jedi will be taken out of the game before its a starting proff.

Yeah right, you have any idea how much profit another jedi game would bring, To SOE this would be the last Hurah before shutting the servers down. Or even bringing out a expansion with a jedi quest built in to instant unlock.

You ever hang around the newbie towns? know what most true new players want to know "how do I get a glow stick" and many are not renewing thier accounts once they realize how long its going to take for them to gain what they bought the game for in the first place.

SOE will make it easier for them, watch in time as the viliage goes from 3 weeks to 2, then to 1 week.

Most vets bought the game to play SWG, Most new players are buying the game to play Jedi..

Prior to the CU a large number of vets were leaving, they were sick of the system and unwilling to continue to play it, once the CU come out and 2 expanions I have noticed a number of older players filtering back in.

As I mentioned in another post. Big companies like SOE and EA only care about money. More more more more.

Every week they release a new game. People buy the game cause they advertise it as a brilliant game. They release expansions and sequals which people will buy to make the boring game a little more interesting.

For SOE I don't even have to start about SWG cause we all know it. But with EA:

Take Command and Conquer Generals for instance. Every true C&C lover hated that game and they released an expansion which was supposed to make the game more interesting, but only added more ridiculous stuff like EMP patriots and more superweapons.

Sims 2 with both the expansions. The game is fun for the first few days, but after that it all comes down to buying the most expensive furniture cause the sims whine all day long. They run to the fridge as soon as you're not paying attention and the only thing you're doing all day is trying to make their 4 wishes come true to better their mood.

And the latest and the best example is Black and White 2. I never played the original Black and White but I liked the idea to play as a god. Anyway B&W 2 started out as a very good looking game. The tutorial was very good, elaborate and clear. During the first missions there were a lot of tips, hints and suggestions. But every mission is the same. Build a wall, let your population grow and take over your enemies by impressing them or build an army with your big population and overrun them. Needless to say every mission is pretty much the same and there are only a few. I completed each mission within the hour and after 3 days of playing the game for only a few hours each day the game was over.

No multiplayer, no skirmish mode, no sandbox mode, nothing. What a complete waste of money. What do they expect to do all the same boring missions again? Btw since when do all greek people have a clear english accent. How ridiculous can you get. Not mentioning the lag you get as your population increases, even as low settings with a 3.4 GHz processor and 2 GB RAM.

A complete and utter waste of money. Shame on them.

GTA 3, VC and SA were and will always be the best games ever. Screw SOE and EA for only caring about their money and not about the people that play the game. Instead of entertaining us they are making money for themselves.

There is an interview on www.mmorpg.com whereJulio Torres mentions...

The first experience a player has with a game is incredibly important in terms of design because it is within this initial time frame that a player decides whether they will continue playing the game or move-on to something else. Knowing how important it is to put your best foot forward as early as possible, we are constantly looking for ways to make the game more accessible to more players and improve the overall experience. That being said, we actually have some very exciting things in the works right now to help accomplish this. Stay tuned.

Link is here...

So based on this interview, a few rumors, etc I think the starter kit is a new quest-based system where the grind is gone. The 1st 30 levels are gained not by grinding xp but by doing quests. I know there are new quests in the starter kit based on this...

The Starter Pack has everything new players need to jump into the massive online role-playing world of Star Wars Galaxies. Begin your adventure by helping HAN Solo and Chewbacca fend off Jabba The Hutt on the Millennium Falcon -- then choose your path and find a place in the Galaxy. Become a rebel and fight the Empire, or join up with the Dark Side - while seeking your fortune as a Bounty Hunter, Smuggler or even a Jedi

Here's the link to buying the starter kit with description...

I see no evidence to lead me to believe that jedi are becoming starter professions anywhere in there. However it is a bit scarey to note that the following rumor (which i thought previously ridiculous) is partly true now...

The Quote below is from another poster (this isnt mine for those who pm me asking about it)

Members of the Jedi Community and all SWG players.

I know this post may get flamed, but it is only expected. There have been many rumors around the forums, but my source is a bit more than a rumor. I have been a member of the Jedi Community for a long while, and a member of SWG since the beginning. What I am about to disclose to you is top secret SOE stuff so to speak.

I have a friend whose uncle is a SOE employee. (I would give his name here, but I was advised not to because I do not wish to jepordize that individuals job. Anyways, I told my friend to ask his Uncle "What is going on with jedi recently, and why all the nerfing and changes?" He did, indeed ask him, and the response was shocking. I cancelled my account immediately after hearing this. I am not advising you to do this, but since the SWG Community Relations, and Devs will not answer all of these issues, I felt obligated to inform the community of my disturbing findings.
Here we go........

1.- Jedi are being phased into a regular profession, that will be selectable from the beginning of the game. This is the reason so many nerfs appear to be hitting jedi recently. They are attempting to slowly transition jedi into a normal class. They have not and will not inform the community about this, because it will enrage the vets. But they are hoping to keep everyone quiet while they work on this. They are also counting on the fact that more and more players will be influenced to buy the game, if jedi are immediately selectable. The bottom line is their numbers show that more players have quit the game because they were lazy and didnt want to work for jedi, as opposed to players who complain about jedi, but will not quit. They are hoping that subscription rates will soar if Jedi are immediately selectable, because jedi is the reason most players buy this game. This is also the reason why pearls/ FRS have been removed, so that vets will slowly become accustomed to being converted, and hopefully stay with the game.

2.- All melee classes are being removed. The bottom line is that SOE feels that melee professions do not appear in the movies, and they will remove them from the game. The current status of Ranged professions being dominate is all in their grand scheme of things. They are hoping that most melee players will switch their templates to Ranged now, so that when they eliminate all melee, there wont be enough of them left to cause an uproar. Therfore everyone in game will be A.- A jedi B.- Ranged C.- Crafter, Entertainer, or other. All remaining melee players will be given a respec period.

3.- All grinding is going to be removed. All leveling will soon be quest based and not grinding. Example: You will need to run to a trainer, get missions from him, he will teach you a skill box, back to step one. They are hoping that this will keep the playerbase more nethralled with the game, and get the quest based system they have always wanted.

Now the reason this may all seem far fetched to you, is because so many people on these forums cry wolf, and start rumors. but I assure you, this is the reason we dont get the responses we are looking for. Alot of people complained about the CU, but once they played it, they became adjusted and despite their complaints they still stayed subscribed. If they announced all this now, it would cause mass mahem and anger, so they will keep it quiet until it goes live, and then we are stuck with a "Like it or leave it" option. And the bottom line is (it has been proven) we will still play it.
Also, cancelled jedi accounts are a given in this, but look at it from the outside, ALOT of new players will also spawn out of this mess, because jedi will be made readily available to them.

I did not get any info on the Jedi vs. BH situation, or other important issues, but they did make it clear that there will be no more alpha classes in this game. Also do not shoot the OP, or myself. He is a messenger for me (since my account was banned) and I am a messenger from another, and I simply feel obligated to inform you all.

So if you flame me, that is fine. I am not a troll nor a rumor starter, and it is your choice alone on what you want to believe. I am simply warning you all that this will come to pass.

If your opinion of the game were such that you would be staying, would you be jumping on the conspiracy theory bandwagon? You left last time with some graaand flourish and let us all know how stupid we were for staying. Don't think that anyone on Eclipse has forgotten you. You are leaving....again...so you jumped on the same bandwagon as everyone else who posts on the Jedi boards did. "Oh noes, the sky is falling!!"

The PS2 version was all over the same websites, if memory serves. New ways to make new players stay may well be forcing us Jedi into hiding to add to the mystique of Jedi. It may be GCW changes. It may be any number of things that they could code into the existing game without making a new box for some crap that doesn't exist.

You can see what I posted as an attack, but I could honestly care less. If honesty stings, so be it. I notice the problems the game has, but I don't buy into all the "theories" bouncing around on this forum. You jumped on the bandwagon with the rest of the "I hate SWG" crowd. Seems like those unhappiest with the game see some grand design that will never happen....much like the PS2 version which had confirmed dates and all...remember? I remember.

My point in replying to your post is to let those who may view it know that you will jump ship at the first sign of something not quite going your way. Yey...you came back, got your Jedi just before the CU hit, now you see we are not all we are supposed to be, you wanna take your ball and go home. Bye. Don't let the door hit you in the rear on the way out. Sadly, it will swing the other way and you will AGAIN come charging back in saying how you've missed shangri-la. Same Stuff, Different Day!

Allow me to translate this sickening interview as I work and teach Public Relations. Also for those who dont understand how this works, most likely these questions (along with others) were sent via email or telephoned in. Most companies like Lucas will only approve an interview like this with pre-approved questions and sometimes with no followup questions allowed. This is why many times you'll see interviews such as this where the interviewer doesnt slam the interviewee when they give fluff answers or dodge a question or in SOE's case, flat out lie.

The interview..

MMORPG.com:Julio Torres:

This is more of an issue of perception. What often causes this impression is that the Jedi are one of the most iconic and popular type of Star Wars characters for fans and as result many players take on the Jedi profession. Additionally, the Star Wars fiction and canon hold the Jedi to be some of the deepest and most intricate characters in the universe, so in order to remain consistent with this the Jedi require proportionally more depth than some of the other characters and professions, especially when you involve the mysterious nature of The Force. As with any game of this type, the more players you have of a certain class or profession, the greater the challenge of delivering fresh content for said players. Despite this we still maintain that Galaxies has an equal, if not more, amount of content for non-Jedi professions.

Thats true, the other 50% of the game is devoted to Bounty Hunters

MMORPG.com:Julio Torres:

This is one of our exciting new weapon loot items that players will be able to earn after finishing a series of high-level quests. However, how players acquire the item will remain a mystery until our players discover it for themselves.

This question actually brings to mind another new feature we have introduced with Trials of Obi-Wan. That feature being a cyclical loot and rewards system which allows players to earn different loot and rewards each time they complete a quest, even if they have completed the quest(s) already. We are confident this will bring great replay value to Galaxies as well as reward players with some great new items.

Yeah its very exciting all right and pointless like this game has become. An extremely ugly crystal that the community has flamed over and over again because it has no business being in the game. Its an awful color. And finally, it has no bonus stats so nobody will ever use it.

MMORPG.com:Julio Torres:

Mustafar was a natural choice for our next planet as it allowed for us to make fun and compelling content as well as gave us an opportunity to make some technological advances in the game, such as the new bursting lava flows and damage from environmental effects – a first for any of the Galaxies games and expansions. Mustafar is by far our most immersive environment yet. Additionally, with our introduction of the iconic Obi-Wan ghost, the fact that Mustafar was the location of Obi-Wan and Anakin’s “final” battle allowed us to tie these two great elements together while remaining consistent with Star Wars fiction and canon.

Umm can you say prepared statement ? Nice attempt to dodge the question. Classic pr in action, turn a possible negative question into another way to promote the features. Well done.

MMORPG.com
[kaibigan34]:
Julio Torres:

Unfortunately, I can’t comment on anything regarding future Galaxies projects at this time.

Our Marketing dept has determined that our core player base, now mostly 13 year old console WoW kiddies has never even heard of those places. So heck no we wont be adding them in. Of course we wont state that publicly to keep some of the old vets around. Our next planet expansion will most like be another weird planet from episode 3 like the planet where grevious and kenobi fought

MMORPG.com:Julio Torres:

The design team actually came-up with a really creative role and story for Obi-Wan in terms of continuity which stays true to the Star Wars fiction and canon. One of the overarching goals of completing the quests given by Obi-Wan is to aid him in his quest for redemption for failing to keep Anakin from turning to the Dark Side. Fans will recognize the Shore of Remorse (a location where Obi-Wan appears) as the location where Obi-Wan struck down Anakin in their “final” battle. From a design perspective he plays a crucial role in tying together the stories and quests of Trials, going far beyond the typical “marketing icon.”

In other words, we could care less about continuity. Do you honestly think we care when we know we can make some money off our core players ? Did we care when we allowed housands of players to become jedi ? Did we care when we added Kashyyyk ? Did we care when we put in Grevious ? And will we care with the addition of a KOTOR character HK47 ? No, we care only for the bottom dollar and will destroy any and all star wars cannon if it will earn a profit.

MMORPG.com:Julio Torres:

In addition to releasing the expansions, LucasArts and SOE continue to offer an abundant amount of new downloadable content included in the monthly subscriptions. We are confident that Galaxies continues to offer just as much, if not more, in terms of content included with the monthly subscription. One thing to keep in mind is that for any subscription-based game, the amount of new content that is delivered regularly with the subscription decreases over time, but never completely goes away.

Yep, a flat out lie here. We havent added any content to speak of since the Death Watch Bunker over a year ago. At this point, we are in EQ mode....release a small crummy expansion every 4 months and charge a premium price. The players are so desperate for content they'll buy it. We have no plans on adding more free content in this game so forget it.

MMORPG.com:Julio Torres:

Not at all as we like to hear all forms of feedback from our player base, it is not only listened to by us but very appreciated. We are always working on improving our game for the players, so their feedback is essential for this to happen. If anything, the Star Wars brand helps the game because of its easy recognition and die-hard fans.

LOL, I cant believe they bought that answer. Yeah we value their opinions all right. Then we delete their negative polls like the one about the CU then lie in follow-up interviews by stating the majority of the player base was pro-CU. Heck we've even been known to post on the forums telling the players they face a banning if they continue to post negative comments. We simply are not interested in open communication and will continue to delete and ban players to keep the rest of the community ignorant to how bad this game really is and to cover up the many hundreds of lies over the years.

MMORPG.com:Julio Torres:

At the end of the day and above all else, we are responsible for creating fun and compelling game content that immerses players in the Star Wars fantasy. Though the Star Wars brand does add a bit to this challenge, I would also say that it gives us an exciting and endless supply of inspiration and content to work with when designing game elements, mechanics, and stories.

We were stunned by how passionate these guys are. In retrospect we probably should have hired some developers who happened to like Star Wars. However the hardcore 30+ year old star wars fans aremostly quitting now and all we are left with are some console kiddies who've only seen the recent movies. The rest that have joined over the past year arent the hardcore types, they're only here to shoot stuff. Star wars means nothing to them so we can avoid following cannon a lot more now whew.

MMORPG.com:Julio Torres:

Well, for starters the game has been vastly improved since its launch two years ago and players seem to agree as the game continues to sell really well (we recently surpassed the 1 million units sold mark), growing the size of the Galaxies player base. I guess when it comes down to it, I would remind some of the former players that Galaxies is the only game in existence that truly allows you to completely and totally immerse yourselves in the Star Wars universe, fiction, and experience. In addition to this, it is a great game that continually improves and that we are very proud of.

Wow what a way to lie about something eh ? Tell them we have sold over 1 million units. But dont mention we only have 200k players actually playing these days. In other words, 800k players have bought the game only to quit or 4/5 of every player to try the game decided it sucked

MMORPG.com:Julio Torres:

My favorite part of Galaxies is that it allows me to immerse myself in the Star Wars universe like nothing else can at any time, all the time. In addition to that aspect, I would say the amount of depth Galaxies offers in terms of the game itself is simply amazing and provides near-endless gameplay and fun experiences.

Actually, I have only played a total of 5 hours and that was to see what all the fuss was about. I actually prefer World of Warcraft

MMORPG.com:Julio Torres:

This has definitely been a challenge for our game in the past, but has come a long way, especially in terms of directing the player to what they need to be doing early-on. Stay tuned.

We have an all-new starter kit coming out but in classic SOE fashion we will lie to the players so they dont get upset over it. We will also use our alt names to post flames on anyone who questions this to give the appearance that this idea is ridiculous. Only when it comes out will we announce it exists. And of course we wont apologize to the players who tried in vain to bring it up

MMORPG.com:Julio Torres:

Though I can’t go into any detail regarding future products, I can tell you that Trials of Obi-Wan will not be the last expansion to Star Wars Galaxies. We are constantly conceptualizing, designing, and thinking about the future for this great game that despite being out for over two years, continues to be enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of players.

Of course it wont, our new core players post-cu have short attention spans and therefore we will need to continually release mini planets with a few time consuming quests to keep their feeble minds interested

MMORPG.com:Julio Torres:

Sorry, not at liberty to share this kind of information.

Like we would ever tell you how bad we are doing lol

MMORPG.com:Julio Torres:

Even though Mustafar has plenty of content, quests, items, etc. for non-Jedi, there is GREAT content specifically for Jedi, especially when you consider we have robust quests and missions given by one of the greatest Jedi ever.

Of course we dont mention the lies we stated previously that this expansion was for non-combatants too

MMORPG.com:Julio Torres:

As I mentioned before, with all content we make sure that there is something that appeals to all professions, Jedi and non- Jedi alike. Trials of Obi-Wan is no exception. We are confident all high-level Galaxies players will find enjoyment in what we are bringing to them on Mustafar.

Of course we wont mention crafters or entertainers because who cares about them. The original dev team that thought they were an important aspect of the game are loooooong gone. The marketing suits tell us that our console kiddie crowd doesnt care so to heck with them

Enjoy blowing stuff up you idiots and make sure to keep paying us for something you could get for free from non-mmorpg star wars games with less bugs too
