost everything that SOE wants to do has to go through LA first before it's even coded.

As a whole almost every profession has gone through the wringer. The Jedi profession is not the exception, but it is the most played around with. As time goes on I can sorta see where the Dev's are taking us, but then another round of nerfs hit and I and scratching my head again. Basically the Dev's are preparing for another expansion with the emphasis on the PvE portion (much like ToOW). Hopefully the next expansion will be developed over the full year and have really in depth content that will take a full guilds and full spectrum of professionsparticipation to succeed in.

Barring that the FRS is more and more becoming a pipe dream. We hear of how recently the FRS 2.0 was submitted to LA and rejected. That means the Dev's need to go back to the drawing board and significantly alter or totally come up with a new FRS 3.0 concept. Which in turn means concept development time, laying it out and then re-submitting it to LA for approval... a process that can/will take up to another 2-3 months. After that, if it is approved, then it needs to be coded, internally tested and then beta'd which means another 2-3 months on top of all that. My best guess is that we won't have another FRS for at least 4-6 months and that's if the next FRS 3.0 concept is accepted. Worst case is that LA rejects the next FRS and we could be looking at next Oct-Nov till the next FRS is even close to being ready for release.

So if the Dev's were to at least let us know these things, I might be more inclined to be forgiving, but they are not. As a business man I have deadlines and customers to keep happy. Of course I don't have 250,000 customers to keep happy, but I do have a couple thousand and providing good customer service is the only way we keep ourselves in business. Communication is the only way this happiness can be achieved and SOE/LA have failed.

Communicate to us and you'll have a much happier client base.

Anyways, GL out there Uninformed. I enjoyed reading your posts and I hope to see more in the future if you are still around.

also, to be honest on both sides of the picture Lucas Arts created the MEGA Jedi universe. Not SOE. SOE wanted to keep the Jedi low. Lucas Arts is in it for pure profit so they create the idea where ANYONE can be a Jedi in a mmorpg. And it came about the same time as KOTOR 2.

Im not defending SOE either. They've done some pretty bad things here. Most of all, the severe lack of communication. I guess they are too famous to talk to us.

Wow Jhahadir nice post. Was FRS 2.0 really rejected? What's the scoop on that?

I don't agree with one thing. The alpha profession with 3 strikes out, aka permadeath would work like a charm. Saber TEF, permadeath / skill loss for 3 deaths and holo grinding 32 professions would keep Jedi as rare as IDs. 80% my friends gave up either hologrinding or levelling Jedi back in the day due to pressure.

But SOE knew very well they can't keep up with wow and eq2 content. Well, tbh, I can't keep up with new dungeons / quests wow adds with every patch. So, they sold the game to Jedi.

I am not playing SWG for 3 months now, so welcome on board.

Myself, I'm just hanging around because another game hasn't been able to really grab my eye. I've been here since EA announced it was closing E&B, and so far nothing has been able to grab my attention.

When I came here, I loved the game forall it'splayer created content; the cities, the economy, crafted gear, the GCW, rare & wonderful Jedi.... Now the cirties are ghost towns, the economy is in a state of run-away inflation, crafted gear is all about the loot and at the upper end really has no variation, and the GCW is overrun with Jedi that have little or nothing else to really do. The CU did little more than change Dot Wars into Heal Wars, trade one form of stacking for another, and guarentee that playerswho mixxed combat skills with crafting/entertainment would not be able to effectivly compete in either. The CU also changed crafting into something that no one wanted or asked for. It's more noob friendly than it was, but how many new players do we really have seeking to craft at an elite level?

I'm seriously hoping that SOE has a method to their madness with these Jedi fixes/nerfs. Not too long ago, every CH was about to leave the game thanks to the changes that were put in with small steps. Once we could see the entire re-vamp it made sense, but in it's parts it was one game breaking feature after another. A little communication would have gone a long way there. I'm hoping the changes to Jedi are the same as that was, and soon we'll see the whole picture. I'm also hoping that the Devs learn to talk to us. Something as simple as 'Wait till you see the whole picture, then you will understand. (Most of you anyway... Some are beyond reaching),' would do a lot to ease my frustrations.

Come Nov, there's a whole slew of new games opening up. If SOE borks ToOW/Pub24 and something else lookspretty good, I'll move on... If not, then I guess I'll hang around some more.

you put a lot of what I think into a nice tidy package. CU and everything since is crappage. I mostly play this to be Weaponsmith, but as you've pointed out it's a sad comparison to the old days. This used to bea game i looked forward to playing, to logging in, to try to get some of the hundreds of things wanted to do done. Now i toodle about abit and try to find something to do on my gimpaged Jedi, make some custom orders chat a bit. Game play is in a sad sad state. This latest round of nerfage/changes/no-fixes more garbage is the final straw though. Putting in my time til end of year while i shop about for something else. Which is saying a lot for an obsessive-compulsive Star Wars fanatic like myself.

Hard to believe one could take a grand game (economy/crafter/combats/jedi/GCW/loots/socialization) and turn it into this pale shadow. It's so mechanical and non-immersive, almost like playing Windows Solitaire.

Actually looking forward to delving into X3: The Reunion soon. Free-form space sim with trade/pirating/ship combat/armada/factories etc etc etc...infinite playability oi! fun

Heres what I think they are doing although I am probably wrong lol

Making Padawan exactly that, ie not that strong and dumb down the proffession to fall in-line with the fact that you are a Padawan and the grind is now easier.

Eventually impliment alonger harder grind to become a Knight or higher so you can become more powerful.

That's the word from the rumor mill. I really hope that it is wrong, but it's already been 5 months since the CU and we still have not heard any definate news from the Dev's. Add in a new expansion with bug and content fixes, the continued 're-balancing' of the CU and profession tweaking.... I'm afraid the FRS is further and further away.

It's funny though, after being a customer of SOE"s for 5 years I have read many posts when expansions come along with the theme 'don't jump the gun, wait for the expansion and things will be fixed'. Been there, read that, been disappointed with the final product. That doesn't mean that I won't keep playing the game (I'm a Star Wars fan) it just means I'm more and more jaded towards any expansion material that comes along. It usually means a good 2-3 months of fixes and the focus of attention while other long standing issues remain unchecked or fixed.

My feelings on the Jedi profession and the FRS is that the profession is going to be majorly overhauled one last time to fall in line with where they want to take the entire game and the higher levels of the Jedi profession. Good or bad, that's what I predict.

What i don't understand is why players don't expereince the nerf first before making decisions. As an example I read that a BH on TC snared a jedi , and the BH in question still ran slower than the Jedi with FR on. So the nerf is not as complete as it may seem.

They lowered the XP and changed it due to customer complaints. Why doesn't eveyrone relax a bit and see what happnes when it finally goes live.

My 2 cents.

Message Edited by TonieStark on 10-13-2005 10:03 AM

that was probably due to weapon hinderance/armour hinderance man, jedi dont have these restrictions thats why the jedi woulda went a little faster, regardless these are uneccesary changes to an already underpowered and broken proffesion
