Thread: Seems like SOE is trying to weed out the casual Jedi player, in favor for those with no lives...

There werent 'tons' of jedi till the cu and double xp. thats common knowledge.
The days I played and levelled my jedi in solo in the wild. 4 months of sweet video game experience that ended with the CU patch.
I am happy I was in those days. I am sad about what jedi are now.

30 in our guild and I think at least 10 unlocked during double xp , well actually we had quad xp. Now Id say we have 20 Jedi in the guild a ful 2/3 of the people who play.

That isn't true at all. The major influx of jedi started with the change from the hologrind to the village. They gave out free unlocks based on the number of professions you had mastered. There were people who got jedi characters almost instantly on the day of the publish.
Double XP, regardless of the CU, just allowed people to bank up XP and allowed them to wait the several more weeks of phases to finish their unlock process. The 18 week time barrier is more than enough time to get the xp you need to unlock all 6 trees and get your padawan. Double XP doesn't speed that up at all. It may have encourage more people to get off their butts and put in some extra grind time to finish that sooner, but it didn't increase the speed with which we saw more jedi.
I capped my xp faster pre-cu than I do post-cu. I don't understand that part of your argument. Got buffed, threw on my armour, and spun quenker lairs all night long. I could cap a few times a night. Now I'm lucky to do half that. If anything, the CU slowed down the grind for me at least. Having to find a decent group to grind in is not easy.
The CU is not a good explanation for the influx of jedi. Please revise your common knowledge.
Misconception on the free unlocks. They weren't based on the number of professions your grinded. They were based on the number of professions that you needed to unlock. There were 8 professions you had to master to unlock. 4 of them you could find out with holos. The formula was the number of professions that your character mastered that were chosen for you to unlock - 2. So if you were lucky enough to get 5 of those 8 chosen professions mastered, then you would receive 3 unlocks at the village. Those people that had mastered 7 of their chosen 8 professions would have received 5 unlocks...leaving them only one branch to finish the village.
NEW POINT:
The influx of jedi was due to the time frame. What did you expect after two years of game play. It wasn't all that difficult to master professions pre-pub 9. I averaged 2 a month. The first one, rifleman that i did, took me 4 months. In that 4 months I learned a lot...especially how to write macros. AFK grinding is acceptable, regardless if you like it or not. I stopped after 16 professions...got bored with the game (grinding is not fun) and quit. When I came back, i read the post on getting glowy...first day back I was glowy...i needed 2 badges. I went to the village and I received 3 unlocks, picked up my ADK reward, bought some grenades and banked the xp i needed for the next 3 phases. On Oct 4 of this year, i decided that if I was going to continue playing and paying, I closed one of my alt accounts, opened a brand new one (in 12 months, i get another ADK). My new charbecame FS and completed the quest for the current phase in 11 days. Now, not any new char will be able to get glowy that fast without friends...but it sure isn't hard to do that now. If I wanted to have this new toon jedi, it would take about6 to8 months max. About the same as my first one. I just have to do different things, but the end result is the same.
My point is: It isn't any harder or easier today to get a jedi as when the game began (and just about as boring if you make that your focus). So don't expect the number of Jedi to decrease, unless of course, they make playing a Jedi highly undesirable. umm...could that be pub 24 or ToOW?
