Thread: Jedi: From a reward to entitlement

Dunno how many times this needs to be said for it to sink into some people's heads, but the reason is because ...
ITS NOTHING SPECIAL ANYMORE! All professions, ALL OF THEM, are gone, even the ones that have similarly named titles in the new system. The Jedi/BH/Smuggler/Commando/Etc isn't really comparable to the new system. Your Jedi, my Jedi, the preCU2/CU1/Pub9 Jedi, they are all GONE. You may have had to hologrind or do the village to "deserve" one of those old Jedi characters, but these new ones, everyone is worthy of them.
We're getting our blue glowies, fancy sabers, and whatnot. I'd be happy to see vets of those broken professions that have helped SOE pay the bills for 2+ years get something in acknowledgement for the royal hosing they've received.
Of course, the same could be said for rangers... and squad leaders... and droid engineers...
Were there any professions in this game that actually worked?

I earned my Jedi. Many others earned their Jedi. Handing out Jedi like halloween candy is a serious mistake.
Dissapointed.
At this point does it really even matter. Most everyone is a jedi anyway.

I might be misunderstanding, but I don't think that the point of the smugglers, commandos, and CH discussion wasn't that they should be entitled to respec to Jedi as a reward. It's that they deserve something special of their own as reward for taking it up the rear by SOE for so long.

well they all get elder rewards, or so says the FAQ, but i could be blind in my reading that. i mean hell they didnt' exactly say what they were getting, so we won't know until we all bend over and spread our asschecks on the 15th. jedi got the lovelyest slap in face (not nearly as hard as the classes that got deleted), ooh.. a new hilt..(we've been asking for hilts for 2 years) ohhh..a unique color crystal (probably be one of the many color crystals they never released) ohh a robe! the same f'ing robe that you would have gotten, if the FRS still lived (biggest slap by far). Blue glowy..its just a character effect, nothing more, nothing less.
Everyone gets there own reward, they just had to say exactly what ours was. at least thats my understanding of it. i think everyone else gets like buffs or something, i'm not sure if those apply to jedi character
i like how msnil always defends the ghost group, the one that doesnt exist.
example, so if a person grinds jedi from level 1, they dont want jedi.
who the hell is gonna grind jedifrom evel 1?![]()
how does being a commando or smuggler or bh, equate to being a jedi?
First off..KUDOs to those who had the time to grind out their jedi! I too have always wanted to play one. I understand the lightsaber lust that many players feel but simply do not have that much time to devote to it (I got maybe 4 or 5 boxes of the villiage done).
That being said, I belive that SOE made a fundimental flaw in making jedi an uber alpha class that is tedious and too time consuming for many to obtain. Overpopulation of jedi has always been a problem sense the start of the villiage for the simple reason that once you max out whater template you want (in about 2 or 3 weeks), there is nothing else to do with your xp exept grind out a jedi. Given enough time the vast majority of people with become jedi under the current system. Hologrinding was fundamentaly unfair becuase it forced people to play proffessions they had no desire to play.

In the new system they should be all the same grind. More people will grind from square one than you think. New people come in the game all the time. To me it seems like all the vettes have left before the NGE and its only newer players hangin around.

Actually, based on reports I've heard of the advancement system, grinding to CL80 for any iconic prof in the new system may be less time & effort than grinding any normal full template character is now in the old system. By that reasoning, anyone who has a full temp char now has already done enough to "earn" any of the new iconic profs.
You're exactly the person I am talking to. You're still equating work done in the old system with a reward in the new one. Its a flawed premise.

Doesn't matter, i'm not going to downgrade the accomplishments just because "they" are switching it to a new system, that one asked for again. i know what i earned, and that doesn't change, from this system to the next and the system after it. i did what i did, i earned what i played for. anyone after.....well forget about it. like i said earlier respecing into a lvl80 jedi, and a new player starting from level 1 are completely different things. i have no problem with new players, just respecers.
you can clearly scroll up, and see that in my past post. thats it. There is no problem with the new jedi, just people that are going to fly into our profession, because now they can, free of will. They bother me. that won't ever change, no matter how many ways you want to try and pave it.

Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. You stick with your retarded opinion, and I'll stick with mine

works for me, because in the end we're still retarded for having believed in SOE
