If this "starter kit" were to make Jedi a starting proffession 2 things would happen.....

Vet Jedi would leave the game....

and it would be the signal that SWG is nearing its end. Some may say it is already nearing its end but this would be SOE's last fable attempt to keep the game going. This buisness mentality where they develop content for "new" SWG players and disregard the input and ideasof players that have been with the game for a long time needs to stop. The last 2 expansions have rode the coat tails of the final Star Wars movie to attract new players. But the whole time their total number of subscriptions proably hasnt increased because of all the players who continue to quit the game.

I really feel like something is gonna give in this game soon. For better or worse. Either the announcement of SWG 2 or that lucasarts takes over the game... someting. This game has so much potential and could be bigger than WoW but we are left with 1 elite class that everyone is grinding toward... A GCW.. oh wait.. What GCW... broken professions... the list goes on and on. It will be interesting to see what the next expansion will be now that the StarWars movie hype is over. but I tell you what... if something doesnt change soon... like the chicago cubs in June... IM OUT!

As stated by a poster above. Alot will be told now that the "marketing" ploys are used up. The time for decisions to stay or go for me are fast approaching. We will see where they take the game now that they do not "have" to ride those films wake.

I for one believe it will be like EQ.....and will evolve into a SWG2 of sorts. MAybe the new "Starter kit" is for SWG2?

If it exists, and IF the Jedi are starter professions, then at the least we would, logically, if that is a SOE friendly term, be equal to all. I.E. the grind will be over per se, xp loss gone, maybe a fix to the archaic and stupid Tuning/Enhancing of a Saber so forth.

I am a long time Jedi. With the state of it now, I already FEEL as though we are a a starting profession. So we need the Benefits of all other starting professions. We will NEVER be Alpha ppl. That is what everyone should recognize now.

You guys are crazy , the SK wont make jedi a starting class . If that were the case , the village conversion rate would not of gone from 3 to 1 combat xp to 30 to 1 . Use your heads guys .. Its not gonna happen .

The rumour is probably by someone scouring ebay looking for cheap jedi ...

Well at the time the CU came out I thought that wold be the the point where this game reached a crossroad and we would find out what direction this game is going. But then the Episode 3 came out and SWG jumped on the bangwagon. Episode 3 is over SOE.... Ball is in your court SOE... yout move!

What I find disturbing is how many people are talking about wanting to know what is next rather talking about mustafar. I guess when it comes down to it SOE does not have the commitment to evolve this game into what it was invisioned when it was first released. Otherwise they would have done it already.

I am curious... How long was Everquest out before EQ II was announced???? Is there a SWG2 in the works or being talked about behind closed doors... well heres to having the next dev chat not filled with ToOW crap... maybe can focus on more important issues with this beta game.

i got a response for ya no jedi is not going to be made into a starting profession ever
why they hell would soe make it right off the bat when they get more money from you by doing the village and waiting the 6 months to unlock
think people think

its about money a starter kit will inculde easy access to the game not a jedi starting profession look up other starter kits to see and use the brain you where given.

I said many many months ago that with Jedi being nerfed so much over the past 6 months that soon Jedi would be a starter profession. Why? because 90% of the people who buy this game buy it to become a Jedi. What the devs have realized is that they can make Jedi a starter profession and then limit the number of "powerful" jedi through the FRS system. That is why the FRS system is taking so long. They need to make sure everything is correct and inplace so the starter kit and FRS can work together properly. The average Jedi is not all that more powerful than any other non-Jedi combat based templet. That is, (and this is the key part) if the people playing those templets know what they are doing. Jedi sells merchandise and makes companies money. To prove my point...how many people watched the movies for Jar Jar? In ep 4-6, there was alot more story involving non-Jedi. It was more about the struggle between good and evil. Its focus was on the GCW. Luke and Vader were a part of that struggle. NOT the struggle itself. Ep1-2 was all Jedi. Why? Because it was about the rise of a Sith Lord. Jedi and Sithhave becomeStar Wars. Without the 2 there would be no Star Wars...there would be no game.

The starter kit is nothing more than SWG:AED + JTL in a single boxed set for $19.99. Which (as the name implies) gets you STARTED in SWG. It claims to have a redesigned version of the first 30 levels, ok so the re-did the tutorial again.. woopty doo. Jedi is not mentioned once in any of the descriptions as a starting profession. It mentions "30 professions to choose from" and includes Bounty Hunter and ... the Ultimate Jedi!". People are reading that to mean Jedi will be a starting prof, from that logic all professions would be starting classes, since they are mentioned literally in the same sentence.

So, in exactly 20 days you'll have the product in hand. My prediction based on what they say in the description... It will be SWG(original) + JTL for around 20 bucks, they redesigned the new player tutorial (maybe that gets you to cl 30 or something) then you begin like evry other newbie out there. Jedi/BH will not be a starting prof. No way, no chance, no how.

Everything else is emotional speculation based on the usual forum BS.

No way that Jedi will become a starting profession.

Stringing players along for at LEAST 6 months before they can get Jedi is too brilliant of a marketing maneuver.

That's 6 months of subscription fees, the up front cost of the software, and any additional time from the person slacking off on grinding or taking more time levelling up their first professions.

No way SOE or Lucas Arts would give up that cash cow and just say, "You paid us some cash for the software, start up with a Jedi!" It'd be stupidity from a financial standpoint.

Players want to learn the game and "become" a Jedi, not just have an insta-Jedi. Those that want insta-Jedi have eBay, end of story.

It's almost "insta- jedi" now Gone are the days of learning the game and becoming a jedi. Now it's master a profession get a few badges and away we go.

And just a side note on why some veteran jedi are pissed. We used to have xp loss to everything, so the most of us had -xp, so when the devs took xp loss out (except for Bh deaths) they leftus with millionsin-xp to grind out. I have nothing against most new jedi, but the continual slap in the face that us vets take ( from the devs) while the game caters to new players needs to stop .
