Thread: I need smart people to help me test why we're going through Force so fast.
Well, I have to say that my last few outtings have shown me that something is screwy with either the force regen or there is some kind of bad connection between my cpu and the servers.
I noticed that because I channel a lot when grinding in groups, when my force bar is fully regened through channeling, about 2 - 3 seconds after my force bar goes to full, it jumps back down about 50 points or so and then slowly regens back to full. This even happens when my force bar is already full and I use channel.
Also, I noticed that channel is causing random action cost when I use it as well as replenishing a random amount of force. I can channel once and I lose 50% action and get +500ish force, I can channel twice and lose about 20% action and only gain 300ish force. Then I do it a third time and I get another +500ish force but with an action cost less than 50%.
So I can definitely say that something is messed up with channel...or at least I don't recall it costing random action before. Am I wrong? Did channel alwasy heal a random amount of force and use a random amount of action.
This happens frequently now, or I just notice it more.
The second issue is that like someone else said already, i can fight the exact same creature of the exact same level and using the exact same attacks. on one I would use minimal force and on the second, I may lose 1/3 of my force in the first 30 seconds.
I've also had an issue with krayts the other day where I was losing more force fighting a level 84, than I was fighting a level 86.
I ran completely out of force when I fought the level 84, but still have about 33% force left when fighting the level 86. I still have over 70% action and mind, neither dropped below 50% during the course of the whole fight with the level 86. But yet again with the level 84, I had to resort to suppressing the krayt for 24 secs and get out of range, kneel down and let my action and mind regen. After the suppression, I probably had like 1% force left.....but being low on action and mind, I couldn't channel.....I ended up having to run from a couple of CL84's and got help from a passing jedi on another one....but the CL86's, I was dropping them like flies.
Now I can understand if I was doing anything different, but I pretty much have a set routine that I open up with on every mob that I fight.
The last thing I noticed and I don't know if this is the way it's supposed to be or not....but I've decided to go master sabers (previously had 0404). I've trained 2434 now and I have a habit of writing down my force cost of new specials I gain when leveling up. For both leghit and bodyhit, the force cost is 37 for basic.....when I got both improved versions, the force cost is still 37 for both. I have docs showing the forcecost of headhit (basic and improved) from a couple months ago when I first got those and although I had a lower force cost saber, basic and improved had two different force cost (improved was higher). Well, since headhit has the exact same force cost as leghit and bodyhit, I'm thinking that basic headhit would probably be costing me 37 force also, but can't prove that without dropping 0400 sabers and train it again....not gonna happen..LOL
So my conclusion is that there is a /bug somewhere that was introduced with pub 22 that has all HAM screwed up somehow. Problem is that I don't see any possible way for the players to find and narrow it down.....the devs may have to trace this bug themselves.....but now I definitely believe their is a HAM and FC bug.

Good work man, I've started to notice the same thing when fighting mobs, almost like Force Cost is random.
As for Channel for a couple publishes I've noticed sometimes it adds 300 Force sometimes 400-500.
For as long as I can remember, channel has always been random. It was never a fixed amount of ham taken, and never a fixed amount of force given.
Pre CU, I would channel and it would usually take 250-300 points off each my ham, and give me anywhere from 200-1100 force. It was very random, and it still appears to be.

^there would be the proper place for discussion.

Ok, I kinda figured that may be the case. I haven't had channel for that long (about 2 months), but I never paid attention to how much it actually replenished.....I just went by the jedi faq that said 500 and it didn't say how much action/mind it cost. But still, that doesn't account for the fact that after my force is completely full and my action and mind is also, that a few seconds later, my force bar drops back down 50 points and slowly regens as if I used another special ability, but I know that's not true as It's happened when I was riding my swoop on a few occasions.
I'll log in shortly and take a good hard looking at the actual numbers and such.
I can't pinpoint it exactly, but doing exactly what i've done before, tanking a piket lair, normally i would burn up about 50% force, however there was a few times last night that i needed to channel whilst still tanking, as had burnt up the entire force pool.
It would seem that the force costs on the saber have increased (as well as was running out of action as well)

That thread has nothing to do with the issue of "disappearing" Force.
Which is what is happening to many many Jedi, if not all of us.
In addition, I've been watching the Force costs on my saber and it doesn't even seem like they've increased, but my Force bar is definitely going down. I'm watching it like a hawk now so we'll see what happens. Tomorrow I'll be able to summon up what few of my friends still play and hopefully create some controlled duel conditions in which to test.

Wrong.

exactly, that thread only discusses the cost of specials. all my specials cost the same no matter what. It's the same ole force cost i've always had, but sometimes force seems to drain even when your not even using any specials at all.

ok, but it will clearly prove the following:
SACs haven't changed and force is still disappearing from somewhere or not regenarating properly.
It's your pre-22 baseline I beleive.
compare pre-22 SACs with today. If same then run more tests.
So SACs are same and should have totaled x, but for some reason was reduced by y, difference = z , and z obviously being the problem or leak.

That is a good idea, I will give it a shot and let you know what I find, but the FC on my saber is not the same as Bac's so his equation will not work really. I'll have to take the two numbers and roughly average them out with my own costs.
Also like others have said, it seems we lose more Force than we should from a regular saber hit.
I wish we had a playable pre-Publish 23 version to test with, hehe.

It seems like the upkeep costs on toggleable specials have been increased (run, armor). And possibly initial costs for non-toggleable buffs as well (speed, aura). Untested yet, but that would explain what we see, fact that regens are more or less the same and that specials seem to have the same cost. Either that, or there is some serious bugs causing random force leaks.
Nope, aura still cost 150, speed 300, run 80..etc......toggle specials are unchanged.
