I have talked with alot of Jedi that have the 444x def template that used to have force armor and they all said the get hit the same with the force armor as the do when they got the ranged def tree in defender the only difference is that force armor uses force and your jedi inate armor wont. I dont know if that helps at all but thought i would post it

i wouldnt get ether.....i've had force armor.....the drain is terrible in one on one battles....i go

Mls defender 4044 enhancer 3002 healer 4000 much better temp

Not flaming but would you please explain how 4044 defender is better then 4440 defender?

With 4440 you get 12 more points of armor (putting your armor rating on par with a TKM)

With 4044 you get 35 more points of melee defense (inconsequential), Jedi state defense (broken as far as I know), and Valor (yet another special that sucks up force and reduces offense)

valor is only good on ranged/bhs. only gives block. ur armor sux so if/when ur hit u feel it. besides u can buy vayerbok which adds +25 block (which is exact amount valor adds but valor uses force)

Thanks for the info, but Im quite familiar with what valor is already. Still doesnt answer my question of why CabraofGorath feels that 4044 Defender is better then 4440. If theres some reason I'm not aware of that this configuration is superior I'm interested to know it.

I am going for option 2.

I think that force management is more critical and thus inate armor more valuable.

Force mgmt could be even more important if we are hit with increases to point cost for using heals.

I've tried both.

For me, force armor+aura works better.

Consider:

Armor = mitigation of damage received.

Melee/Ranged defense= Reduction of DAMAGE RANGE allowed to pass through to hit you based on a comparison between your defenses and enemy accuracy which in turn affects the damage range allowed to pass through to hit you.

Tests have shown that having 700 defenses ABOVE your enemy's accuracy will effectively make your opponent hit you for the MINIMUM amount of damage possible (minus elemental damage, that is not mitigated by defenses).

So, if a BH's accuracy is around 200 and your defenses are at around 200 (def 44xx) the BH will be doing damage to you around 90% of his max. Aka if a BH's weapon has min 400 max 1000 damage stats and the shot was to hit you for 1000 damage (max allowed) your defenses will peel off 100 points and you get hit for 900 damage. Then from that 900 damage your innate armor comes into play and lowers the damage even further. ARMOR IS THE LAST 'CHECK' FOR DAMAGE REDUCTION THE GAME DOES.

Compare:

Jedi with def 44xx has innate armor comparable to wearing 5k resist armor and 200 defenses. Enemy attack of1000 damage will be reduced by 100 damage first and then the 900 damage that goes through will be reduced to about220 damage.

Jedi with def xx4x (Aura) will have about620 defenses. . So, when the BH,using a 400 min 1000 max damage stat gun shoots the jedi, the defenses are compared. 620 jedi defenses vs 200 bh accuracy. This is a full420defenses more than the BH's accuracy. This is then taken and compared to the weapon's min and max damage. So from 400 min to 1000 max is 600 damage 'range'. If 700 def over accuracymakes the gun do the MIN damage possible then 420defenses over accuracyis about 60%. 60% of 600(the damage range) is 360. 600-360=240.

This 240 is theDAMAGE range the weapon will have to hit the jediwith. So, 400 min + 240 is640. Damage range of gun is 400-640 damage.

A gun ofsuch low damage range no longer does 1000 max damage but instead does 640 max damage. To make life easier lets keep assuming the gun DOES dofull damage.

Jedi gets hit by 640 damage.

Then the jedi's innate armor comes into play. Defxx4xx have like 30 innate armor whichis like 3k armor resists to make life easier. A shot of 640 damage hitting a 3k armor target will do approximately 300 damage.

Conclusion:

220 damage taken Def 44xx > 300 damage taken Defxx4x

BUT WAIT.

Force Armor (enchancerx4xx) is 40 innate armoron TOP of the existing nov def30 innate armor.

Take the same BH gun 400 min 1000 max vs adef xx4x enchx4xx.

First Check: Def. Vs. Accuracy.

BH 200 accuracy vs Jedi 500 (aura.. jedi may have more than this from nov def or other proffs but lets make our life easy here). defenses.

Jedi has 300 defense advantage. If 700 advantage= min damage to gun then 300 advantage will be making the BH gun have a min/max range of about 400min 800 max.

From that 800 max damage that passed through the Aura defenses this damage is then mitigated by the jedi's innate FORCE ARMOR. 70 innate armor is effectively 7k armor resists. 800 damage hitting 7k armor will make the BH hit the jedi for about 120 damage.

Conclusion:

Force Armor2+Aura2 >>>>>> Defender 44xx

Defender 444x will have 700'ish defenses with 5k armor equivalent which makes it equivalent to theFA2+Aura2 damage reduction. However, it requires 3 branches of skillpoints to get instead of just 2 branches for aura2+force armor2.

True, armor costs force. But with the 1 branch of skillpoints available to be put ELSEWHERE it makes it a very good alternative to going full defender... as the abilities gained from other branches will usually outweigh the force cost.

the ranged def doesnt even work.....valor is better than that tree anyways.....

id go wit more armor that doesnt cost ne force compared to sumthing that doesnt add ne protection or armor and cost force everytime u reapply it every 40 secs. valor only addes +25% block which ne chef can make vayerbok which adds sum amount of block and vayerbok lasts about 7-15 mins depending on chefs compared to valor which last about 40-45 secs and needs force to reapply. go with 444x Def not 4x44 Def

So you would prefer a 36% resistance armor for an extra saber block skill that reduces offense instead of 45% reduction armor?

my base def is @ 28-29% with force armor added it is 53%...all arua does is midigate the dmg you take. the % stays the same.

so with arua you get and increased amount of defence. is it worth it, depends on how u play your template.
